GFL ?? shooting star?? UFO?? Plane?? ...

From the Telegraph:
"A Durham Police spokeswoman said a number of calls came in around 9.45pm from concerned members of public who had seen a "bright light or a fire in the sky" and believed it may have been incidents involving an aircraft.

"It has been confirmed with air traffic control that there are no incidents of aircraft in difficult and nothing registered on radar," she said."

It didn't strike me that it was particularly Earthbound, but I am no expert. Maybe it was just skimming our atmosphere.

I'd say aprox 300-500 meter up, from what I seen definitely in our atmosphere.

I really don't know. It was travelling faster than a jet but the only noise I heard was a siren. Very strange, perhaps terrestrial, but at no time did I think it was a meteor. The thing was going horizontal. And it travelled down from Scotland through Wales to the south of England, in an hour more or less. I spoke to my mother today and she saw it as she was coming home from work too. I think someone else on PA saw it. This was posted last night on this thread http://projectavalon.net/forum4/showthread.php?41919-Did-anyone-just-see-a-fireball-hurtling-through-the-sky-in-the-UK
