Hey folks,
Check this out.
Police swooped on a Brazilian doomsday cult just 10 minutes before more than 100 followers were about to commit mass suicide by drinking poisoned soup
Elite troops burst into a building where self-proclaimed prophet Luis Pereira dos Santos had barricaded himself in after predicting the world would end at 8pm yesterday.
Santos, known to his flock as Daddy Luis, had claimed an angel visited four years ago telling him the exact time the world was going to end.

This is pretty serious folks.
I wonder how many similar situations will happen, now that we´re approaching December 21th.
Anyway, I´m really glad the police arrived in time to stop this madness.
Cheers,
Raf.

This is a worry as 21 Dec 2012 aproaches , If individuals want to end there stay on earth that is one thing however sad. Thats up to any consenting adult to do to themselves.
But to influence others especially minors who would not normally do such a thing is another matter, and is tantamount to assisted murder ..imo....

Soup Nazi! (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Soup_Nazi) (No soup for you!) (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uVqBzP0xdKk&feature=related)
All kidding aside, yes, this is very serious. I agree.
I'm sure more like this will occur, in the future, and not specifically tied to calendars and such.

This is the problem with fear mongering and hope mongering!
This shows a huge lack of understanding and gullibility. This is exactly why hysteria about any topic can have consequences beyond this forum. My greatest concern, is someone sitting alone reading some of this stuff, will get the idea that it is all pointless, and especially misunderstanding 'the illusion of everything'. We still have to care for life as it is so precious.
There are people or groups peddling all sorts of strange unproven ideas and use ancient teachings to support them, but they are truly misguided.
I've just completed a meditation exam. One of the questions was, "Is meditation dangerous?" I answered only to the ego! But also to those who take 'things', their meditation, and themselves too seriously. They are trying too hard!
If we blindly disbelieve everything the ordinary media says, or blindly believe everything the alternative media says, we may lose our common sense.
You are right, this is a very serious problem.

I have some experience with the cult mind. A principle which persists, is that members of various cults should beware of the internet. Don't get on it! Protect yourself from the disturbing revelations posted everywhere about your or anyone's cult (church, group).
One cult even provides a software application that stops their members from getting to any web sites that post negative opinions about their dear cult!
I'm glad the individuals involved in the cult written about above are alive.
Because tomorrow is another day. And right now is the only moment there is. And they're here to complete their experience on planet Earth. Thanks RMorgan, good news is always welcome!

Yeah. My mother simply said....'just still your mind, and still your breathing..and off you go'. Simple as that. 'Ok', I said. (I was 8 years old). So, I did it.

You were very lucky to have had a mother like that.
It should be a pre-requisite that people not have children unless they are prepared to communicate with them in the manner that your mom did with you.

see what the world has come to. people are not even allowed to take their own lives anymore. where is free will in that? people fear death so much that they won't even allow others to die if that is their choice.
"and in those days shall men seek death,
and shall not find it;
and shall desire to die,
and death shall flee from them." rev. 9:6

I've only known christian cults to commit suicide on a mass scale. Was this another christian cult??? If so no surprise there.

that's really sad news, why deprive the right of anyone to die at its own pace by his own delusions

Because these folks where scammed, besides, there were several kids involved as well.
If only, as you said, it was their own delusions...But it wasn´t. They were going to kill themselves for someone else´s delusion.
Anyway, suicide is considered a crime here in Brazil and I agree. Most people who try to kill themselves end up changing their minds after life gets better.
All these folks will have a second chance now. I hope they know how to use it.

The question, though..becomes do we have a right to disconnect an individual or group.. from being involved in another's delusion?
Where does 'indicating awareness' or 'acting of awareness' on front of another..where does that transgress into the bodily originated parental act of 'interfering absolutism projected (as an actual act)' that is attempting to control and interfere in the life of another?
Where does that all important divide -situate itself?
One thing that might be said, is that: Projected absolutism is indeed a problem.
Another thing that might be said is that: growth and mutability in the face of given arising issues... might be something to cultivate. (expand the personal toolbox beyond reactionary projected absolutism)

As with all things, this is about personal freedom and personal responsibility. Waxing philosophically about whether " we should allow " or " they should mandate" feeds the monster and puts us in league with TPTBW. I certainly don't think that enlightened people adopt a eugenics based opinion about who is qualified to reproduce. I am not sure that this isn't a false flag. Did anyone have any kool aid over the weekend?
