It has been said, and quite accurately, that America is one giant experiment in Contract Law.

In this video you will see how contract law can and does destroy social structure and norms. It seems like you can't get anything done in this world without a contract or getting 'paper on it'. Well, I've personally done my best on deals or co-operations that are exclusive of any contracts.

Likewise, you might note that these days most people are seeming to eschew the idea of a marriage contract for simply living together and it is a bit of a social myth that has some truth to it that -those who have big weddings and formalized contractual situations like that, as a huge public display...seem to have the marriage that dissolves the quickest.

Kind of reminds me of money, with regard to the underpinnings of human psychology and how it relates to this entire topic...where people look at the paper (money) and forget the human value tied to it. Money=selfishness as a more formal and direct machination.
