If anybody can get a copy of this episode it is a must watch.

Talk about allegory and "hidden in plain sight", this is a classic.

I never normally watch Dr Who, but ended up watching due to being incapacitated by too much turkey & sprouts, I must say I was horrified, this is for kids ?

A lesbian married human & reptile ????

They drew heavily on this programs characters & memes for the Olympic "rituals" too.

Thanks for this thread!
Fantastic episode - definitely not for kids, but most episodes never are! Have anyone of you seen Torchwood? That is absolutely not for kids!
And Madame Vastra must be GīKarīs (from Babylon 5) great grandmother! ;)

I am planning on watching it to-night! One of my favourites.

Dr Who is not a children's show, nor is Torchwood. In the beginning of Doctor Who, 50 years ago!, it was scary for children, but OK, but the 'new' recent doctor has had some raunchy topics, though the message of love and devotion, and also duty, is always there.

Water has been a theme throughout.
We have Amelia Pond and her daughter Melody Pond whose name was changed to River Song.

Melody/Song and River/Pond. Water, like a mirror.
Is time/memory the structure and function of water?

Hi Taurean, I have been a big 'fan' of Dr Who ever since I watched Episode 1, Season 1 in 1963, at the grand age of 5 years. I watched the episode you list
this evening, 24 hours after it aired on U.K T.V, in Perth here in western australia. I am interested to know what was the Allegory, and the 'hidden in plain sight' elements
you refer to according to yourself. What do you think it speaks of, the Reptilian woman indigenous to Earth, the Sontaran warrior being among the Aliens engaging the Earth?
Just interested in your perspective if you feel like replying.
Cheers
Michael

I watched the episode through iView and enjoyed it.
Don't see what the fuss is about.
Doctor Who is science fiction and as a result presents various alternate possibilities.
Really liked the fun in this episode to.
Kind Regards, :yo:

Dr. Who was my favourite TV show when I was a kid. There wasn't much that was intelligent to watch and I loved that show.
