Charging for toilets, weighing passengers and flying with a lone pilot: Ryanair's combative boss Michael O'Leary is renowned for backing unusual ideas, but some passengers may feel that even he has overstepped the mark with his latest comments denying the existence of global warming.

In an interview with The Independent littered with expletives, the chief executive of Europe's largest airline branded the scientific consensus that man-made pollution is heating up the planet with potentially grave consequences for the future of humanity as "horse****".

He agreed the climate was changing but denied it was caused by man-made emissions of carbon dioxide, such as those from his planes. "Nobody can argue that there isn't climate change. The climate's been changing since time immemorial," he said.

I'm sure people on here would sit idly by while the planetary changes occur.

Don't waste your time worrying about what to call it.

Celine, I second that. Carlin, a wise man indeed.

"over 90% of the species that EVER existed is..gone. We didnt kill them all..."

A very realistic point of view imo.

And can you picture this meeting between Bush juniors people and Al Gore's people?

"Ok you're guys gonna to take a dive in this election but check this out, he will be famous by putting out this silly video.."

Has recycling reduced the impact on the planet? or just made it cheaper for manufacturers to get the resources needed to make more products..

but humans ARE trashing the planet! & wiping out many species! in all kinds of ways -- not by heating up the planet -- whatever they are building the DUMBS to hide from is probably causing the increasing worldwide extremes of temperature --

but still, that does not absolve humans of the responsibility for the planet-trashing going on -- starting w/what kind of cleaning products you have in your kitchens & bathrooms -- & whether or not you pay a bit more money &/or travel a bit farther to eat organic foods instead of the megacorps foods -- & how many years you have been doing one or the other -- my list could go on & on --

like the video says...all that concern is about "our habitat"..the planet if fine. It can handle..and has handled much worse then us.

Carlin explains it better then i...

"The planets ok..its the people thats f**ked"

if you knew your galactic histories, you would know that planets can & have been destroyed, in different ways -- Earth's oceans are dying -- this matters to me

Forgive me for "not knowing" all of the truth.....

Seems you do... is there a thread you started sharing this knowledge with all ?

i believe Earths oceans are NOT dying.. they might be changing...the life in it might be dying.. but the ocean itself is not..<---my two cents

nope -- no know-it-all thread, as i only know what i know, & that sure ain't all -- & i'm backing off this exchange -- i don't like to argue, but i carry pain in my heart all the time for Earth & the non-human sentient beings here, & had to say something

it's said

The new paradigm...
"The Earth + plastic!"

God I miss that old socialist fraud. He was funny as "hell with handrails".

"The earth doesn't really need us, you know. It can simply start over with bees, or buffaloes." - Steven Gaskin

For all those who, like Baptist Preachers, insist everything must be man's fault:

Please explain how our activity has resulted in Mars, Mercury, and Uranus (to name a few) heating up at the same rate, as earth.

Trading kitchen matches for apples as "original sin" won't make ManMade Global Warming true. If such evidence exists, it should still show up in 1000 years of Global Temp data (http://fredsitelive.com/personal/CurEvents/100yrTemps.html), right?

Well, Carlin hit the nail on the head. That is some of the funniest comedy that I have seen in a long long time.

Wynderer, I can respect you view point 100%. I do not agree witrh it, however, I respect it none the less.

There is no evidence whatsoever to suggest that the earths oceans are dying. The Earths ocean will not die out for a very very long time, long after we are gone!

Dear IrishSpirit,

O'Leary is a bit of a tit and thrives upon scurrilous one liners designed I suppose ..to make folk sit back and think..For sure he wants to piss you off and succeeds amazingly well. I will never fly on RyanAir..but it's not because I hate being treated like Cattle,It's simply the legroom..(I have long legs)..and even for an hour and a half flight..I hate sitting with a sore arse in a semi Yogic position..with a scowling Czech Stewardess banging my feet with her bloody perfume trolly..( I have to be semi-recumbent even to fit in their grotty little planes!)

No O'Leary isn't to blame at all..he's a maverick..an arsehole..a brilliant businessman..and to my mind a visionary of the future of air travel..A future of less comfort..invasive security measures..and a downright hateful experiences...Maybe we should all have a holiday at home for a while!..I live in the European landmass..I can holiday in five different Countries within a few hours drive of my own home..High speed rail networks are being planned...The day of the budget Airlines are numbered. O'Leary is gasping for air as we speak..Thank goodness.

Quite.

Also - the planet is ascending on a fixed timescale, the people are not, they get freewill. Adapt or die kind of freewill, and building DUMBS is just dumb and it wont work.

The global warming political hero was charging 100K per presentation, some people ask why does he need to charge so much per presentation. When politicians start to rallied for a cause and make so much money in the process something smell fishy. What Al fail to tell everyone was that global warming was a universal reality nothing to do with the Earth and the humans, of course we are good at polluting there's no question about that, but global warming is happening with or without humans.

Is time for Al to give the money back and tell the truth, of course that would be asking too much from a politician. Oh well what else is new.

Al Gore no longer represents the environmental movement. He represents his own selfish interests.

It would be nice for once if people stopped buying into the denier bull**** and at least thought about the bigger picture. We don't have time to argue over semantics or argue over how much man is responsible, etc. We're past that. I suppose we should just buckle ourselves in because I don't see a way to reverse the current climate trend and even if so, mother earth herself will make that decision.
