A recent study indicated that prescription antidepressants in our waterways can make fish homicidal and otherwise crazy. Another recent study indicated pigs fed GMO corn and soy were more likely to have severe stomach inflammation and enlarged uteri. Put the two together and what do you get?

Also don't forget to Google each individual company, as its like a tree many branches, and support companies, some are even drug companies -- for instance there food from this company will give you heart burn so you'll buy the remedy from there drug company Tums, and so on.

Its getting to the point were we should go back to being cave men and women, hunting and gathering and buy nothing from any society on this planet, homestead or own your own farm. but then you'd need hi powered rifles to shoot down there Monsanto plains spraying everything else they don't shove poisons in. Used to be, “buyer beware” now it buyer are you insane look how’s got there hands into your food and water. And saying with a shrug of the shoulder, “I got to eat”

I’d like to know what the hell they eat, and where to get it?

I guess we need to research what exatly the EU did and apply that here in the US.

Holy excrement, reading through this long list makes it very easy to understand indeed why GMO-labelling laws are so violently opposed by their lobbyists. There would hardly be any products left that are not GMO in one way or another. I knew about a lot of products before that I put on my internal boycott list, but this is just shocking. A lot of those are obviously not available in Europe (thank fornicate!!!). I would love it if someone had country-specific lists for everyone to really learn which company even uses small percentages of GMOs in their products. Having to label all of it would pretty much finish them off and many of our best-known brands as well.

Hi Kerrigan, can you post a link for this chart? I'd like to pass it around. Good one!
I see laundry detergent in these products, does this mean there are gmo's in these? I'm wondering now if this is a graph of gmo food/products or mainly the companies that use them.

“Wondering which companies oppose GMO food labeling in the United States? During the California election of 2012 Proposition 37 (The California Right to Know Genetically Engineered Food Act) sought to bring mandatory labeling to consumers. Big business paid to shut it down by contributing more than $45 million to oppose our Right to Know if GMO's are in the food we purchase. Here is the compiled list and more information about which companies they are.”

Non-GMO Restaurants Links and Tips

"Restaurant Verification" (http://www.nongmoproject.org/product-verification/restaurant-verification/)

As part of the Non-GMO Project’s commitment to ensuring that people have access to non-GMO foods, the Project is now offering Non-GMO Project Verification to restaurants and delis. Restaurants committed to providing Non-GMO Project Verified ingredients have three options for participation in the Product Verification Program.

Verification of the Entire Restaurant/Deli
Verification of Select Dishes
Verification of Individual Ingredients

“Non-GMO Organic Restaurants (http://nongmoorganicrestaurants.com)”

“Your guide to finding Non GMO organic restaurants. Unfortunately, almost all restaurants are serving them, but luckily there are a few that are not. We focus only on "natural / organic/ local/ sustainable" restaurants because these are the least likely to have them, but sorry to say even most of them serve some GMOs. All commercial restaurants are using GMOs, so we try to find the organic ones who are serving the least amount of them. We also reveal who is claiming to be organic / sustainable but who are really using GMOs. This site is designed to educate you on how to avoid GMOs while eating out as well as to celebrate the wonderful organic restaurants who are committed to serving clean, healthy, non genetically modified real food. We have vegan, vegetarian, gluten free and grass fed meat restaurants on our list. Please let us know if you have any restaurants that are serving mostly real food and should be on our site...”

“Dine Out Non-GMO” (http://www.nongmoshoppingguide.com/dine-out-non-gmo.html)

“If you have a favorite restaurant, and you eat there often, you should only need to ask these questions once. It's helpful to have a knowledgeable server or chef guide you through the menu to help you avoid GM foods. It’s not too hard to identify the non-GMO options.

A good first question is, "What oil do you cook with?" If they use soy, cottonseed, canola, or corn oils they are likely GM if they are not organic. If so, ask if they have anything that is cooked without oil, or if olive oil or some other oil can be used. If they say they cook in "vegetable oil" or margarine, it will almost always be soy, cottonseed, canola, or corn oils. If they have olive oil, be sure it's not a blend. Many restaurants blend canola and olive.

Since most processed foods contain GM derivatives (corn and soy, for example), ask what foods the chef prepares fresh, and choose those items. But check if packaged sauces are used.

Try to avoid processed foods with the...”

Published on Mar 28, 2013

On Tuesday, President Barack Obama signed the Agriculture Appropriations Bill into law. Within the legislation exists a provision, "The Monsanto Protection Act," that has many speculating the future of food in American because it protects genetically modified seeds patents from litigation over health risks. Since Obama signed the bill, nearly 250,000 have signed a petition to President Obama. RT's Margaret Howell has more on the bill and how "frankenfish" could be making their way into supermarkets across the nation.

Here is some insight on GM food in Australia and New Zealand..

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/Pages/default.aspx) (FSANZ)
We are a bi-national Government agency. We develop and administer the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (http://www.foodstandards.gov.au/code/Pages/default.aspx), which lists requirements for foods such as additives, food safety, labelling and GM foods. Enforcement and interpretation of the Code is the responsibility of state and territory departments and food agencies within Australia and New Zealand.

How are GM foods in Australia and New Zealand assessed for safety?
"FSANZ has established a rigorous and transparent process for assessing the safety of GM foods. The safety assessment is undertaken in accordance with internationally established scientific principles and guidelines developed through the work of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, World Health Organization (WHO) and the Codex Alimentarius Commission."

Ok so let’s get this straight, the OECD (who has close ties with the IMF, World Bank, International Atomic Energy Agency and UN bodies), the WHO and the UN are developing the guidelines that determine how the GM food safety assessment is carried out?

Well then at the present moment here is how I see the situation
21825

The FSANZlists responses on their website to eight scientific studies claiming adverse effects from GM foods, ALL of the responses attempt to discredit or deny any validity of the studies
(http://archive.foodstandards.gov.au/consumerinformation/gmfoods/gmtableofstudies.cfm)

Below are excerpts from some of their responses..
“FSANZ has identified a number of significant limitations in the design and conduct of this study which means that the results, as published, do not support the interpretations of its authors”
“Séralini and colleagues reviewed animal feeding studies undertaken with various herbicide-tolerant and insect-protected GM corn and soy lines. Many of the lines included in the analysis are those previously assessed and approved by FSANZ”
“ The results from this research are not supported by other studies on the safety of glyphosate-tolerant soybeans.”
“FSANZ is confident that the minor differences observed between test and control groups in the toxicity studies are neither sex- nor dose-related and are primarily due to normal biological variability.”

From the FDA website:
9. Why aren’t foods from genetically engineered plants labeled?
"We recognize and appreciate the strong interest that many consumers have in knowing whether a food was produced using genetic engineering. Currently, food manufacturers may indicate through voluntary labeling whether foods have or have not been developed through genetic engineering, provided that such labeling is truthful and not misleading. FDA supports voluntary labeling that provides consumers with this information and has issued draft guidance to industry (http://www.fda.gov/Food/GuidanceRegulation/GuidanceDocumentsRegulatoryInformation/LabelingNutrition/ucm059098.htm) regarding such labeling."

I e-mailed myself this basic list on do not buy GMO company’s. Now I have a quick reference on my Iphone, and sent one to my wife’s Iphone as well. At Public’s we were both using the list going up and down each isle and a lady over heard us talking about what was on the do not buy list, she asked about it and gave here a copy too. And a link to this thread for more, and mentioned that Google-in GMO do not buy, hundred’s of pages information is at your finger tips, she was thrilled.

So when in the store’s make sure you raise your voice when talking to anyone about GMO anything so other’s can over hear your conversations. And may be have a few print out copy of this simple list in your pocket or purse, I gave one to the mangier of that particular store too, how much good it will do, time will only tell, but it’s a start.
