I am 28 years old, seen a bit, done a bit. I have travelled, stayed somewhere and met great people. Starting from scratch, never got money to support my travels, just earned my dollars/euros to make my experiences. My main goal in travelling was to see, how people live on other parts of the world. Planet Earth is big, but I got the chance to have a glimpse at different societies, social structures, religious beliefs and behaviour. I was very curious.

I had money, while I was travelling but mostly I was depending on others people hospitality. On purpose. There are a few hospitality exchange sites (No money) on the net, most famous:

www.couchsurfing.com
www.workaway.info
www.helpx.net
www.wwoof.net

You more or less trust a stranger to stay at your house/appartement/boat/tent whatever. Same goes in reverse. There is a verification system through references from people you met so far. I am doing this for 6 years or so and never had any bad experiences.

I had a little farm in Italy for 2 years, where I hosted young travellers and backpackers. Young in the mind...from 18 to 65 y/o. Most of them were in their 20s. They were all a great interesting bunch of people-200 people at least. Starts from bricklayers, chefs, yoga teachers, managers, school teachers, mechanics, students, university professors, carpenters, psychologists, even had a christian monk staying with me. And most of them came for relaxing and/ or recreation.

It was interesting to observe, when I was confused on whatever reasons for some weeks, I had confused young people staying at my place and we helped each others. When I had a good time, interesting characters showed up and we helped each other on another level. What a great experience. Also they helped me in the gardens and showed a lot of interest in organic agriculture, food preservation and different alternative lifestyles.
This was 4 years ago and every here and then I get some encouraging messages from my former volunteers on how they changed their lives and perception on what is going on.

So now, having my own farm here in Austria, I continued this tradition and host folks at my place. And there is a big increase of youngsters (19-23 y/o) coming at my place, interested in different healing methods. From western medicine, TCM, Yoga, Reiki, Quantum Healing and what else. Most of them have a clear vision what they would like to do...to go and heal themselves first and then help others and also assisst the environment and the planet. But with such a straight forward attitude that leaves me wondering and thinking. Coincidence? I dont think so.

So, going back to the title of this thread: I have a lot of trust in our younger generation-hell, somtimes there are only 5 years younger and show a lot of responsibility and maturity. We had such a great deal on exchanging informations, energy and ideas.

Creation works perfect, so I dont fear the future!

I look at it as, most of our 3 generations majority, raised their children under the golden rule that Christ taught, Universal Law, and Ying Yang, or Murphy's Law,(as they say out west)

I believe they are well intented, and we have this one chance to make this world a trustworthy, human consciousness of unconditional love and respect for all life, regardless of the planet. First do NO harm.

Seems to apply, and I don't want them harmed from those who would do them harm. Let the Justice begin.

Perhaps the OP is unaware that we are heading lockstep into an Orwellian Police State....& I see nothing standing in it's way ....Nothing to stop it except an

apocalyptic event that will take down TPTB......At which point the next generation will start over again....
just my humble opinion.....

I don't wanna live a life in fear it's not living it's hell:cool:

I have bookmark the pages I will prepare a place for travelers in the Philippines.

These are the sort of post I came to see on Avalon.

I trust humanity including the police. They are working to support and make their children (new generation) happy. Once they realize that the system is doing the opposite to their children, trust me they are the ones who will bring it down.

Say you don't happen to be the son of that famous shepherd who takes his sheep around Austria once a year, do you? :p

On-topic, what you say about youth is truth. We were youth once too and we used to bother people so much that they made complaints about "contemporary youth" as lacking in discipline, lacking values, etc. And look at us now, concerned about the world's well-being.

Earth takes care of herself in mysterious ways.

Imagination is more powerful than plans ... the present is more powerful than a planned future ... have some faith ;) The only variable in my mind is -- how mucky must this get?

Many see the "y" generation as lazy and feeling privileged ... the truth is, they (generally) have healthy view of what is and what could be ... and they don't like BS. I see many of the old fogies in power having huge issues with them ... this contrasts represents both the change needed, and the one coming ;)

I travelled quite a bit when I was younger. Since then I'm constantly saying to young people 'Buy a back pack and work your way round the world'. There's NOTHING like experience. I came back from my travels feeling enriched, even though I'd travelled on a shoe string - and people were SO nice to me! I try as best I can now to return the favour and take in the odd visitor when people send them. Still enriching to meet people from all over the place. I have great faith in the younger generation....not all are hypnotised.

Thanks for your sweet words :o

Say you don't happen to be the son of that famous shepherd who takes his sheep around Austria once a year, do you?

Haha, no I am not, but I do know him-his name is Hans Breuer and he is quite a character. I even met him at my hometown some years ago...he was walking along with his herd, singing Yiddish folk songs.

Most of the the generation 20-35 in most European countries have a priviliged life. That doesn not mean, that it is easier. They do not really have to worry about money, because there is mostly a middle class family in the background with some cash, if worst come to worst. The post WW2 generation were the hard working people who build up Europe again and that was there mentality. Work, work, work, build a house, make a family. This was the mentality back then and you didnt question that. This was your goal in life back then.
From my observations I can say, that there now are 3 groups of young people.

1) Because they dont have to worry about money they can go to school, university, work with more focus on their development.

2) They feel a bit lost and overwhelmed, because they could do everything and cannot make a decision, because too many choices.
They tend to dry drugs and/or get interested on the question: Why am I here?

3) They dont find a job and get rebellious against the system. Or depressed :-(

And yes travelling opens the horizon in so many ways...for me the important lesson was to trust people! Second lesson: Doesnt matter where you go, people have the same issues, problems, dreams, ideas.

At the moment I have a Dutch guy staying at my place who is travelling for 4 years now...hitchhiking, camping, couchsurfing, dumpster diving. He spent 600 Euros in this 4 years...wow.
Mostly, when you have a general good trust in people, you will meet trustful people.

So everybody is welcome at my farm...even you
