How about this? Joshua Stevens, a doctoral candidate, has put together a map of sightings compiled by BFRO: www.bfro.net

It's about time someone did this, and the results are startling! It is obvious to me that sightings can quite readily equate to a distribution map of bigfoot and related critters (Perhaps a fair percentage of sightings in Florida are of the skunk ape?).

'Joshua stops short of giving the information more credibility than it deserves' and with this line the writer distances both himself and Joshua from the obvious reality of bigfoot's existence and distribution. After all, Joshua is only a doctoral candidate, and has his career to think about. Oops, how could I be so cynical?

Every now and then a dataset comes along that just has to be mapped. This is one
of those times.

Bigfoot. Sasquatch. Skookum. Yahoo. Whatever you call it, the towering man-like
ape is a folklore staple. From stories of Yeti in the Himalayas to Wildmen in the
Pacific Northwest, people have been talking about and trying to find the creature
for ages. Occasionally, some form of evidence – like Patterson’s famous 1967 film –
emerges and either feeds our fascination or gets dismissed as a hoax. In either
case, it’s easy to see why believers search for proof and skeptics remain doubtful.

Through archival work and reports submitted directly to their website, the Bigfoot
Field Researchers Organization has amassed a database of thousands of sasquatch
sightings. Each report is geocoded and timestamped. Occasionally, even photos and
videos of the alleged evidence are included. I’m not quite sure how I stumbled
across this, but I’m glad I did.

After crawling the data and converting it to a more convenient format, I mapped
and graphed all 3,313 sightings that were reported from 1921 to 2013:

love Big foot - but some of the documentaries ive seen, they claim to have found samples that were unidentified / didnt match any primate we know of.
Really diseartening as this post states that everything found has been identified and no remains have been found.

:-( Really wish i could go bigfoot hunting myself......Although i dont think il get very far in the UK lol :-(

edit - Hunting - wrong choice of words xx

Thank you very much for this information. I live in Spokane County in Washington State and my oldest friend lives in rural Pend Oreille County and he definitely has had a presence there for at least 20 some years that I know of. He actually has had glimpses on a couple of occasions. They do have a very distinctive odor and you can feel their presence as well. I guess the younger members have a curiosity about younger members of our species so most of his experiences were during the time he had a girlfriend with a young daughter. I do suspect they are inter dimensional cavern dwellers. Very fascinating topic.

I was headed north up highway 33 in British Columbia, runnin empty with my "Big Truck", to get a load of lumber at Vernon, BC. About 30-40 miles south of Kelowna, there is a slow spot, with some windy curves that would slow me down to 20mph. A tight right hander, with a high rock wall on the right. As I came round the corner, it looked just as the one in the Patterson film. Only this one was "male". It was standing down in the ditch, (2 feet deep) and with a startled look on its face, looked me eyeball to eyeball, as I went by. That was 29 years ago and I remember those startled brown eyes as clearly today, as the day it happened.

When I was loading lumber, I got out my tape measure, and measured to the bottom of the passenger side window, 7' 1", so standing down in that 2 foot ditch, and looking straight in my window, it had to be at least 9 feet tall. And it was "massive", without any fat. Looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger covered in hair. Only about twice his size. ccc.

yep! I do believe. ccc.

According to the map there are several sitings in my current area,I have not seen any here myself.I did hear some very convincing stories from some old timers in the midwest when I was a kid,20 to 30 years ago.The descriptions they gave then were very similar to those being described at large.Would seem strange for those older fellas to come up with that information that long ago in rural Iowa with out TVs & internet. If they were pullin my leg they did a damn good job,I still love the stories.

If you take the map above and mentally lay it over David Paulides cluster map (http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Sx_fLdj7WIA/T_0OC_gw9aI/AAAAAAAAAa4/nlJjzwTRnxk/s1600/missing_map.jpg) of disappearances there is a high corollary between the two.

Too funny you beat me to it.
I'm of the opinion that most of the Paulides "Missing 411" cases are related to Sasquatch.

I'm not sure about the connection between Missing 411 and Big Foot but the Venn diagram of the two areas on the maps are striking.

I do recall David saying that Florida (or as we NYers say the 6th boro) and Texas could have its own book on disappearances. So maybe it's not the exception. Not sure if the cluster map I linked to is the most up-to-date version.

Thank you, mgray, yes I remember him saying similar or that there was some issue about the research in that state as well ... I couldn't resist a shot at Florida though. :)

ps, I was born and lived shortly just on the cornor of the Bermuda Triangle
