View Full Version : The American Blackout

Does anyone else think it is a wee bit odd that NatGeo would spend so much money to produce a movie about a cyber attack which takes the power grid down. It premiers tonight on NatGeo at 9:00 EST.

It is coming relatively close to the FEMA Nov. 13-14 grid shutdown drill and also on the heels of Janet Napolitano's infamous speech in which she speaks of the horrors to come.

It does seem that "they" are dropping hints so when it does happen, they can say it's not like we didn't say it could.

There is also an interactive website called, survive the blackout.com. I just find their timing impeccable. And we know how that often goes.

I need more water. I think I'll make a grocery run.

By the way, I updated my IPAD to IOS 7 and now I can't post videos or use Firefox. I wish I hadn't upgraded.

Hi Mandala,

I don't have TV so I don't know what they're programming into peoples' heads these days. What you say does sound odd.

My own personal take is that they are planning to shut down the grid. I live in the mid-Eastern part of the US. We and everyone north of us have just gone through an exceptionally cold spell, 30 degrees below normal temps. What this means is that the utility companies have just made a ton of money because everyone had to use their heat earlier than normal. I think this sudden cold spell was a deal made to compensate them for the shutdown to come in November, when they'll lose money because the grid will be down.

Without doubt we are pawns in the stupid games of money and power.

It's hard to imagine them being so blatantly obvious in timing. I figure they are planning to do it, but it won't be Nov 13 and 14.

Why wouldn't they be blatant about it? They have been blatant about everything since getting away with 9/11 (which in hindsight, was quite blatant!). In any event, it is best to stay prepared just in case this IS the event.

IMO, silencing "troublemakers" by cutting the power (internet) is their logical and plausible next move. They know that we're on to them, with more awakening by the minute because of the internet, and thanks to the NSA, they know who's been naughty and who's been nice, as well. Who will have the luxury of being able to communicate Truth when occupied with keeping family and neighbors warm, healthy, fed and sane (and avoiding FEMA "camps")?

Averting their plan's fruition should be a major goal. According to S.K. Bain, (The Most Dangerous Book In The World), the way to do that is to publicize what we predict their next move will be. Anyone have other suggestions?

It does seem rather conspicuous - however - I imagine the network is quite aware of the suspicious general public and the upcoming supposed dry run - thus what better time to put together a show NOW and sell primo commercial time and make some money off the backs of those really concerned. However I have to say I remember a show some network had that talked about all kinds of what if disasters and they featured New Orleans and what would happen if a major blow came through - it aired about 4 to 6 months prior to hurricane katrina. (they got the results right).

I think its worth a watch just to make you think in different directions. Because - we just don't know what the outer demon darkness has in store for us in it's collective mind.

for those who live with the cold -
not connected to this company but have their products - way good quality for the money compared to online franchise prices. http://www.wiggys.com/

It is a bit scary , they ususally do an active shooter drill , but a power grid shutdown ??? who's to say when they shutdown the power , it could have problems coming back on line , ya know too much amperage and max usage when it is fired back up ... people really panic without electricity , I have seen it first hand , my power was out for five days after a big storm , it only takes three days for a normal person to become savage and dangerous ...

Ok, I'm watching it now. There is looting, shootings, crime and fighting over a can of peaches. You got some preppers, some high techies in a pent house with no basics, not even a hand held can opener. Pregnant moms not making it to the hospitals, lots of impatient people, being totally unsafe and selfish. Pretty much what you would expect. A hot mess.

They have Marie Osmond advertising gourmet MREs on commercials and they are promoting the new season of the show Preppers. They have Obama making speeches to the public. I bet some elderly folks will be confused and think war of the worlds again.

Ok, here comes Marshall Law.

WOW! I'm speechless. I stopped watching television not long ago. First the news (a few years ago). Then, more recently, I just gave it all up. I am now 100% certain that is was one of the better choices I've made thus far. I want to say I am surprised at NatGeo, but somehow nothing really shocks me anymore. It is all just SO disappointing. Thanks for sharing this Mandala! I'm not quite a member yet, I am very new here.

I just wrote a scathing review of American Blackout to share with you all, clicked to post it and, WHAM, "the server is busy, pls try again later...", so went back to save it and it is POOF gone. Perhaps something out there didn't take to my decifering of the word PAN-DEMON-IUM...lol
Anyway, in a nut shell...bizarre

Watched first 5 minutes and turned it off. Laughably cheezy fear-porn-athon.

I get why it's on NatGEO, they ran a bunch of the Doomsday Prepper shows ahead of it and they have had good ratings, by their standard, with those over last 2 seasons.

Maybe I just don't see it, but I went to NatGeo website and find a lot about the film, "American Blackout", but no where can I watch it. Does anyone have a link to where I can watch it? Thanks!
