Cool post! There is so much we do not know. I saw a strange creature - I know not what - last summer while mowing. It came out of the woods and we looked each other eye to eye across the field, and I asked "what are you?" - it was not scared of me and started to walk down the fence line and I followed it for a bit and then it jumped back into the woods and was gone. I have searched for what this could have been, but have not found it. It looked kind of moose like, but yet not - and there are no moose in Arkansas. It was a cool experience to see something you do not know what it is.

That's some experience Horizons. How big was it? Did you notice any hoof prints, any smells...

At first I thought it was a Deer, but it was too big and shaped very different. It had a very funny shaped head with long floppy ears and it was a light tan color. The body was awkward looking with big hind quarters and had a long thin tail. It was very short haired as well. It looked very out of place! It was a very unique moment when we were looking at each other and I was trying to decipher what this was I was looking at. That is a very strange feeling. I looked for tracks but it is mostly rock and very hard soil along that tree line. I told everyone about it they all think I'm nuts - maybe I am - but I know, or don't know, what I saw. Later on I thought it might have had a message for me - I wish I would have followed it into the forest. But I will never forget the feeling I had looking at it eye to eye, totally dismayed, and full of wonder. There was something very mystical about it all.

Yes I do - those one of a kind experiences. I guess you could say I had a close encounter of a different kind :roll:

It was alive apparently when it was seen first and then kids started to stone it until they killed it

As a bit of a crypto-geek I have seen these before, I could go through and explain most of these (the giant skeleton for instance is a photoshop used in a competition, and the various mermaids/huge teethed fish out of water are the work of an artist, I can grab his site address if anyone's interested, they go for around $1-4000 average).

It was discovered by a little boy out with his parents. Kept it in a fridge for a few days then contacted the university. There was to have been a DNA test performed to find out if it really was a 'mountain mouse' as the press was now reporting, but it was then reported to have been transported to North America and the story went dead.
The boy said that the creature was still alive when he first discovered it and it was still showing signs of life when it was taken away.

There are no shortage of alien and UFO sightings in Chile. I recall reading around the same time of a common place sighting in south America, but particularly Chile, or large black flying creatures, with snouts not beaks. The example i remember was of one perched on top of a flood-light at a football game, and that perhaps the most remarkable detail was that nobody seemed bothered by it.

Hi Horizons, I know this is a 5 year old post. I just was amazed by your description. It made me think of the book by Dolores Cannon. Can't think of the name of it right now, however it was about a tribe of people on the earth eons ago. They were from a group of Ets that had landed in a remote area of earth. From the descendants was a hunter. His job was to provide the village with food. And at one time he came across a very unusual creature that he only saw once. It was believed to be from another reality. Could that be something to explain what you saw? Just thinking.....
