Great article here on being happy. (http://www.bakadesuyo.com/2013/12/happiest-people-on-earth/?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+bakadesuyo+%28Barking+up+the+wrong+tree%29#ixzz2oOUQSsXT) Most of it is kind of obvious....which isn't to say most of us do these things.

Howdy GreenGuy -
How refreshing that you broached this topic/ idea ! I am one of those that get asked, "What drug are you on, I want some" ? !
I am accused of STILL wearing " rosey glasses " . Don't get me wrong...I still fight off the need to throw up my hands at folks but, I manage to get right back to wearing rose colored glasses ! YeeHaw and woohoo !
Power to the JOY !

Great post GG,
Agree with 5 of the six
Number 5 i disagree
Running marathons is painful. Completing them is awesome. Studying is boring. Having a degree feels great.
Why the heck should I run a painful marathon, supposed I am not able to complete. I will run marathon as long as it is fun not painful. and of course the getting a degree part. It basically tells us that it's ok to live a painful life for that very brief awesome moment.
I say most of the materials out there are baited hooks. Try to learn to snatch the bait without getting hook.
number 5 alone could ruin the other five if you try to practice all. the best it can go is minimize the effect of the other 5
Happy Holidays to everyone but remember that holidays is not the only time to celebrate.Everyday is a time to celebrate and send love notes hug someone do good. be happy
notice another one
We need happy feelings but we also need meaning in our lives.
what meaning of life could there be than be happy. Basically what they describe as meaning of life is be productive. I'd rather be a "useless eater" and piss off mr kissinger and company

I am happy to say there is still a lot for me to strive for :p
Some good points here but there's nothing like a real demonstration and inspiration

Being serious now....I think that so many people naturally gravitate toward fear and anxiety...and who can blame them? The headlines, the TV shows, everything feeds that feeling of angst. And there is so little in public life that feeds joy and love. You have to look for it, you have to find it for yourself - and when you do, you have people telling you you're an airy-fairy twit.
It ain't so. Life is great. It always has been. Go back a thousand years, and life was short, brutal and painful...and yet, you had transcendent figures who showed the way. Go back five hundred or five thousand years....life on this earth has never been easy. It isn't easy now. Children are starving, women are brutalized, citizens are denied basic rights...these things never change. And yes, these things concern every one of us. Or at least they should.
But what about the individual human, what about you? Go in your bathroom right now and take a long look at the person you see in the mirror. That is the person who can make you happy or miserable, free or a slave, and that is the only person who determines what effect your life has on this world.
Some of you will say I'm just full of crap....I have rose-colored glasses, I'm unrealistic. A few folks will know exactly where I'm coming from. Let's drop a few love bombs.

I gotta clean my mirror....
..but seriously, Greenguy you're awesome. :)
There is nothing better than cooking on a wood stove, using wood you've cut yourself.
I am *this* close to tiny housing myself. This very well could be the year.
Be the bliss people!
Oh yeah, and clean your mirrors. ;)
