Hello Avalonians! This is my first thread on the forums, and I am glad to be with you all. There are many interesting phenomena and people out there in this big world of ours. Peter Ragnar is considered a legend by many of us city folks. Born in a pre-baby boomer era, he has maintained his youth, and vitality through the practice of Qi Gong.

On top of that, he eats a raw food diet, practices martial arts, and is known to be freakishly strong.

He lives the life of a hermit deep in the woods of the USA and has been known to give lectures on health and longevity. Many people who have met him have reported that he has the ability of clairvoyancy. People usually say that "once you get old, you get weak", but this man seems to defy the odds!
There used to be a youtube video of him lifting massive amounts of weights, but I can't seem to find it. If I ever dig it up, I will be sure to post it here! ;)

Welcome to you. Extreme physicality never did it for me, all that energy for what? Vanity comes to mind- but that is the beauty of the human- we all follow the path that vibrates in tune with each individual.

:gasp: There is no harm in having a lot of energy. I do not follow the path of extreme fitness, but it is quite admirable. Perhaps it is vanity that leads to such achievements of the body, or that desire to stay vital. Perhaps it is both. :O
Another old timer, and she is a female!

Good thread! Lifted me up today. Thank you, Sanctus!

Here are Peter Ragnar's website and facebook http://www.longevitysage.com/, https://www.facebook.com/sensei.peter.ragnar

Qi Gong is one powerful body-mind system.

Regarding weight lifting, if you ask some of the practitioners which one is better- cardio or weights, many who actually understand the science and biochemistry of the body will tell you that lifting weights is far better than cardio both for men and women.
I see no vanity in what he is doing. If you follow your needs [and desires] there is nothing wrong with expelling some energy this way. He has a rather proportionate physique.

Sweet looking person from my view point.

Thank you for stopping by! Qi Gong is a very fascinating subject! The wisdom of the East truly perplexes me.
I believe that Peter Ragnar owned another website by the name of roaringlionpublications.com, but it seems to be owned by someone else now. They sold these strong magnets for Qi Gong practice.
Peter does Qi Gong while standing on powerful magnets, and proposes that this allows him to absorb more Chi from the Earth.
"Consider that the natural earth's magnetism as at one time 4.0 gauss. Today it is only .04 gauss, and in most of the structures in which we live and work - 0.0 gauss. The magnets you'll be using have 3,950 gauss and will penerate 15-20 inches. Both your nervous system and immune function will be greatly enhanced. After much research and study, scientists have found magnetism safe and beneficial."
The ancients were familiar with the power of lodestones, and it seems that this modern sage seems to have picked up on it! He says the magnets is one of the secrets to his longevity and vitality.
As for weights, I agree with what you have said, chocolate. Lifting weights in moderation and safely will lead to big gains in health!

Peter is a good guy. He always responded to my emails promptly. His books and DVDs are very good. To read his history and anecdotes, it would seem that he must be 70 years old, but doesn't look over 50. A remarkable man. His body of knowledge is amazing. His level of consciousness and awareness is very high.

This is so cool! Thank you, conk, for sharing.
So my intuition works just fine :). [never knew the man before today...]

Sanctus, if you find Qi Gong fascinating, why don't you just give it a try.
You can find a lot of free information online.
Here is something more to get you motivated:
http://shifuyanlei.blogspot.co.uk/

At first I found Lee Holden's videos, and after that I bought a good book on Qi Gong. For a while I attended taiji chuan, but left because of the teacher and the way the whole thing was structured here.

and

Conk, any chance of persuading Peter Ragnar [ his name makes me think of Vikings :) ] to join here and share some of his knowledge? With the permission of the moderators and Bill, of course.

I seriously doubt it. He is very quiet, unassuming man. He is not of this world and has no desire to be. He's a recluse of sorts, venturing out occasionally to share his wisdom. His workshops are always sold out. He doesn't come out his woods often.

Perfect! Sounds very much like me. And I am still here, occasionally.
I may decide to contact Peter Ragnar through Facebook. After all, he doesn't need to make a step out of the woods, the forum exists everywhere where there is an internet connection.
I may use my female charms together with my not-so-perfect English... may be... may be not. I will see what I will dream tonight. ;)

In the meantime: Sanctus, sorry to derail your thread a bit. And congratulations on becoming an Avalon member.

Quick edit: I will not bother disturbing the person. Made a quick search of the forum, and conk, you are right.

Hey, it's not a big deal. Thank you for the welcome!
I will check out the links you've sent me.
I got this awesome free webinar with Tristan and Peter Ragnar discussing the benefits of Qi Gong and it's proper application.

Oh goodness, all are good. He is a great story teller too. Just pick one with subject matter that resonates with you. You may wind up buying them all anyway. ;)

Oh my. I think I just might. ;)
For anyone interested in living off of Nature like the Magical Man Peter, I recommend Markus Rothkranz's "Free Food and Medicine". It is a very comprehensive book on wild plants and their medicinal value.
