This article and video about a NH guy walking home with his groceries and being harassed by a local cop just infuriated me.

http://www.activistpost.com/2015/03/new-england-cop-harasses-guy-walking.html.

Ultimately, the outcome was positive for this citizen. Yet, the man knew his Constitutional rights and was still arrested for "trespassing" for not caving to the cop by producing his ID or giving out his full name and address.

I've met some good cops in my life and know they have a tough job to do that often goes unappreciated. But I've also met some cops along the way who were clearly drunk on their own presumed power, and I fear this is on the rise. In fact, several former cops told me they got out because they couldn't stand what was happening to their profession.

I think the only recourse is to make sure everyone knows their (albeit eroding) Constitutional and/or other legal rights upon being stopped by police -- and to make sure that when incidents like this happen, that we all register our protests when we see videos like this. In later posts I will try to post/gather information on what our various (legal and/or natural) "rights" are in such situations -- but I hope others will also step in with relevant information too.

Which Constitution?

Primary info: Be aware that you are most likely not a "U.S. citizen."
If you are not, you are not a member of the government corporation.
If you are not a member of the corporation, then you are not subject to its rules.

Thank you. I've seen threads about the U.S. being a "corporation" and no longer (if ever) a Constitutional Republic, and I know that Sean David Morton does a presentation about how to extricate from the "corporate system," but to be honest I don't really understand how that works in practical terms when you are pulled over while driving or stopped while walking by a perhaps overzealous police officer. Do you just inform them that you are not a citizen of the US corporation and then they just move on and say have a nice day? Or do you get arrested anyways for being a smart a**?

I do think that knowing one's Constitutional Rights can be useful in such a situation, but I don't think most Americans truly know them -- myself included. Unfortunately, despite having a 4th Amendment right that purports to protect a citizen against "Unreasonable Search & Seizures," the states are all over the map about what procedures a police officer must/may follow to comply with the law. To help educate myself, I found this website to be useful and easy to digest:

http://www.flexyourrights.org/

What I learned from this site so far, in relation to the original video I posted, is that:

1. 24 states have laws that allow police to require you to identify yourself if they have "reasonable suspicion" that you are involved in criminal activity.
2. One way to determine if the officer thinks he/she has "reasonable suspicion" is to ask him/her: "Officer are you detaining me, or am I free to go?"
3. If the officer tells you you are detained, you might say something like: "I'm not required to show you ID, but my name is [full name]."
4. If a person is not "reasonably suspected of committing a crime," they are not required to provide identification, even in states that have "stop and identify" statutes.

Of course, "reasonable suspicion" is rather vague, with lots of room for potential abuse, so I'm hoping to get a better grasp on what that is supposed to entail....
