This is wonderful news and I'm so happy for this country!! It's been a long time coming and further proof of equal rights for all.

Let the haters hate some other day; today is for love for all, y'all!

I am very happy to hear this. The way I have always seen it is that marriage is a contract, and that to deny marriage to same-sex couples was to deny them their right-to-contract. No one should be denied their right to contract. So I don't know on what grounds the Supreme Court decided the case...I'm just glad they decided the way they did :) Score one for The Bill of Rights.

The whole modern world is moving towards this sort of equality for everyone. Yet here in Canada our governing Conservatives still to this very day officially object to same sex marriage. Despite multiple policy conventions no one can seem to find the time to remove this policy. Their official stance is to ban same sex marriage and if it were politically convenient they would do it. With two decisions in two days, the US Supreme Court has effectively wiped out 50% of the Republican platform.

It is good news in respect to marriage for all as a legal contract for various practical reasons.

On the flip side, it will give a whole new segment of the population the opportunity to experience divorce as well. ;)

sad , that something is only validated when government acknowledges it ... they shouldn't matter in the affairs of human beings ... they are always in our way ...

I think it's best to keep in mind that this was not some act of intentional empowerment of the populace or contribution to the upholding of their freedom. In the minds of those manipulating these big and smaller changes, it's additional contributing to the moral degradation of society like all the other things that have been steered to creep in over time and become the new norm. For examples, there is zero effort being made to use the available technology to track horrific porn, the sex trade, the trafficking trade, etc, the former tv/cable censorship standards are almost all gone and the promotion of cheap, impersonal sexuality is woven into the fabric of media both blatantly and in subconscious ways starting with cartoons. It's much easier to control a morally bereft populace. Hopefully the aspect of gay marriage will backfire on them in terms of lots more love and tolerance created instead, especially among those still vehemently opposed to it.

yes, the past couple of weeks once again has been busy with engineered distractions. This is and was engineered to allow the TPP to pass unacknowledged.
On the subject of Gay marriage. I wonder what is going to happen with the many churches that are under federal tax exempt status when they refuse to acknowledge marriage requests between same sex couples?
We could see the abolishment of church rights through the federal strong arm.
Everything that our Govt does that may seem righteous is alway engineered this way not for the betterment of their people but for the gain and conquest of their powers. Always!

Too funny, although I wasn't aware of the TPP distraction aspect.

to think that this was a win for the people of equality, is ignorant. Keep in mind all of histories "movements" and small wins are programmed to be something more. Take the woman's movement. it was a way to tax the other half of society. this is a "win" in everyone's eyes, but the govt/rulers let you take one step forward when in reality they continue to win and take large strides. It is the illusion of freedom. this is the gateway to transhumanism. Which will be the future.

i am with the above post that ghostrider posted about it being sad that it takes govt acknowledgement for this to be a big deal. It is almost as if we are giving them power they do not posses. We in the end empower this entity to have validity.
