Interesting choice of words in a trailer for a TV show called "The Get Down" on Netflix.

The pale-faced media tells us we're all going to hell. But maybe we just the first ones to light the fire. I'm trying to snuff it out, but that's like oxygen to a flame.
Now I know in context 'Pale-faced Media' probably, in part, refers to the Caucasian dominated media but I can't help thinking that 'pale' also refers to a faint 'mass media, Inc'. That one sufficiently awake, of such a media, is able to see right through it's game.
The fire, among other things, is a people awaken to the game the media is playing. Any obvious attempt to squelch the people most awake, only serves to awakens more people.
