The angry sun

For months mounting fear has driven researchers to wring their hands over the approaching solar storms. Some have predicted devastating solar tsunamis that could wipe away our advanced technology, others voiced dire warnings that violent explosions on the surface of the sun could reach out to Earth, breach our magnetic field, and expose billions to high intensity X-rays and other deadly forms of cancer-causing radiation.

I wonder if this phenomenon (change in decay rates of elements) could correlate to the discovery of strange PHOTONS entering the earth's atmosphere discovered last Spring......................rather than neutrinos.

After reading the comments of Sullivan and Adelberger (http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/80beats/2010/08/26/scientist-smackdown-are-solar-neutrinos-messing-with-matter/), both eminent in this field, I believe there is still a great deal of room for healthy scientific scepticism of these results. These are early days.

Thanks for posting.

Some history for those who are not familiar:

On September 1–2, 1859, the largest recorded geomagnetic storm occurred. Aurorae were seen around the world, most notably over the Caribbean; also noteworthy were those over the Rocky Mountains that were so bright that their glow awoke gold miners, who began preparing breakfast because they thought it was morning.

Telegraph systems all over Europe and North America failed. Telegraph pylons threw sparks and telegraph paper spontaneously caught fire. Some telegraph systems appeared to continue to send and receive messages despite having been disconnected from their power supplies.

From August 28, 1859 until September 2, numerous sunspots and solar flares were observed on the sun. Just before noon on September 1, the British astronomer Richard Carrington observed the largest flare, which caused a massive coronal mass ejection (CME) to travel directly toward Earth, taking 18 hours. This is remarkable because such a journey normally takes three to four days. It moved so quickly because it was concluded that an earlier CME had cleared its way.

Distants from Sun to earth: 149,597,870.7 kilometres or 92,955,807.27 miles, Now we must also understand that this event (CME) was in direct alignment with the earth, in other words a bullseye.

Ice cores show evidence that events of this magnitude – as measured by high-energy proton radiation, not geomagnetic effect – occur approximately once per 500 years, with events 1/5 as large occurring several times per century. Less severe storms have occurred in 1921 and 1960, when widespread radio disruption was reported.

Picked this up also:

Solar storms (even smaller ones) take a cumulative toll on the transformers in our power grid. Transformers in the northern states need to be replaced more frequently than in lower latitudes. If the variable line up and we are hit directly with a solar superstorm, it will take longer than months to repair the damage.

The current lead time for large transformers is 3 YEARS and the worldwide capacity is only a few hundred per year. It's not a matter of Chicken Little, it about simple facts. This has happened in the past, it will happen again and the power grid in North America is the most vulnerable because of the extensive grid and the position on the globe.

Doing nothing guarantees the worst outcome. After Quebec lost power in the 1989 solar storm, they spent $4.3Billion to upgrade their transmission network and very little was mentioned in the press about it.

Why do I have a feeling that the sun is going to play a huge factor in the coming years. I guess the big question is, will these rays mutate us?

Because you're RIGHT. And of course the rays will play a part in our transformation, why would you think that they wouldn't?

Could this be the effect of the wave frequency that is coming from the galactic center... which is responsible for evolution on this planet? David Wilcock talked about this in one of his videos. I think it was 56,000 year cycle that they found evidence of spikes in new species found on this planet. There was a good graph that depicted this.

If scientist really admit that Carbon-14 is no longer decaying at a constant rate, then this will make all carbon dating results pretty much useless: who is to say that in the past the decay rate has been constant and not altered by some other forces as the article suggests?

As for "neutrinos being the cause" this starts to sound more and more like the 2012 movie, so I am a bit suspicious.

The North American Grid has two bases; (Québec and Texas).

It is ironic that the two most Sovereignist Regions of North America bears on their shoulders the whole North American Grid.

Texas bear west of the Mississippi and Québec East of the Mississippi.

Texas has already upgraded their main lines but private Corps outside Texas and Québec are slow, very slow to move,

The Texas power grid is not connected to the other power grids and in that sense is somewhat autonomous, interestingly.

Now evidence has surfaced that something potentially more dangerous is happening deep within the hidden core of our life-giving star: never-before-seen particles—or some mysterious force—is being shot out from the sun and it’s hitting Earth.

Whatever it is, the evidence suggests it’s affecting all matter.

Strange and unknown

Alarmed physicists first became aware of this threat over the past several years. Initially dismissed as an anomaly, now frantic scientists are shooting e-mails back and forth to colleagues across the world attempting to grasp exactly what is happening to the sun.

Strange and unknown

Alarmed physicists first became aware of this threat over the past several years. Initially dismissed as an anomaly, now frantic scientists are shooting e-mails back and forth to colleagues across the world attempting to grasp exactly what is happening to the sun.

Something impossible has happened. Yet the “impossible” has been proven to be true. Laboratories around the globe have confirmed that the rate of radioactive decay—once thought to be a constant and a bedrock of science—is no longer a constant. Something being emitted from the sun is interacting with matter in strange and unknown ways with the startling potential to dramatically change the nature of the very Earth itself.

Exactly what has scientists so on edge is the fact that the natural rate of decay of atomic particles has always been predictable. Indeed, using the decay rate of Carbon-14 has been a method to date archeological artifacts. The process, known as carbon dating, measures the quantity of Carbon-14 within organic objects. According to the numbers, Carbon-14 has a specific half-life of 5,730 years. Physicists have proven through exhaustive observation and experimentation over the course of a century that it takes 5,730 years for Carbon-14 atoms to decay into a stable Nitrogen-14.

The values don’t change—or at least they never have in the past. With certain evidence that radioactive decay can be significantly affected by an unknown effect from the sun, much of science is turned on its head.

It's a mystery that presented itself unexpectedly: The radioactive decay of some elements sitting quietly in laboratories on Earth seemed to be influenced by activities inside the sun, 93 million miles away.

Is this possible?

Researchers from Stanford and Purdue University believe it is. But their explanation of how it happens opens the door to yet another mystery.

There is even an outside chance that this unexpected effect is brought about by a previously unknown particle emitted by the sun. "That would be truly remarkable," said Peter Sturrock, Stanford professor emeritus of applied physics and an expert on the inner workings of the sun.

The story begins, in a sense, in classrooms around the world, where students are taught that the rate of decay of a specific radioactive material is a constant. This concept is relied upon, for example, when anthropologists use carbon-14 to date ancient artifacts and when doctors determine the proper dose of radioactivity to treat a cancer patient

Is the Sun Emitting a Mystery Particle?

When probing the deepest reaches of the Cosmos or magnifying our understanding of the quantum world, a whole host of mysteries present themselves. This is to be expected when pushing our knowledge of the Universe to the limit.

But what if a well-known -- and apparently constant -- characteristic of matter starts behaving mysteriously?

This is exactly what has been noticed in recent years; the decay rates of radioactive elements are changing. This is especially mysterious as we are talking about elements with "constant" decay rates -- these values aren't supposed to change. School textbooks teach us this from an early age.

WATCH VIDEO: A solar eruption sends a wave of plasma hurtling towards Earth on Aug. 1, 2010. The event was captured by NASA satellites.

This is the conclusion that researchers from Stanford and Purdue University have arrived at, but the only explanation they have is even weirder than the phenomenon itself: The sun might be emitting a previously unknown particle that is meddling with the decay rates of matter. Or, at the very least, we are seeing some new physics.

Many fields of science depend on measuring constant decay rates. For example, to accurately date ancient artifacts, archaeologists measure the quantity of carbon-14 found inside organic samples at dig sites. This is a technique known as carbon dating.

Carbon-14 has a very defined half-life of 5730 years; i.e. it takes 5,730 years for half of a sample of carbon-14 to radioactively decay into stable nitrogen-14. Through spectroscopic analysis of the ancient organic sample, by finding out what proportion of carbon-14 remains, we can accurately calculate how old it is

ok so I have read all the material here as well as the material linked in the original story at world awareness and I have an important question

is this a "new" discovery of something that has always been there effecting decay rates and matter, but has up until now gone unnoticed?

or is this something that has changed recently, in which we are comparing old records with current records and seeing a "new" change?

the distinction is rather important to a lot of 2012 theories

It is suspected that that it is a known continual function, just recently realized as existing. That's about the only conclusion I can come to, so far. If indeed all of this is 'real'.

The reality is that there is no comparative data set available, if it was an unknown thing from before as opposed to happening now.

As an example, if this is indeed happening and has always happened, how does one being to test for it? The parameters need to be realized and that has yet to take place. Meaning, the situation surrounding it needs to be tested, ie a measuring rod of some sort needs to emerge and then a differential must be observed.

Since it is a case of simply realizing a change in decay exists, then what is the source and how does not block or alter the effect so a differential can be realized? If a test can be devised that realizes a differential, then... what does that mean?

The basic test or created (idealized) test to find evidence of a differential has yet to take place, to my knowledge, so the whole thing exists as a singularity in limbo, for the greater part. The likeliest thing to do is to find a method of shielding and then one can realize a differential, and then work from there. At this point no one knows what shielding is or can be, regarding these records of suspected decay changes.

We are apparently going through a major and fairly dense interstellar dust cloud right now. And that this would be expected to change the overall MeV charge levels of interstellar space. Charge levels are expressed as massive voltage differentials. (In imaging of molecules and atoms, with electron microscopes, the higher the charge level the system is capable of, generally, the higher the level of magnification that is available) Ie polarized matter and space as differentials. This is the 'electric universe' model that has been suggested by many people for many years now, to supplant the local gravity ideas of the basics of nature and dimensional reality. ie, gravity is a local pull. electric universe says that the universe is electric and that gravity (and thus time) is a secondary force and a primary force is electrical potential differentials, or geometric vector analysis of molecular and vacuum (aether) space/matter integration. Thus space as an elastic, polarized or aligned electrical potential.

That parameter, in in the overall quanta and Newtonian integration levels indicating the characteristics of matter/space/time. This is the only and most likely way to make it to integrating the aspects of known spooky action at a distance, dimensional travel and psychic activities, etc. As well as the current behavior of this radioactive decay and the sun emitting something. this also plays directly into alchemy, anti gravity, the yellowbook device, the jumproom to mars and project looking glass. As well as my current speculations on the great pyramid being a tuned electret that is piezoelectric in nature and construction. everyting fits.

To top it off, I just bought Dr. Micheal newton's latest book on 'lives between lives' where people don't just recall incarnation at different times and paces but they recall their experiences in-between lives in their dis-incarnated ethereal form.

Within that book is an accounting of how one person recalled being what is known in that 'spiritual' realm as a budding 'timelord'. One who works with dimensions and time.

http://books.google.ca/books?id=xPgQMelnLLkC&printsec=frontcover&dq=memories+of+the+afterlife&source=bl&ots=6qxfodpjlm&sig=0Y_85n40GGg8IqYsePRezc8cFi8&hl=en&ei=odoYTd79DoL_nAfbtODbDQ&sa=X&oi=book_result&ct=result&resnum=3&ved=0CCwQ6AEwAg#v=onepage&q&f=false

The point is that this person, in the hypnotic superconscious state... directly related (spoke on) the elastic accordion-like polarized aspects of an electric based dimensional space/time/gravity situation, with regard to time, timelines, and dimensional travel. How to squeeze and stretch the polarized forces and alignments for the purposes of dimensional, probability, and temporal manipulation and travel. The mentioned passage is basically, one sentence long. But.... the potential context in that sentence ....was not lost on me.

Nikola Tesla suggested that some type of ray may trigger radioactive decay

It might as well be neutrinos produced in the Sun since they are associated with nuclear reactions and are detected by their triggering a nuclear reaction

The strange case of solar flares and radioactive elements

When researchers found an unusual linkage between solar flares and the inner life of radioactive elements on Earth, it touched off a scientific detective investigation that could end up protecting the lives of space-walking astronauts and maybe rewriting some of the assumptions of physics.

On Dec 13, 2006, the sun itself provided a crucial clue, when a solar flare sent a stream of particles and radiation toward Earth. Purdue nuclear engineer Jere Jenkins, while measuring the decay rate of manganese-54, a short-lived isotope used in medical diagnostics, noticed that the rate dropped slightly during the flare, a decrease that started about a day and a half before the flare.

If this apparent relationship between flares and decay rates proves true, it could lead to a method of predicting solar flares prior to their occurrence, which could help prevent damage to satellites and electric grids, as well as save the lives of astronauts in space.

The decay-rate aberrations that Jenkins noticed occurred during the middle of the night in Indiana – meaning that something produced by the sun had traveled all the way through the Earth to reach Jenkins’ detectors. What could the flare send forth that could have such an effect?

Jenkins and Fischbach guessed that the culprits in this bit of decay-rate mischief were probably solar neutrinos, the almost massless particles famous for flying at nearly the speed of light through the physical world – humans, rocks, oceans or planets – with virtually no interaction with anything.

Sturrock knew from long experience that the intensity of the barrage of neutrinos the sun continuously sends racing toward Earth varies on a regular basis as the sun itself revolves and shows a different face, like a slower version of the revolving light on a police car. His advice to Purdue: Look for evidence that the changes in radioactive decay on Earth vary with the rotation of the sun. “That’s what I suggested. And that’s what we have done.”

Going back to take another look at the decay data from the Brookhaven lab, the researchers found a recurring pattern of 33 days. It was a bit of a surprise, given that most solar observations show a pattern of about 28 days – the rotation rate of the surface of the sun.

The explanation? The core of the sun – where nuclear reactions produce neutrinos – apparently spins more slowly than the surface we see. “It may seem counter-intuitive, but it looks as if the core rotates more slowly than the rest of the sun,” Sturrock said.

All of the evidence points toward a conclusion that the sun is “communicating” with radioactive isotopes on Earth, said Fischbach.

So when the radioactive rate of decay is not constant then the Earth is not 4.54 billion years old ; )

---

Accelerated Decay

Recent experiments commissioned by the RATE group indicate that "1.5 billion years" worth of nuclear decay have taken place, but in one or more short periods 4000 - 8000 years ago. This would shrink the alleged 4.5 billion year radioisotope age of the earth to only a few thousand years.
