I've learned over the years never to dare make predictions :) — but I do have to say, if I may, that I have the genuine sense that we may see a few miracles before us this coming year.

Some of these may be spontaneous, and some may be births that are a little difficult. But for the first time in quite a while, I have the sense of real optimism and the perception of major, irreversible changes, all of which will be good ones.

But we still have to be patient and some news will look like bad news while it actually will open the road for very positive developments.

So Happy New Year to all!

I hope everyone has a wonderful upcoming year! I plan to do the traditional cooking the black-eyed peas. I rarely make black-eyed peas because I am not in love with the flavor of them. Every year I am up for a challenge of making this legume tasty. I have decided to try two versions. The first is a dish from India called lobia, it has several options of things to put into the dish that look very good, so I am excited to try it. The other option is using black-eyed peas with another legume and mixing it into a version of baked beans, possibly BBQ into it with a slight amount of bourbon to flavor it. Then I plan to share it with family tomorrow with hope of good luck. On the plus side the meal itself is reasonable in price, a new experiment in cooking, and it is good to make a dish with love and share it. Other plans would be to become healthy, and maybe a little wiser.

Me, too. I catch tiny miracles every day. I no longer call them miracles because now I see it as a natural progression of my changed beliefs catching up with what’s always been possible. When we all begin to notice personal miracles (tiny miracles are big), then we as a whole create and nurture a new paradigm.

One goal of mine, in 2017 is not hold to any beliefs. A tall order…for sure. Oops! That’s a belief. http://avalonlibrary.net/paula/smilies/belly-laugh.gif
Beliefs are stepping stones, until I bungy-jump without a rope. Live spontaneous life and ideally in harmony with all other co-creators.

There are going to be some major flops for negative actions.
These in turn will let some BIG CAT's out of the bag for all to see.

Also have to say, I have never had Butterfly's in my gut before a New year o.0

Jules, I just made my black eyed peas this afternoon. It's good to hear from someone else who follows that tradition. I do like the taste, and just use a bay leaf, a little broth and, maybe some ham instead of the "salt pork" I used to use. Clearly, I am not a vegetarian! ✌️
I am encouraged by others' optimistic postings about the new year because I have a very good feeling about the coming year, too. Peace and good wishes to all.

Seems I’m not the only one here to resonate with this. Recently I’ve had a similar feeling. As though a threshold has been crossed, and for the better. As though something has been anchored. A seed that is germinating, making its way to the surface and the light. There’s certainly been enough heavy duty muck to transmute during the process.

:)

Blessings to all for an uplifting New Year, and enlightening journey through 2017...

As we enter 2017 Vladimir Putin is enemy number 1'ish , the title he has held
according to the White House and others, on and off over the past two decades.
He may well have his faults but he has been elected democratically and the
cold war rhetoric and hype by the alpha bet agencies and western media is just
as damaging in creating another cold war mentality , which only feeds the mil

Putin's New Year Address 2017: Challenging year brought us closer together

The challenges endured by Russia in 2016 have only strengthened the
nation’s unity and aspirations for success, thus showing the way forward,
President Vladimir Putin says, in his traditional New Year message
televised at several minutes before midnight.

Happy New Year to all Avalonians and guests. May 2017 be your best year yet.
Here is the traditional Scottish version of Auld Lang Syne.
TWT-4UTwdE8
And here are the words, with modern English translation following:

Auld Lang Syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And auld lang syne!

Chorus:
For auld lang syne, my jo,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne.

And surely you'll be your pint stoup,
And surely I'll be mine,
And we'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne!

Chorus

We twa hae ran about the braes,
And pou'd the gowans fine,
But we've wander'd monie a weary fit
Sin' auld lang syne.

Chorus

We twa hae paidl'd in the burn
Frae morning sun til dine,
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin' auld lang syne.

Chorus

And there's a hand, my trusty fiere,
And gie's a hand o' thine,
And we'll tak a right gude willie waught
For auld lang syne!

Chorus

Meaning of unusual words:
Auld lang syne = Former days and friends
jo = dear
stoup = tankard
gowans = daisies
braid = broad
Gude willie waught = friendly draught

Here is the "translation" into modern English. There is no doubt that Burns did it better!

Days Long Ago

Should old acquaintances be forgotten
And never be remembered?
Should old acquaintances be forgotten
and days long ago.

Chorus:
For days long ago, my dear,
For days long ago
We'll drink a cup of kindness yet
For days long ago!

And surely you'll have your pint tankard
And surely I'll have mine.
And we'll drink a cup of kindness yet
For days long ago.

Chorus

We two have run about the hills
And pulled the daisies fine
But we've wandered many a weary mile
Since the days long ago.

Chorus

We two have paddled in the stream
From morning sun till dinner-time
But the broad seas have roared between us
Since the days long ago.

Chorus

And here's my hand, my trusty friend,
And give me your hand too,
And we will take an excellent good-will drink
For the days of long ago.

Dinner for One (http://www.france24.com/en/20161231-northern-europe-its-not-new-years-eve-without-english-film-unknown-uk)
This New Year’s Eve, just before midnight, millions of revellers will do the same thing they do every year. They will pause their celebrations to watch a short piece of comedic English dinner theatre that few people in Britain even remember.

More than 50 years ago a German television channel made a recording of a performance of a two-character British comedy sketch called “Dinner for One” that went on to be the most frequently aired television programme ever, according to the Guinness World Records Book, and now has become as integral on New Year’s Eve for many Europeans as champagne and fireworks . . .
