I just see it as a stolen SS laptop. The SS protect Trump. Someone has stolen info that can be used to breach his security, and kill him.
The CIA would be following every SS person around Trump 24/7. Someone saw a chance and grabbed it.

A Secret Service agent's laptop was stolen with sensitive information and officials
discovered the intruder who jumped the White House fence was on the grounds for
16 minutes before being caught.

This could be put into the media to intimidate/threaten Trump, or give plausible deniability to an assassination attempt, but it also had security details for Hillary Clinton and others, and who knows what other information. The Secret Service has been compromised numerous times, including with pedogate-type people, at least one of whom was arrested fairly recently. The NYPD is involved in the investigation into this laptop, and the NYPD, despite its past, seems to be less corrupt today than the FBI has become, for example, so it's interesting that they will have jurisdiction.
If it's not just what it appears to be on the surface (SS corruption allowing important info to be compromised) then chances are good that it'll turn out to be another deeper chess move, a baiting tactic of some sort, maybe of the SS itself, just as the MSM was baited into admitting to the wiretapping of Trump before he made the public accusation, just as the media were baited into coming up with their "fake news" meme so that it could be turned around on them, and just as the Trump team has set a lot of other traps so far that the arrogant elitist types have fallen right into.
Trump's security detail isn't just SS. There are articles that were published before denying that SS agents were angry that Trump was complementing them with private security, but I'd say that someone actually was pretty pissed about that, because Trump is supplementing them with other security, including former Blackwater mercenaries, and his longstanding private security detail.

That stolen laptop story is getting weirder and weirder. Different sources are reporting different things about it, and attributing different sources of their own.
First it was stolen by someone who broke into a SS agent's car. Then another source on the story said that the laptop was sitting on top of a motorcycle and in a driveway and was taken that way. Witnesses to it may have been fabricated by media sources, and the Washington Post (confirmed CIA payroll) and Huffington Post didn't cover the story at all, which says something in itself.
The original scoop seems to have been that the Secret Service laptop had files on the HRC email investigation, which makes no sense. The manner in which it was taken, if accurate (whether a car, or especially from a motorcycle), suggests it was a deliberate leak to a 3rd party.

Key Democratic officials are clearly worried about the expectations that have been purposely stoked and are now trying to tamp them down. Many of them have tried to signal that the beliefs the base has been led to adopt have no basis in reason or evidence.
The latest official to throw cold water on the MSNBC-led circus is President Obama’s former acting CIA chief Michael Morell. What makes him particularly notable in this context is that Morell was one of Clinton’s most vocal CIA surrogates. In August, he not only endorsed Clinton in the pages of the New York Times but also became the first high official to explicitly accuse Trump of disloyalty, claiming, “In the intelligence business, we would say that Mr. Putin had recruited Mr. Trump as an unwitting agent of the Russian Federation.”
But on Wednesday night, Morell appeared at an intelligence community forum to “cast doubt” on “allegations that members of the Trump campaign colluded with Russia.” “On the question of the Trump campaign conspiring with the Russians here, there is smoke, but there is no fire at all,” he said, adding, “There’s no little campfire, there’s no little candle, there’s no spark. And there’s a lot of people looking for it.”
Well now they have FBI director Comey apparently backing the coup attempt against Trump or at least hedging his bets. Comey himself has a bad history defending the elites from legal issues (including the Clinton family) and was a political appointment under Obama.

"incidental collection" by intelligence agencies, a Republican lawmaker says.
House intelligence committee chairman Devin Nunes said individuals were
named in "widely disseminated" reports, which he said was "totally inappropriate".
Mr Nunes said this was not evidence to back Mr Trump's claim that Barack
Obama had ordered wiretapping of Trump Tower.
But when asked if he felt vindicated, Mr Trump said: "I somewhat do."
Mr Nunes also insisted the collected information was not linked to an FBI
investigation into alleged links between the Trump team and Russian officials
during the election campaign.He said the incidental collection was apparently
legal but "I don't know if it's right", adding that some of the information he
had seen "seems to be inappropriate".
Such gathering of intelligence is usually related to communications US
individuals have with foreign powers.But American citizens involved in such
incidental information are usually unidentified.

House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes said Wednesday that President Donald
Trump's personal communications may have been picked up by investigators
through "incidental collection."
Nunes said at a news conference he discovered the potential surveillance of Trump
himself while reviewing intelligence reports, but said it was not related to Russia.
"This is a normal, incidental collection, based on what I could collect," Nunes
said. "This appears to be all legally collected foreign intelligence under" the Foreign
Intelligence Surveillance Act.
