Kaku has been saying that for about a year and nobody really takes him seriously, which I find quite strange.
that would depend on who is "nobody".
"they" are building large underground shelters, cities really I have haerd (as you have). And Bill Gates with his seed-bank. Quite strange, indeed.
of course our tv-watching breathren will not get it, not from kaku anyway, it had to be a football-player, or maybe an actor would do. or miss teen america? (just kidding)
I've found a lot of everyday people have surprised me recently with questions about things that I didn't think they would be thinking about. Something is changing and a lot of people feel it instinvtively but don't really know where to look for alternative information...But I have a sense there is a new urgency of a kind amongst very normal people who's minds would have been closed to this kind of stuff only a few years back. Maybe all those bleak Hollywood catastrophe films are finally hitting home? :p
I feel all this worry is much ado about nothing in regards to "end of life"...It is, in my opinion, "end of life as we have known it" which is not the same thing......It means Humanity will join the galactic community.......
Much Light & awaiting upliftment of Humanity!!

Solar Update + Sunspot 1059 Numbered (March 27)
A new sunspot emerged on the eastern limb and was numbered 1059 on Saturday. This region is an alpha sunspot and should not stir up much activity in the short term. It will however provide another area of the sun to watch over the next few days. Sunspot 1057 has produced multiple C-Class flares, the largest of which was a C3.8 flare at 18:29 UTC on Saturday. This region spans the size of atleast 3 planet earths and has a small chance for an M-Class flare..
Today news - heres another site http://sidc.oma.be/
An interplanetary shock wave was detected by ACE and SOHO/CELIAS at 06:45 UT today. The solar source of this shock is probably a CME first detected by LASCO C2 at 03:08 UT on March 30. The angular extent of the CME was around 110 degrees. It was accelerating to reach the speed of around 350 km/s in the LASCO C3 field of view. The CME originated from the eruption in the Catania sunspot group 56 (NOAA AR 1059) at S15E40 that was not associated with any reported flare. However, coronal dimmings and post-eruption loops were observed by SECCHI/EUVI onboard STEREO B starting from around 03:00 UT.
Due to the position of the erupting active region away from solar central meridian and non-halo appearance of the CME, we believe that the ICME itself will probably miss the Earth. The interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) magnitude reached 7 nT in the post-shock sheath.
Sunday we got the big 7.2 quake on the Mexico/California border with about 300+ smaller quakes.
Monday, the earth was bombarded with Solar Wind probably caused by two huge ejections from Coronal Holes on the sun. This graph shows that the burst arrived around 7:45AM and at around 13:45 it reached its peak speed of 785km/sec. It has since then been slowing, but nowhere in the normal 300-450km/sec registered since Jan 1, 2010.

We should be getting more Solar Wind in the next few days. I will try to keep posted updates since this interests me personally and may prove interesting for others as well.

GEOMAGNETIC STORM: A sharp gust of solar wind hit Earth's magnetosphere today, April 5th, at approximately 0800 UT and sparked the strongest geomagnetic storm of the year (Kindex=7). Although the storm is subsiding now, it is not over. High-latitude sky watchers should remain alert for auroras.

Hears a thought, it might be quiet cleansing to go back to a more rural life style.
Back to nature can't wait.

SUNGRAZING COMET: Today, the sun had a comet for breakfast. The icy visitor from the outer solar system appeared with no warning on April 9th and plunged into the sun during the early hours of April 10th. One comet went in, none came out. The Solar and Heliospheric Observatory (SOHO) had a good view of the encounter.
The comet was probably a member of the Kreutz sungrazer family. Named after a 19th century German astronomer who studied them in detail, Kreutz sungrazers are fragments from the breakup of a giant comet at least 2000 years ago. Several of these fragments pass by the sun and disintegrate every day. Most are too small to see but occasionally a big fragment like today's attracts attention.
This has been an active year for big, bright sungrazers. There was one on Jan. 4th, one on March 12th, and now one today. Normally we see no more than 3 or 4 bright ones in a whole year; now we're seeing them almost once a month. It could be a statistical fluctuation or, maybe, a swarm of Kreutz fragments is nearing perihelion (closest approach to the sun). Stay tuned for doomed comets!

Not sure if this has already been posted (from avalon 1 ) but it has to do with the sun. Great info here
