Curiosity curiosity (NASA Mars probe image anomaly)
I expect that those of us who like to pore over NASA photos looking for anomalies will be kept pretty busy for the next few years by the images arriving from Curiosity.
Below is a link to one of the first pics. I found it on the Discover Magazine site and it can be enlarged with a click. If you also have a built-in magnifier (highly recommended for general use) you can get in pretty close, as it's a high resolution image.
What captured my attention is an anomalous object at the co-ordinates [ 60, -25 ]
I've only spent a minute or so perusing it, but it sure looks like a mechanical fragment of some kind. There are straight "prongs" spreading out on the right hand side, one of which looks broken. The main part looks like it has a recess in the top to accept another part, complete with a round "fitment" hole on one end.
It sure don't look like no rock ta me!
Hunh. That didn't take long. Go Curiosity!
Please take a look and post your thoughts.

Well, below is the portion of your image that includes [60,25]. I'm not sure what you're referring to. I added pink marks to the image, to mark the [60] point and to put a rectangle around the region I figure you're referring to.http://thepythoniccow.us/NASA_Curiosity_Anomaly.png
(I'm going to add a few words to this threads title -- just the words "Curiosity curiosity" is kinda vague :).)
Re: Curiosity curiosity (NASA Mars probe image anomaly)
easier to doctor the individual frames that make up a mosaic picture for the panorama and not have the doctoring show up as so obvious in the final picture

Re: Curiosity curiosity (NASA Mars probe image anomaly)
I expect to see nothing of any significance regarding life ( as in intelligent ) -- past, present or future that would suggest 'we are not alone' on planet Mars or any other 'heavenly body'.
I believe the last NASA slip up, where they broadcast swarms of intelligent life forms investigating the runaway tether from the space shuttle mission STS-75 will have been the last recorded evidence we're likely to see by a government agency ( yeah, NASA is part of the gov. ).
For those of you ( I wouldn't think there'd be any ) that havent seen this before here it is...

For those that have it's worth another go.
If ever there was evidence of the fact that 'we are not alone' ( DUH! ) here it is.
Don't expect to see anything of the sort from 'Curiousity'.
Remember, "Curiousity killed the cat!" ;-)
Re: Curiosity curiosity (NASA Mars probe image anomaly)
@Hip Hipnotist Absolutely agree with you, both with regard the Curiosity mission (and others) and the Tether incident.
NASA are a joke. Super intellectuals compartmentalised into secretive regulatory corporatised zombies.
NASA are the Legoland of true science.
'tis a shame
Re: Curiosity curiosity (NASA Mars probe image anomaly)
The raw images are pretty interesting too: pity they can't be zoomed in on.

Dam, that structure in the background ground reminds me of a pyramid, anybody else?

Of course I remember curiosity killed the cat, the eccentric 80s band ;)
Friend of mine is a neighbour to the drummer.
This song seems appropriate
Straight back down
Come back down
Straight back down
Straight back down to earth
Re: Curiosity curiosity (NASA Mars probe image anomaly)
Because of this thread I was browsing the images related to the curiosity mission and I found the following image. Source | Image 89

Here's a screen capture of a close-up:

I have zoomed in on it 200X using a generic "zoom" add-on for Firefox.
Hope this helps.
