Re: Youtube strikes, bans and censorship, with links to backup and alternative sites
Dark Journalist also has two strikes against his YouTube account. (This was during his New Age Dark State series in summer 2017, after which Gaia TV filed complaints.)
He simply posted some of his more problematic videos on Vimeo.com instead, also embedding them on his website. He laughed about it, and really didn't seem too concerned.

This is very depressing.
Yes it is. Or, at least, it's a slap-round-the-face wake-up call (that in itself can sometimes be empowering and motivating) that this trend is now accelerating fast, and no-one in the alt media is 100% safe.
One of the problems is almost total lack of organization and co-ordination in the alt media, but that's no-one's fault. It's just really very hard, as there's no hierarchy or formal leadership of any kind: just a genuine, unorganized, very loose network, basically predicated on personal contacts between colleagues.
But imagine: if all the alt media journalists (and I count myself among them, certainly historically) ALL AT ONCE pulled their videos from YouTube and ALL AT ONCE went to [say] Vimeo, never to return.
That would be quite something.

Re: Youtube strikes, bans and censorship, with links to backup and alternative sites
Who controls Vimeo and the other sites ?
Vimeo always looks stark with no 'community' or search engine.
Google control the search results and rankings when people look for stuff, even if Vimeo videos show up, which they never do for me when I search.

Re: Youtube strikes, bans and censorship, with links to backup and alternative sites
Paul, how difficult would it be to have a way to scan youtube links all across this forum and count dead links ( due to closed accounts ) ?
If that is doable, we have a good resource here to plot this. It could be presented as a graph on a time line.

If you're looking for (e.g.) Alex Jones on Vimeo, search for ["Alex Jones" Vimeo] or [site:vimeo.com "Alex Jones"]. That works fine (and he's there, too). :thumbsup:

I'm going to add this to next week's intentions. We already have our three for tomorrow.
I CAN and WILL imagine this!
I have only a few videos on YouTube, but I would LOVE to join in the mass exodus. I just have to learn how to do it.
Imagine, indeed!

Sure enough, Jordan has had multiple warnings & bans from YouTube & Facebook since his recently deleted video. Details where he will be moving in the advent he's completely banned (likely!), and even Patreon could be under threat.

Re: Youtube strikes, bans and censorship, with links to backup and alternative sites
I think Bill's idea of pulling all alt media youtube accounts at once and going elsewhere is grand.
Maybe the account holders can start by emailing to one person and they then email another account holder with names listed and growing-so on and so forth until the exodus points are clearly decided and executed.
This idea of mass exodus excites me greatly- so often the control over truth is covered in manure. Let's make compost out of it and grow something substantial.

Re: Youtube strikes, bans and censorship, with links to backup and alternative sites
I was mulling over 'Why start banning things?' Invariably it leads to more interest as people are curious to see what was said, banning things tends to raise awareness not squash it.
This list on Wiki pertains to be the most viewed videos, we're talking billions of views. I didn't scan the entire list but it seems to be all music videos at a glance. Why concern yourself with videos getting 40,000 hits when the demographics clearly show most people simply aren't interested?
The media further promote the meme by printing stories about it everywhere.

YouTube drew ire among many this week for elevating a video in its Trending tab that sought to discredit a survivor of the shooting that last week left 17 people dead at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.
The Times reported:
Quote:
Links to the video proliferated on 4chan, where users have gleefully embraced the conspiracy theories and mocked the shooting victims. When it hit YouTube’s Trending page, some on 4chan celebrated: “TRENDING IN THE USA,” began one thread in the far-right politics board called /pol/. “WE’RE BREAKING THE CONDITIONING.”
The “mike m.” video also found traction on Twitter, on Facebook and in stories and comment threads on conspiracy sites. It rose in the circuitous and unexpected manner of a viral video, rather than one that had been calculated to game YouTube’s algorithms by seizing on interest in breaking news or tragedy—it had no catchy headline, no recognizable personality, no vast theorizing. And yet it blasted through YouTube’s safeguards and somehow kept going, exposing the platform as vulnerable to sudden influence from inside and outside its walls.
But note, without fail, the story is ridiculed as false, fake, disinformation in the first few lines - which is unfortunately as far as many people get and they (media) are in the business of first impressions and, at least attempting, to control perceptions.

Jason Goodman (Crowdsource the truth), talking to Charles Walton (whose YouTube channel has now been removed, as was David Seaman's), is recommending Periscope.

P.S. Paul here ... Jason Goodman talks to Charles Walton in the following video. They took down his Youtube channel that had active for 12 years, and had 4700 videos, 50,000 subscribers, and 47 million views, with no outstanding complaints or strikes.
Youtube terminated his channel, removed it, and denied his appeals, all within a few hours. Charles current best guess is that mentioning David Hogg (a student at the Florida school shooting) is risking being taken down from Youtube, without prior notice.

Re: Youtube strikes, bans and censorship, with links to backup and alternative sites
It's kind of unsurprising that certain sites are facing censorship or outright exclusion. I could see it coming a mile off and I am somewhat surprised it hasn't been happening a lot sooner.
In the United States "they" want your guns, so it seems perfectly logical that InfoWars has now received a strike from YouTube for daring to suggest that survivors of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School mass shooting in Parkland, Fla., were actors. It singled out student David Hogg, who has spoken out publicly after the shooting. The video was titled "David Hogg Can't Remember His Lines In TV Interview," and is no longer viewable on YouTube. It depicted Hogg and other students as "crisis actors" — a term used by conspiracy theorists who believe that mass shootings like Parkland are staged events to drum up support for gun control.
InfoWars owner Alex Jones made similar claims in the wake of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shootings in Newtown, Conn.
We are seeing more and more examples of videos getting thrown into YouTube jail, with YouTube using all kinds of corporate vocabulary that no one uses in real life.

Re: Youtube strikes, bans and censorship, with links to backup and alternative sites
Linda Kirby was recently posting on some of the suspicious events surrounding the recent Florida school shooting. She's now being blocked from Youtube. She had over 3 million views over the last 5 years of her Youtube videos.
Linda Kirby reports on problems she finds with our (US) government and with the news as we're told it by the mainstream media. She has just announced on Youtube with an entry that has just a title and description, but no video content, that: "I'VE LOST MY ABILITY TO UPLOAD VIDEOS, PLS READ DESCRIPTION FOR INFO".
She's now operating on bitchute: https://www.bitchute.com/channel/OsYxBxQUpJHs/

Zerohedge (a site that gets far more coverage than Avalon) reports on one of these Youtube video takedowns: Youtube Removing Video of Parkland Student Who Claimed There Was Second Shooter:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~by The_Real_Fly
We upload a lot of content to our Youtube channel, hardly any of it is conspiratorial. Most of it is main stream news clips, either politics or finance. After the Parkland shooting there was a young girl who went to the high school who claimed she definitely thought there was a second shooter. She even claimed to have talked to the killer on the morning of the killings, which I felt was both interesting and compelling.
It was uploaded to the channel and received a good amount of traffic, maybe 10-15k views. I don't remember the exact amount.
No big deal right?
Wrong, according to Youtube.
I just got an email from them this morning alerting me to the fact they removed the video from the platform and dinged my account with a "community strike", which isn't that big a deal -- as it only restricts my ability to live stream; but I think it's unfair and I am appealing their ruling because, as far as I can tell, she's a legit eyewitness of the events of the day and even if she was mistaken -- shouldn't her words be part of the public record?
There's more detail on this story at the above link.
Mike Adams, of NaturalNews.com, weighs in:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~SILENCE! Twitter, YouTube scrubbing all content and banning all users who question the official (false) narrative on the Florida school shooting
Sunday, February 25, 2018 by: Mike Adams
A few years from now, looking back on why Twitter collapsed and YouTube was abandoned by every intelligent person, we’ll remember what these totalitarian tech giants did in February, 2018. Starting a few days ago, both Twitter and YouTube began scrubbing all videos and tweets that don’t follow the “official narrative” on the Florida school shooting.
Anyone who questions the wisdom of the school students-turned-propagandists — who were all probably eating Tide pods a week ago — is immediately banned and silenced. Only one side of this “debate” is allowed to exist: The side that worships the lunatic Left’s demands that all law-abiding Americans surrender their self-defense firearms because a group of traumatized school kids were shot at by their own lunatic classmate.
The insanity, stupidity and derangement of all this is beyond description. YouTube, Google, Twitter and even Facebook have now decided to pick a political side and silence all opposing viewpoints. Online platforms that once hosted conversations and debates are now nothing more than lunatic liberal echo chambers of cognitive illiteracy combined with demanded obedience. That’s why I have now dubbed the delusional Left an “obedience cult.”
