Right in the middle of a quiet suburb is a place where children are separated from their parents, and forced to work full time for no pay, and live in squalid conditions. Those who’ve survived this place say they were brainwashed into believing they could not leave, and that they deserved the shocking treatment dished out. A young man who escaped the place with the help of his father, Shane Kelsey says “I lived in that garage for about a year and a half, maybe two years.” Shane is now 21-years-old. Until just over a year ago he had never used the internet, watched television or followed the media.
“You’re not allowed to read any books other than scientology books, you can’t read newspapers, no radio, no movies, nothing,” Shane said. Shane says he was held captive and groomed to see all of us on the outside as pathetic, useless and stupid. ”So I lived in a garage until that got flooded by a storm, and my mum got really pissed off and said ‘what the hell’ and so I got moved into a closet. It is a closet under the stairs – maybe two metres long and a metre wide,” Shane said.
The true Australian headquarters of the Church of Scientology are located in the Sydney suburb of Dundas. The RPF base – which stands for Rehabilitation Project Force – is where Scientologists are sent for punishment and training, for crimes that most of us would regard as trivial.

no surprise, scientology should be illegal.
Re: Church of Scientology Exposed: Child Labour Camp Exposed In Australia..!
I thought i heard Hubbard speak (on tape) about an actual slave planet called Arslycus .... Another search term there for slave-camp research... It was supposed to be a very miserable place which, apparently, people described in their (past life) sessions. Hubbard had collected sufficient evidence, according to the sound of his voice. I was lucky enough to hear 50 difficult to find audio lecture tapes of Hubbard's. It seemed to me that he expressed himself as the savior of all galaxies who was recruting all of us lost souls. He repeatedly used the term "space opera" which seemed to disrespect any possibility of sanity throughout all galactic life. I felt it all deserved more exploration as it was packaged together with so much empowering tech-- With promises like: "total cause over matter, energy, space, time, life and thought". That "billion year contract" seemed a little beyond exploration, though. ^__^

no surprise, scientology should be illegal.
I understand your outrage.
Admittedly, the Church of Scientology has morphed from an applied religious philosophy for the betterment of the individual and of mankind... to a toxic and criminal cult, invested primarily in the acquisition of real estate, in the defrauding of its parishioners and in the abuse of its staff. One could argue that L. Ron Hubbard planted the seeds of this insanity deep within the Scientology teachings. But that is a complex discussion that goes beyond the scope of this thread.
But who, according to you, would have the moral authority to declare Scientology illegal?
The Australian government? Other governments of the world?
The World Federation of Mental Health?
Leaders of other organized religions, such as the Pope of the Catholic Church, perhaps?
I am afraid the hands of these corrupt institutions and entities are also dirty, and most likely much dirtier than those of the Church of Scientology (although it is my belief that the psychopathic leader of the Church of Scientology for the past quarter of a century - David Miscavige - will eventually be globally recognized as the vicious tyrant that he is).
In parallel to the scandalous case of abuse brought to our attention by the Australian reporter, above, just think of what came to be known as the Forgotten Australians (http://www.forgottenaustralians.org.au) — the more than 500,000 non-indigenous, child migrants and indigenous children who experienced care in institutions or outside a home setting during the 20th century and many of whom were abused physically, emotionally, or sexually while in care.
And what about the group known as the Home Children? (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Home_Children) 100,000 children who became the victims of a child migration scheme that was started in 1869 in the United Kingdom by an evangelical Quaker and "philanthropist" and that was carried until the 1970's — 100,000 children sent as labor (slaves) to Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and South Africa, with the blessings of the government and the Church.
So should those who promote and engage in humanitarian wars, or those who make exorbitant profits from mind-numbing drugs or those who preach charity and virtue from their golden pulpits... be the ones to declare Scientology illegal?
Of course not.
Now, before I comment further, there is an incorrect assertion in the report that I feel is important to point out.
It states:
Quote:
"The RPF base – which stands for Rehabilitation Project Force – is where Scientologists are sent for punishment and training, for crimes that most of us would regard as trivial."
That is as ridiculous as saying that Catholics who have sinned are sentenced to solitary confinement in the Vatican caves. Everybody knows that the vast majority of Christians are not ordained and that, within the clergy, very few are bishops and under the direct authority of the Vatican. Likewise, the vast majority of Scientologists would not and could not be sentenced to the RPF. That program exists only for Sea Org members, those very dedicated staff members who have signed a billion-year contract with the Church and who represent a small percentage of the Scientology community.
On paper, the RPF is not meant to be used as punishment. But there is ample evidence that it has been used and continues to be used as such. (Moreover, I am talking from personal first-hand experience, here. ;) )
That being said, indiscriminate intolerance towards any group will not solve the very serious problems of abuse and malpractice that have plagued most religions and other institutions of the world, noble and otherwise, throughout history.
Nor will they be solved by the blanket rejection or condemnation of an entire body of knowledge.
Discernment, wisdom, integrity and courage, on a personal level, are our best weapons against corruption and abuse.
If not, let us go all the way and declare all philosophies and all human institutions and endeavors... illegal.

.
In addition to the report presented in the original post, I invite interested truth seekers to read the very well researched and written open letter that was published yesterday by Tony Ortega, editor in chief of The Village Voice:
A few excerpts that are pertinent to this discussion:
Quote:
As Debbie testified in court last week, Scientology's leader, David Miscavige -- best man at your last wedding, Tom -- needed her not only to keep running Flag, but also to take care of pressing matters at Int Base, in England, and in Spain. Running a 1,000-person operation in Florida while she was off taking care of other church emergencies was so stressful, she testified, she had time to eat only every other day, and to grab sleep only every other day as well.
I know, it's hard to believe, but then you probably already know that members of the Sea Org are a group of people accustomed to nearly inhuman deprivations. I mean, by this time, some 23 years after you first joined the church, Tom, you've been around Sea Org members and know that they work up to 100 hours a week, grabbing only three or four hours of sleep a night, with never a day off, or time to see their families. These are dedicated folks -- so dedicated, they join the Sea Org at a young age and sign contracts promising to work for Scientology for the next billion years. We wrote earlier about how some Sea Org members, making only about $50 dollars a week, helped customize a motorcycle for you, transformed an SUV, and also tricked out an airplane hangar that you own.
Debbie Cook was another of those exhausted, sleep-deprived, and very poorly paid workers who gave their all, year in and year out. But now, at Int Base in California, she found herself doing things that called for something else besides stamina: She was made to take part in a bizarre prison project.

Apparently Mr. Miscavige has a flair for the dramatic.
The two gentlemen escorted Debbie to the same office trailers that Rinder had described. For the next seven weeks, it would be her home. In court, she gave a pretty vivid description of her time there, Tom. Like Rinder, she mentioned that there was nowhere to sleep but on the ground. She remembered also that there was an infestation of ants, and in a bid to punish these fallen executives even further, she testified, Miscavige had the air conditioning turned off as desert temperatures climbed past 100 degrees.
But the physical environment wasn't the only thing that made The Hole a living hell, Tom. Debbie testified that there was psychological terror too, in the form of mass confessions that the residents of The Hole had to take part in. Debbie testified to one case of forced confessions that we had written about earlier, and which brings up Scientology's troubling history as an organization infused with homophobia.
Debbie confirmed what we'd heard earlier, that Miscavige wanted two male executives, Marc Yager and Guillaume Lesevre, to confess to the rest of the 100 or so prisoners that they were having a homosexual relationship. The two were beaten until they said as much, but then Debbie spoke up when this was reported to Miscavige, saying that actually what they had admitted to was being exaggerated so Miscavige would hear what he wanted.
For speaking up on behalf of the two terrorized men, Debbie herself was then subjected to a sick ritual of abuse. She was made to stand in a trash can for the next twelve hours as the other prisoners were made to shout slurs at her, dump cold water over her, and also taunted her with more homophobic hazing, calling her a lesbian.
And Debbie saw worse. One executive, Mark Ginge Nelson, she saw beaten and then made to lick a bathroom floor for a half hour.

Quote:
A labor camp for children, in a Sydney suburb? Tom, can you see how disastrous this is for Scientology? And it's disastrous because, of course, it isn't really new information at all. Years ago, David Miscavige's own niece, Jenna Miscavige Hill, told Nightline that she'd been through similar treatment and that other children were subject to hard labor and confinement. Meanwhile, here at the Voice we've been reporting other cases of outrageous conduct carried out under instructions by Miscavige.
There was Valeska Paris, for example, a young woman who says Miscavige wanted to keep her away from her own mother, who was suing the church. So the young Sea Org member, only 18, was put aboard Scientology's private cruise ship, the Freewinds, against her will from 1996 to 2007. (Remember the Freewinds, Tom? That's where Miscavige threw that swell birthday party for you in 2004, and in 2005 you had that secret Scientology wedding ceremony with Katie.) We also talked to Ramana Dienes-Browning, a woman who was put under incredible pressure to sign the Sea Org's billion-year contract when she was only 15, was married on the Freewinds at only 16, and then says she was humiliated by Sea Org executives when they interrogated her husband and found that he'd been masturbating because their sex life was unsatisfying.
Yes, my friends, that is sickening.
Such abuse of power, such degradation and such travesty of ethics, under the cloak of religion, cannot be justified under any circumstance.
Re: Church of Scientology Exposed: Child Labour Camp Exposed In Australia..!
Hey Jackovesk,
I will put you a little bit on the spot, here.
You have remained silent on this thread of yours and have let it become inactive, right after my two contributions — posts # 8 & 9.
You did not reply, nor even gave a tiny acknowledgement — zilch. :(
You have, since then, been active elsewhere on the forum and have even started another thread, so this tells me that you are still with us on this planet.
Assuming that you have read my posts, I will now ask you a few questions, but do not answer them over here if you think that the answers would only serve to derail the thread.
What is it about my posts that prompted you to ignore them and to no longer engage in the discussion?
Is my Frenglish hard to understand? Are some personalities unwelcome? Are some viewpoints heretical?
You are a respected and very prolific poster on the Forum, but because of your unexplained "disappearance" in this thread of yours, I am unfortunately left with the impression that you may have created the thread only for its shock value and for its potential to further discredit Scientology in an ad-hominem fashion.
Please tell me that that is not the case. You are aware, aren't you? that Bill Ryan has been studying and practicing several aspects of Scientology for many years (although he never laid foot in a church of Scientology)...
As you will have noticed, I very rarely express my views on the forum. I only do when I believe that I can add something of substance to the discussion. But I often choose to remain silent anyway, simply because writing is not an easy task for me.
I decided to participate in this thread for two reasons:- I have personal experience with the subject at hand, as I spent many months in the RPF (Rehabilitation Project Force) at the International Headquarters of the Church of Scientology, in 1985. Sometime in 1984, I was even physically assaulted in my office by the current leader of the Church - David Miscavige.
- I found the short remark in post # 2 (that you thanked), somewhat prejudicial or, at the very least, unbecomingly flippant.
I am not a Scientologist, but seeing in that short remark the embryo of a beast — bigotry — I decided to offer a perspective that I consider more informed and balanced.
But this is not a popular subject and so I do not expect the discussion to carry on.
Eloquence not being my forte, perhaps I should thank you for your silence and take it as an act of kindness.
Project Avalon does work in very mysterious ways...
:)

Thanks Paul,
I agree.
I should not have voiced that impression of mine. Or I should at least have worded it in a way that was not provocative or accusatory. Better yet, I should have sent it as a PM, as it was off-topic.
Returning now to my path of silence...
Re: Church of Scientology Exposed: Child Labour Camp Exposed In Australia..!
The scientology symbols look masonic and they break the law to suit themselves and get away with it. Down with scientology !
