U R dah best VS.
Not sure how you did it (been trying for awhile now) but using a "reply with quote" I can copy the IMG file (rather than trying to upload a GIF file) and that works.
Now if only my feeble memory can remember this time where last I put it :haha:

Bwahaha sometimes the physical remains of fun have a burning sensation indeed, didnt see that one coming, when i read your response.
Some client told me in case of crabs, tackle them with a pube, they will trip, land on their back and bite your underpants, i nearly sh@t myself when he told me that one. had a talk with his lawyer an hour later, we ( me, client and lawyer) could not keep a straight face so we made another appointment to discuss things further the next week. This was just so wrong and funny, sometimes lawyers are people too.

Maybe it's my different perspective, so a collective reality check is in order. I remember a time when punishment seemed like a reasonable response to certain actions, but no more. Now, I find punishment an emotionally retarded response of revenge couched in vague meanings of justice. Like two children playing and one accidently, or intentionally, hurts the other and the response is to hit the offender.
My son recently used my paypal account without my permission. Twice. The charges were small and I would have let him do it if he had asked me first. I wish to teach him common courtesy. In each case he emailed me and informed me of the purchases and told me he would pay me back, something I was not even remotely interested in. After the first offense, I told him it was unacceptable behavior and he must learn to control his impulsiveness as it is no excuse for bad manners. After the second offense I changed my password so that he could no longer avail himself of the privilege he was afforded. I did not do this to punish him. I did it to prevent him from a behavior that was becoming a pattern. He had been completely respectful for months, but after the first 'try' at something and not experiencing any real downside, he carelessly allowed his impulse to guide him again.
So, he has now 'suffered' the consequences of his behavior and has not said a word about it since. He knows it was wrong, but I did not bash his self worth with punishment. I simply let him know that I had to protect myself from his impulses and he needs to learn to control himself. At some point I may change my password back and give him access again. He hasn't needed it. All his purchases are games and upgrade related. I still give him his allowance through his mother to insure he does what is expected of him in the house.
What are others thoughts on punishment here?
Correctly done with your son, based on mutual respect and expecting honesty from eachother, the only way to go imho.
Punishment is a strange term i think, imo its better to call it a appropiate response as a consequence of the wrong( knowing or unknowing)action taken. It its like every other thing in life i guess, it depends on the reason, circumstances, nessecety( spelling booboo here) person, means and intellectual capabillities and emotional skills and maturity of the person involved in the please dont do that again or else talk.
So thats a lot of things to take into account as far as i am concerned, a lot also depends on the seriousness of the non apriciated offense of course.
There is no one anwser to the question imo, but a very good question indeed.

Once upon a time they were people and they know how to wear the mask. I have a friend who is a lawyer, I think he's my friend.

Sorry for the angry outburst i had just now villagers, i did not mean to spoil everybodys good times, but i had to vent this.
No need to be sorry at the venting 6POTB. I thought about relaying a similar personal story of how callous greedy businesses can be with the bereaved simply because they can and they don't care. Perhaps, I will tell that story at a later time. Hearing your circumstances did not bother me. In fact, it helped me to clear away more of my mists of sorrow.
Well, in that case, thanks for your kind comforting words and glad to have been of a sort of service to you.
We are all related by bellybuttons.

The sound of one hand spanking is far easier to hear. As Robert Palmer sang with Power Station, "Some Like It Hot". Ooh baby!

I always considered it my job as a parent to teach my children. Punishment teaches how to strike back, and creates fear and anger rather than respect imo...not my idea of how to raise well-balanced, thoughtful children. Your response was appropriate to the offense...teaching much more than 'don't do that again'.
You're a good Dad, modwiz.
Re: Here and Now...What's Happening?
I would agree substantially to your thoughts on punishment, however, I might keep it in reserve for when it comes time to deal effectively with the psychopaths that plague our societies. Of course, when one takes a medicine to get rid of parasites, one does not think of it as 'punishing' the parasites.

Dealing with parasites is 'hygiene'. People who choose to pursue parasitic paths will encounter consequences. It is not punishment, it is blowback. Like gas building up and something you do causes a spark that creates a blast that renders you into chicken food. The gas is not punishing you, it is just a consequence of the circumstance.

Re: Here and Now...What's Happening?
on punishment...I looked up the definition of "sanction":
1. Authoritative permission or approval that makes a course of action valid. See Synonyms at permission.
2. Support or encouragement, as from public opinion or established custom.
3. A consideration, influence, or principle that dictates an ethical choice.
4.
a. A law or decree.
b. The penalty for noncompliance specified in a law or decree.
5. A penalty, specified or in the form of moral pressure, that acts to ensure compliance or conformity.
6. A coercive measure adopted usually by several nations acting together against a nation violating international law.

Almost smells like spring here today.
Still chilly (4°C), but sun warms nicely.
The blackbirds seem more energetic again.
