Default Finding the Perfect Spot to Build an Underground Colony on the Moon

As if they have not already !

    Anyway:

"For years, scientists have wondered if dark, crater-like features on the lunar surface might be entrances to giant caverns carved long ago by flowing lava. Researchers from Japan and the United States have uncovered new evidence to prove that these features actually exist—which is good news for future lunar colonists looking for a convenient and safe place to live."

So it did ring like a bell!

And have the researchers uncovered evidence that these caverns are vacant

Good point, Bluegreen! An "admission" probably means we are already there & they are just breaking in the public!(If what I have learned about here on Avalon is true about the bases on the Moon & Mars!)

For the moon to ring like a bell there needs to be much more than some caverns that are hollow. As I remember, the Apollo missions that recorded the reverberation on the moon were far away from any caverns. One such reverberation lasted over 3 hours!

Tell me why all the previous moon missions missed this? Were They too busy lookin for cheese to avoid landing in the giant hole?

Here's an interesting vid from Forum Borealis where Richard Hoagland is talking about Mars and the Moon.

There are some very interesting visuals included in this vid:

Hoagland joins the forum to account for indisputable facts regarding NASA. Some topics dealt with in part 1: What's Torsion physics & what's the significance of 19,5? Why was NASA founded? Is NASA really military behind its civilian facade? What did Brookings advice regarding extra-terrestrial discoveries? Was JFK & Khrushchev removed due to their then covert plan to cooperate in space & reveal what the Deep State had found? What are they hiding on the moon? Could the Black Knight satellite be a remnant of Antediluvian technology? Did our ancestors colonize the solar system? Did humans live on Mars? + update on his new book...

Humans tend to require enough air pressure at 10k ft in the air, that they have to begin pressuring cabins at this air height (when in planes)

This equates to about 10psi (10lbs per sq inch) of surface area in such a cavern. As a stable minimum, for continual human habitation.

That is a massive difference between hard space vacuum and some sort of pressure, as in the required 10psi. Such a cavern would have to be prepared extensively in order for it to work. Considerable assessment and stability work would be required.

IF it is very long and not so high, then it can be done in sections. (I did not read anything about this cavern, so this mentioned point may be redundant)

Not only is it high pressure but it is also a huge quantity/mass of air.

For example, the ISS (Space Station) is run at 1 atmosphere pressure, which is about 14.7psi.

The thing is a high pressure charged can. Probably rings like a bell, like tapping a brand new spray can of paint.

What I'm saying, is that the 10psi is a minimum, and it probably needs to be higher.

At a full atmosphere of pressure, the ISS 'space station' is dealing with 10,100kilos of force in the inside surface area, per square meter of internal surface area.

Now you know why the explosions in space when a hatch blows are so spectacular, in the movies. Because it very much is -potent and violent. For the first time ever, the movies are probably underplaying the force of the thing, when they portray it.

That's what the cavern walls and ceiling/roof will have to deal with, a force they've never had to see or know in many many millions of years. Probably more than gravity has ever exerted on them.

So it is, at the very least, a very large shell making project. Not to keep anything out, or support the cavern roof/ceiling...no, not at all.. the opposite, in fact ..it's to stop internal force from being applied to the cavern itself, in some degree or another.
