    okay will read them

i do like to argue for the other side especially if the idea is provocative.
    Yes. But be selective.

There are plenty of things to be provocative about which contain real merit, and which are enormously important in our time. This is not one of those.

New launch date planned for 3rd February.

This one will be a vertical rather than horizontal launch, which Hughes believes will prevent him from crossing over into public property and thus getting in trouble with the government.

    Oh dear ..

A live stream from Noize TV captured 11 painstaking minutes of the homemade rocket sitting on the pad on Saturday before... not going anywhere.

Hughes explains the different ways he attempted to get the rocket to launch, which he says failed because he could not get combustion due to an improperly functioning actuator. Or possibly plunger.

Lunch now is planned for Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

Here's a good interview with "Mad Mike" - seems quite a nice guy and worth a listen.

‘Like Falcon Space launch’: Flat-Earther finally blasts off into California sky (VIDEO)

Flat-Earth theorist and self-taught rocket scientist ‘Mad’ Mike Hughes has catapulted himself half a mile into the air aboard a homemade rocket in Californian desert town.

The 61-year-old limo-driver-turned-rocket-scientist launched his steam-powered rocket and reached an altitude of 1,875 feet (572m) near Amboy, California on Saturday. The event was previously delayed due variously to technical problems and/or lack of permission.

“This is like the Falcon Space launch,” Hughes’ team member Jim told Noize TV before Hughes was loaded into the steam-powered rocket. “Don’t let him land on you.”

The landing was hard, as it sheared off the nose cone of the rocket and the man’s back was aching after the flight, according to AP.

“I’m tired of people saying I chickened out and didn’t build a rocket. I’m tired of that stuff. I manned up and did it,” Hughes said.

It is the Flat-Earth theorist’s second attempt to launch a rocket. In 2014, he traveled 1,374 feet aboard his first manned vehicle and suffered injuries from the flight.

It is unclear if the second attempt was enough to debunk the round-world concept. To prove that the Earth is actually flat the man is to build a “Rockoon” rocket that uses a gas-filled balloon to get to the upper atmosphere. The vehicle is to take him some 68 miles up. This may not happen for some time yet, as Hughes is going to run for governor of California.

Well ... I can't say I'm terribly surprised. At least he went out with a "bang", doing what he loved.

    Yes- not surprised really.
But as you say he did what he wanted to do and went out as he himself probably expected.
I think he chanced his luck on more than one occasion - just a pity to see a life lost on such a futile project. He may as well sat atop a giant soda bottle with half a ton of mentors.
But I admire his albeit misplaced sense of adventure in my eyes.

it kinda reminds me of that guy who went as a christian missionary to that small island to convert the Sentinelese and got filled up with arrows.

i imagine they were both greeted in the afterlife by a giant floating facepalm emoji.

If you look at the speed this thing took off, I'm feeling he passed out from the G forces.
May have recovered on the downfall, or if really lucky was still drowsy and so maybe did not have time to realize what was happening?
Whatever the case, seeing how stubborn and determined he was to do this, it's probably how his soul decided it should be .
