They have the large concrete blocks in place in queen st mall in Brisbane. This only covers 3 main entrances to the mall, with the 4th having no blocks as it's the main delivery rout for courier trucks dropping off supplies to stores within the mall.

There are plenty of other areas, namely all the streets within an 8 block radius around queen st mall that are just as congested people wise have no protection whatsoever outside of on street parking generally limited to one side of the road where the parked cars would act as a barrier.

I don't understand why they're doing this. They've already disarmed us. What other laws and restrictions do they want to put in place that require attacks like this as justification??
Being at war on home soil generates enough fear for the populace to welcome moves like this; Malcolm Turnbull to announce overhaul of Defence call out powers, beefed-up police forces (July, 2017).

Quote VICTORIAN police will get elite SAS training as part of a major overhaul of defence deployment rules that will make it easier for Australian soldiers to act on home soil.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull will today announce sweeping changes to defence “call-out” powers following a high-level review commissioned after overseas terrorist attacks and the Lindt cafe siege.

Under the reforms, state police forces will be able to embed military personnel in their ranks, and police tactical response teams will get special forces training to bring them up to the level of the military when dealing with major incidents.

And the long-awaited changes will make it easier for the Australian Defence Force to take charge of counter-terrorism operations when state governments request it.

The military will be able to respond to complex terrorism attacks, getting new powers to support a police response such as by preventing people leaving the scene of an incident.

Call-out powers were put under the spotlight during the controversy over how NSW Police responded to the Lindt Cafe hostage siege.

The move to boost state police forces’ capacity to neutralise terrorists recognises that Australia’s two military tactical assault groups, based in Sydney and Perth, would take several hours to arrive at an incident in, for example, Melbourne.

“State and territory police forces remain the best first response to terrorist incidents, immediately after an attack starts,” Mr Turnbull said.

“But Defence can offer more support to states and territories to enhance their capabilities and increase their understanding of Defence’s unique capabilities, to ensure a comprehensive response to potential terrorist attacks.

“The overhaul will make it easier for Defence to work together with federal, state and territory police in the event of a terrorist incident.”

Mr Turnbull will announce the overhaul today at Sydney’s Holsworthy Barracks. The barracks is the home of the 2nd Commando Regiment, which deals with domestic counter-terrorism operations.

The changes will be made in partnership with states and territories, depending on their security needs.

Liberal MP and former SAS commander Andrew Hastie has been among those who argued for the call out powers to be modernised.

States and territories are currently unable to ask for military help until their capacity to respond to incidents has been exhausted.

The PM said the review of the Defence Force’s role in domestic counter-terrorism operations, the first since 2005, recognised the “changing nature of the threat as demonstrated in recent terrorist attacks around the world”.

“It is essential that Australia evolves its responses and counter-measures in response to the changing threat. Defence must be able to contribute effectively to domestic counter-terrorism efforts.”

As a sidenote, from previous post, note; "Mr Turnbull will announce the overhaul today at Sydney’s Holsworthy Barracks. The barracks is the home of the 2nd Commando Regiment, which deals with domestic counter-terrorism operations".

See HERE for what Fiona Barnett shared about Holsworthy when she spoke out about the programming she endured (warning - disturbing).

i rekon they've use up the " imports , achieved thier purpose manufacturing consent for greater police powers, surveilance legislation, shoot to kill orders and now police with automatic weapons , could also have something to do with the draining of the swamp going global and all those clinton foundation donations from australian politicians , THAT would explain SO much
