Default A political compass: where are you situated

A very fun test that shows were you are situated on an international political compass. You can compare yourself to Gandhi, Hitler, Staline, Friedman and others.

    the test site: https://www.politicalcompass.org/

The scale is based on left-right essentially for defining economics, government driven versus completely deregulated markets, not for defining social positions. Then the social dimension is defined as authoritarian versus libertarian. In the video you will see parties, countries, individuals located on the compass map.

    Have fun and discuss.

Oh, by the way, I am a libertarian left, but not extreme in either (a bit like Gandhi when you see his location on the map with dots - not the video).

Years ago I did this test and I was left leaning. Now I'm libertarian left too. Canada is a socialist democracy like Finland is.

I don't like to identify with any political sides though. I'm just a person with genuine compassionate humanitarian values.

I didn’t like how some questions were worded and I would have answered differently on several questions had there been better choices but it still found me as Libertarian, which I am. Showed me a couple points to the right of Gandhi. Lol

I agree with your comments however, it does not stop the test to be worthwhile in describing quite accurately how we are regarding politics. I should add that the French translation is not entirely accurate either. WEll, this is non paid work right...

What I like is the description of the scales, from complete economy control to complete free markets on one hand, to describe right and left, unrelated to social phenomea, while the social tendencies are on the authoritarian (organised) versus libertarian (anarchy) scales. I do think this way of analysing the political spectrum is more accurate than the usual ways.

I agree. I too had problems answering some of the questions with the way they were worded and the choices provided. I'm not sure what fifth choice would've been appropriate though—perhaps “neither agree or disagree” or “none of the above.” I must say I was a bit surprised though with where I fell on their socio-economic graph. While I can buy the Libertarian part, I disagree with the Collectivist part—perhaps that stemmed from those questions I had difficulty in answering. I am a strong believer in individual rights and freedoms and minimal government and controls.
