Default Netanyahu - police find 'sufficient evidence' to indict

There is "sufficient evidence" to indict Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on criminal charges in two corruption cases according to Israeli police. (investigations have been ongoing since 2017)

    ref: https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/13/middl...ahu/index.html

According to a police report published late Tuesday, authorities found evidence of "accepting bribes, fraud, and breach of trust."

Police stopped short of recommending that charges be brought against Netanyahu. That decision rests with the attorney general.

In a televised statement Tuesday, Netanyahu said that the allegations against him would come to nothing.

Netanyahu is a suspect in two separate criminal investigations, known as Case 1000 and Case 2000. The cases involve allegations of receiving bribes, fraud, and breach of trust, according to police.

Quote In Case 1000, Netanyahu is suspected of having received gifts from businessmen overseas, including cigars for himself.
The case has focused primarily on Netanyahu's relationship with Israeli billionaire and Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan, though the investigation has expanded to include other wealthy businessmen with ties to Netanyahu. Milchan has denied any wrongdoing.

In Case 2000, police have investigated conversations Netanyahu had with Arnon "Noni" Mozes, the owner of one of Israel's leading newspapers, Yedioth Ahronoth, which is regularly critical of the Prime Minister.

In the conversations, transcripts of which have been leaked in the Israeli media, Netanyahu allegedly discusses limiting the circulation of Yedioth Ahronoth's major competitor -- the Sheldon Adelson-owned Israel Hayom, a right-wing newspaper seen as favoring Netanyahu -- in exchange for more favorable coverage.

Both Netanyahu and Mozes have said these were not serious discussions; rather, they each claim they were trying to expose the other's lack of trustworthiness.

Netanyahu has repeatedly proclaimed his innocence, insisting that investigators will find he did nothing wrong.
He keeps saying "Nothing there, nothing at all there"... like nothing happened, nothing at all happened.. which is a programmed statement the abductee's (or those programmed) will utter when pressed..

    Read what´s it about:
Benjamin Netanyahu faces troubled weeks: After a good one-year investigation, Israel's police have recommended corruption charges against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, according to media reports.
Sufficient evidence of corruption and infidelity had been collected in two cases, Israeli media reported on Tuesday evening, citing the police. The police have sent these conclusions to Netanyahu.
The prime minister described the allegations as "absurd". "I'm sure the truth will come to light," Netanyahu said. Netanyahu said he hopes for victory in the next elections in Israel. "I feel the deep commitment to continue Israel," said the head of government. He is only interested in the welfare of the country.
A final decision on an indictment must be made by the prosecutor. Netanyahu has repeatedly claimed his innocence. Familiarists have stressed that the conservative head of government will not resign even in the case of an indictment.
It's about cigars, champagne and bad press
The head of government has been under pressure for a long time because of the corruption investigations. According to media reports the friendly Israeli Hollywood producer Arnon Milchan is said to have delivered to the head of government and his wife Sara cigars and champagne worth several hundred thousand shekels (four shekels equals one euro) for years. It was therefore illegal donations. In return, Netanyahu should have helped Milchan, for example, to obtain a new US visa.
In addition, Netanyahu is said to have tried to improperly influence the media coverage. He is said to have made an effort to secure in a deal with a media mogul a more positive reporting in the government-critical newspaper "Jediot Achronot". The police also recommend indicting Milchan and the newspaper publisher, Israeli television reported.
