Default M2 Movement --- witch hunt dynamics.

The M2 movement originally gave voice to those in the entertainment industry who had been sexually coerced and intimidated by powerful figures, like Harvey Weinstein many years ago. I'm not sure where that particular situation is going currently but I didn't mind seeing a powerful figure condemned in the court of public opinion. Rose McGowan jad many people back her story with stories of their own. So fine.

What bothers me is a bad date with a pushy guy, who has no real power over the accuser, being held up to scorn and fired from his job, in a weird act of solidarity with the M2 movement, a decade after the fact.

In Canada we have a politician who had to step down from his job because two anonymous accusers said he was pushy when he dated them over a decade ago.

The accusers also stated that they were "plied with alcohol" by the guy, while underage. Turns out they now admit they were of age to drink and were drinking in a public place.

The women's lawyer says their age doesn't matter! It totally matters!

Anyway, I think I have most of the story straight. I have grown weary of a movement that defines women as "pure unsullied examples of truth incarnate" and men as evil-doers, always in a position to over power damsels in distress.

And again this movement clearly overlooks the shadow of the new Puritanism. Surely some of the kids of the easily offended are getting most of their sex education from violent online porn. It is very common. There is WAY more potential for terrible spiritual, emotional and unambiguous physical violence there than from a date with a guy who is non violent but just kind of a pig.
