Here's my, what some people may consider overly simplistic view on this: Because large corporations such as Microsoft want globalization and reap huge rewards from globalization, they should not be permitted to globalize, and then claim that something they "parked" in another country, for their convenience and profit, is not subject to legal processes occurring in another country, here the USA, especially when such country is their country of origin.

In short, setting aside the important question of what was "parked", as in this case that implicates privacy rights etc..., no supra-national corporation should be able to avoid providing discoverable information to persons and agencies entitled to it by the expedient of having an office, files or servers etc... in another country.

But, to the extent the information that is being sought is private, confidential, and privileged from disclosure, etc..., I oppose it being produced. But the basis of the opposition is not the procedure being used to get it, but the right of people to have a reasonable expectation of privacy in their personal affairs, that is free from any procedure being used to get it. 1st and 14th amendment and the like.

Add: I am among Lionel's fans. He's sharp as a tack. He puts me in mind of George Carlin sometimes.

But then, who gets the last word on what is a "reasonable expectation of privacy" ... the corporation that holds the data, or the government that's asking for the data?

If it's the corporation, then Microsoft can still withhold the data, just using a different justification.

If it's any government, whatever government that's asking, then whichever government has the lowest standards of privacy gets to ask for, and expect to receive, the most stuff.

If it's only some government that holds jurisdiction over the individual whose data is sought, then at least in theory (but usually not easily in practice) any given individual could choose to live in an area where the government sufficiently, in their view, respected their privacy.

But either way if it's this, that, or some other government(s), then websites that collect confidential data (for example, as an administrator of ProjectAvalon.net, I can see the email address and IP address history of every member) about visitors or members could face having to comply with the expectations and requests of any government, local, national, or supra-national, on this planet. That could potentially be a burden that the ProjectAvalon.net administrative staff could not competently bear.

P.S. ... Perhaps best, and perhaps what you had in mind, Satori, is that each website corporate or organization gets to state, a priori and publicly, which government(s) it accepts as having jurisdiction over its operations.

Then, continuing this line of reasoning a bit further, perhaps you're suggesting, Satori, that any given corporation or organization should be constrained (again, by whom?) from playing shell games with its data ... moving the data itself around, or moving the declaration of responsible jurisdiction around, to suit its purposes, ad libitum.

The attack is still ongoing. Our team is now manning defensive stations on 24 hour shift to mitigate the attack's effects until it stops. I've seen a lot of DDOS attacks before, but this one was different from the others.

If you are a netsec guy, the attack is essentially a fuzz attempt on our posting systems. Someone is looking for a vulnerability in 8chan. Usually fuzz attempts are slow and come in at a trickle to avoid detection. Today's attack strangely was a fuzz attempt in huge numbers and very rapid almost like a tsunami. I've never heard of a fuzz attack on a public service in such huge numbers. It just means that whoever is attacking is either desperate, or a child who doesn't know better. Children dont usually have access to hundreds of thousands of botnet computers though.

We will continue holding down the fort and maintaining defensive positions to respond to any changes in the attacker's patterns. If the attack manages to take the site down again, please know that we have a team of about half a dozen people working tirelessly to get everything back online so everybody can continue posting.

YouTube Goes On Rampage Against Conservative Accounts; Blames "Newer Members" Of Mod Team

YouTube has blamed "newer members" of it's 10,000 person fleet of content moderators for a virtual bloodbath of video takedowns, strikes, and account restrictions taking place across a large cross-section of conservative channels.

The Google division announced the new moderators in December, tasked with spotting said fake news, along with misleading or extreme content in the wake of a raging debate over the effect of propaganda and inaccurate reporting after Hillary Clinton's 2016 election loss.

Google essentially responded to the crackdown on conservatives with "our bad," after news of the mass censorship began to spread.

"As we work to hire rapidly and ramp up our policy enforcement teams throughout 2018, newer members may misapply some of our policies resulting in mistaken removals," wrote a YouTube spokesman in an email. "We’re continuing to enforce our existing policies regarding harmful and dangerous content, they have not changed. We’ll reinstate any videos that were removed in error."

Some of the banned accounts include:

Anti-School, Bombard's Body Language, Charlton, Charles Walton, Defango, Dustin Nemos, David Seaman, Destroying The Illusion, Ron Johnson, Richie Allen, and Titus Frost.

Those who were issued strikes, partial bans, or temporary suspensions include According to Joe, Blackstone Intelligence, BakedAlaska, InfoWars, Jerome Corsi, Military Arms Channel, and MrLTavern, among many others. -The Outline

Over the last week, The Alex Jones channel was issued two strikes - however the second one was mysteriously removed hours later, maybe due to on overzealous "newer member" who disagreed with Infowars' politics.

And last August, politically incorrect University of Toronto professor Jordan B. Peterson found himself locked out of his YouTube account with no explanation before regaining access.

Considering that there probably aren't a ton of red MAGA hats proudly displayed on top of cubicle cabinets in YouTube's San Bruno, CA headquarters or wherever their moderators decide the fate of content producers, it stands to reason that their fleet of eager new morality police - perhaps some of them having emitted primal screams upon Hillary's loss, simply went on a rampage against mean words and scary guns.

Meanwhile, the Daily Caller reveals that Google has also enlisted the left-wing nonprofit Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) to participate in its "trusted flaggers" program. The SPLC notoriously branded African American presidential candidate and neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson as an "extremist," while gaining a reputation for finding creative ways to label conservatives as "hate groups" in general.

The Washington Examiner’s Emily Jashinsky noted last year that “the SPLC’s claim to objectivity is nothing less than fraudulent, a reality that informed observers of its practices from both the Left and Right accept.”

“The routine of debunking their supposedly objective classifications occurs like clockwork each time a major outlet makes the mistake of turning to them when reporting on the many conservative thinkers and nonprofits the group absurdly designates as hateful.” -DC

YouTube says the trusted flaggers are equipped with digital tools which allow for the mass flagging of content for review by YouTube personnel. Moreover, the partner groups "act as guides to YouTube's content monitors," and engineers who develop algorithms to police more efficiently.

“We work with over 100 organizations as part of our Trusted Flagger program and we value the expertise these organizations bring to flagging content for review. All trusted flaggers attend a YouTube training to learn about our policies and enforcement processes. Videos flagged by trusted flaggers are reviewed by YouTube content moderators according to YouTube’s Community Guidelines. Content flagged by trusted flaggers is not automatically removed or subject to any differential policies than content flagged from other users,” said a YouTube spokesperson.

Another "trusted flagger" partner is the Anti-Defamation League (ADL). Originally organized to combat anti-Semitism, the ADL - with it's Soros-linked National director who last worked in the Obama admin, now spouts hyperbolic propaganda against conservatives, while failing to apply the same nebulous standards to the left. For example; their campaign to lump all Trump supporters in with white supremacists, while failing to mention far-left progressive organizations such as Antifa, Redneck Revolt, and only called listed the anti-Semitic black nationalist hate group New Black Panthers (founded in 1989) after they were called out on it last year.

YouTube's mass censorship comes at yet another critical inflection point in the nation's dialogue over gun control following the Parkland, FL shooting. While gun control advocates have been given a platform on major networks, gun rights activists have been muzzled - primarily when their opinion has to do with 17-year-old Parkland survivor David Hogg along with several of his classmates who are anti Second Amendment.

Hogg went on CNN and was allowed to call the NRA "child murderers," (a claim which CNN host Alisyn Camerota told spokeswoman Dana Loesch "I don't believe you" when it was pointed out), while conservative accounts suggesting Hogg is an actor, or that he was given lines to read for post-shooting interviews, are being censored by left leaning social media platforms.

Many have noted that Parkland 16-year-old pro-gun Parkland shooting survivor Kyle Kashuv has yet to be verified by Twitter, while Hogg and several of his classmates who went on Ellen to advocate for gun control have all been given "blue checks" by the platform.

YouTube also came under fire last week for promoting a clip of Hogg which fueled the "crisis actor" debate, featuring an exchange between Hogg and a Redondo Beach, CA lifeguard from 2017, in which the High School student places his boogie board on a trash can before getting in an altercation with the lifeguard.

After the lifeguard scuffle briefly became YouTube's No. 1 trending video, it was removed under their harassment and bullying policy and apologized for helping to fuel the "crisis actor" theory.

YouTube's official policy states that "harmful or dangerous" and "hateful" content may violate its guidelines - and if video creators receive three strikes for violating the rules within three months, YouTube will terminate the account.

The alternative community has such a great opportunity in the midst of all this censorship to become stronger. I sense YouTube may take a few steps back because they see the opportunity for the liberty community (prefer that moniker to conservative) where the alt community may not. YouTube is afraid we will strengthen the other alternative sites or more people will just put more effort into creating their own websites. They are apparently thinking this through and that is why they sound like they may reinstate some. Alternative channels that were banned should think twice before running right back for more games.

Will we begin to deal with our dependency on one-world-government monopolies like Goog and youtube and start strengthening the alternative sites? Will Alt show hosts stop back biting eachother like some do and start forming more of a friendly work relationship. How cool would a public discussion bet Alt hosts be on the possibility of a class action lawsuit against YouTube, etc? Youtube is anticipating this more than the alt hosts are. Or will the Alt community continue to stay fragmented? I'm all for decentralized communication but on the other hand Alt hosts shouldn't stay strangers or hostiles to eachother in the face of these attacks imho.

It would be a missed golden opportunity to go running back to YouTube after being banned and just be subject to their mind**king control games. Those who are more hip than folk like me to all the various and new or not well known sites similar to YouTube would do a tremendous service to start making lists of alternatives and disseminate them.

i agree with most of what Colonel Potter says but, he talks about Roch Theriault who was a Quebec illimunated in the most crazy way, being the head of a tiny church and having brainwashed 4 women who were his wifes, had beaten them, cut their arm without anything to diminish the pain, name it, when you think of torture. The guy was obviously sick. The women were so scared that they would not leave. Of course Col Potter is not guilty by association, but I think he should mention how gruesome torture Thériault has used on these women and the children.

And no, Thériault was not falsely accused and pursued by politicians, what he was accused of, he did - in this Potter is wrong (I personally met one of the women after the case was heard).

To tell the truth, I am always disappointed by animators in alt media, telling half truth or not telling the center of the stories. Just one little misjudgment like this from Potter make me doubt the rest of his words.

So sorry to have caught something so obvious for me, I would much more have preferred to think he is not pushing half stories. Now I doubt.
