    Default Netflix or Amazon Prime?

    Hello lovely people!
I'm pretty sure that most of you stream movies on Netflix but what's about Amazon Prime? I have a coupon for it and can get discount on subscription price. So any idea which one I should commit?

Which part of the world you are from is going to make a difference. Both Amazon and Netflix are different between UK and USA for example, and I know Netflix is somewhat different from USA to Canada. I think overall though, Amazon will give a larger base of variety to choose from, but how much of that is just crap is another good question.

Also it might help to know what your tastes are and what you are looking for in a provider?

    Hi,

I am in the UK, and I have access to both. I would say I watch Netflix content 5 times more often than amazon prime content. I guess it depends on what sort of thing you want to watch, so if you can get a free trial, give them both a whirl and see which you like best.

I watch Netflix "through" Amazon using a Fire Stick, out of interest, but you can probably watch Netflix directly through a smart TV, and definitely via your computer/mobile.

    Hope that helps.

    JC

Netflix offerings in Ecuador are slim. Many films are simply not available here via Netflix. I dropped Netflix in 2016 for that reason. However, Ecuador has a strong industry providing copied movies on DVD for $2 each - $3 for blu ray. It is impossible to find legal DVDs in any store here.

you have to be carefull from which country you are downloading "pirated" torrent content, here in germany for example you cant download it without vpn-server "your real ip-adress gets hidden".

if you chose not to use it you will receive a bad letter very quickly and things can get quite expensive.

so better check the legal part of your country first, im sure for most parts of the world it wont be this problem , but better be safe !

or just use a vpn directly

same in Canada, a window opens up with ThePirateBay.org telling us that in Canada, the law is very strict and we will be having problems if we do not use a VPN.

Go for a 30 day free trial on Amazon Prime is an idea

thinking about it, I think Netflix has a free trial as well.

A 'bad letter'? How does anyone know where to send it, or who you are?

An IP address isn't a unique physical address, or a unique e-mail address. Sometimes it's 100 miles away, or much more.

Are you saying that in Germany, use of torrents is reported to your service provider? (That'd be the only way to find you personally.)

Of course... I see the same here, too, and I ignore it. The Pirate Bay is just trying to scare people into signing up for an expensive service.

I just want to point out that when I clicked on the Pirate Bay link, and then movies, there are pornographic photos on both sides of the page. I am NOT a savvy tech since I stopped working (used to get all the instructions and latest from my workplace) so I'm not sure why those photos are there. I'm in the southern U.S.

get a vpn people. if you don't know what that is you shouldn't own a computer. torrents are the way to go. but, in saying that, if you have a vpn which allows international servers you can milk netflix for all its worth by switching up servers!

Kodi or popcorn time app for MacOS if you don’t want to download & save movies from piratebay or other torrent sites. I was foolish & did not use a vpn for over a year til I got the dreaded letter lol

There are also several websites that you can stream tv shows & movies with an extensive catalogue, more than Netflix & Amazon combined. Just make sure you use a vpn if you’re in the USA or any western country.

Ah ha the powerful VPN! yeah I have VPN extension installed on my browser so I'm quite secured if I stream movies on other websites than Netflix. So I signed up for a free trial of both Netflix and Amazon Prime I can now see the original content they offer, and yes Amazon is left behind in terms of this matter. However, most the good series (that I'm interested in) are the same for both, so maybe I just use up my voucher with Amazon then change Netflix afterwards
Thank you all for the reviews btw!

    Hi Bill (and others),

I quite agree. I used to rent vhs/dvds from the local video store but once they all closed down and dvds were phased out....I looked into downloading torrents. It literally changed my life. Of course, one must have a vpn service (highly recommended) to cover your tracks.

Besides The Pirate Bay....I'd also recommend www.idope.se/ to for some hard to find titles that you can't find on The Bay.

    +1

A few years ago I was downloading separate episodes of Game Of Thrones without a VPN service and I received an email from my ISP (actually, they forwarded me emails sent to them from HBO who tracked my IP address....telling me to cease and desist immediately). I received a warning email for every episode that I downloaded. I then got myself a VPN and have not received any more nasty emails since then (that was a few years ago). If you're gonna go with torrents....get yourself a VPN.
