    Did you know that:

In black and white films of yesteryear, blood was often chocolate syrup? Such as Hershey's. Red fluid came across as grayish and unconvincing.

Jerry Lewis, the actor, invented the playback system that was used on the set, thereby allowing for immediate retakes. Before he did that, film was taken off set before it was reviewed and this caused delays in the production of the film and increased the cost. His system also improved the quality of the final product because retakes were done while the actors were still in character. The system he devised is still in use, but has been refined further.

Did you know that a cup of light roast coffee actually has a higher amount of caffeine than a cup of dark roasted coffee, and more caffeine than nearly all espresso?

The longer coffee beans spend in the roaster heating, the darker they get, and the more caffeine is burned off.

The worms that are present in most soils of arable land in the United States, which are responsible for keeping it fertile, are not native: they descended from eggs which came across the Atlantic, embedded in the hooves of European horses. Every cloud has a silver lining!

A jellyfish named Turritopsis nutricula (and a few other species) is essentially immortal? When severely injured or dying, it can revert itself into a "genesis blob" and start its growth cycle all over again as many times as needed. During this process it can turn any existing cell into any other type of cell as needed. Sort of reminds me of the strange conspiracy legends about Prince Philip, accused of having similar abilities and always comes back reborn as someone new ... maybe he's a jellyfish.

Quote While it is often joked that cats have nine lives, a certain species of jellyfish has been deemed "immortal" by scientists who have observed its ability to, when in crisis, revert its cells to their earliest form and grow anew. That means that these tiny creatures, 4 millimeters to 5 millimeters long, potentially have infinite lives.

Satori, the original intent was for light hearted and interesting facts. I think chocolate syrup and Jerry Lewis fall into that category.

The largest living organism ever found is a honey mushroom, armillaria ostoyae. It covers 3.4 square miles of land in the Blue Mountains of eastern Oregon, and it's still growing.

I always found this fact interesting.

The American Chemist and inventor Thomas Midgley came up with the idea of adding lead to gasoline to stop the knocking in the internal combustion engine in 1921, which has obviously been banned now because of the damaging effect on the environment.

As if that wasn't bad enough in the 1930's he then went on to create CFC's for refrigerators, this too was also banned for the same reasons.

In later life he suffered from polio and was bed ridden. So he invented a system of ropes and pulleys so he could get out of bed on his own. Unfortunately this didn't go to well, as he was discovered dead, strangled by his own invention.

Sorry if it's a bit macabre, but interesting none the less!

    Love and Truth.

Money being sparce Desi's father decided to make patterns and designs with the broken tiles. An industry was born.
