    Default Elongated Skulls -- Europe

Mystery of alien-like skulls from medieval Europe revealed after 50yrs

Specimens with strong (left), some (middle) and no (right) skull deformation.

Scientists have finally cracked the mystery of the 1,500-year-old egg-shaped skulls found in Bavaria almost five decades ago. The 'alien-like,' elongated crania were unlike anything seen in northern Europe at that time.

The technique used to form the women's spiked scalps, scientifically known as artificial cranial deformation (ACD), could have only been applied during childhood when the bones were still forming and the skull was still soft and malleable. Egg-shaped skulls, as with most body modifications in ancient times, were seen as a sign of beauty, status or nobility, the researchers reported. The findings were published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences on Monday.

To unlock the mystery of the egg-shaped skulls, researchers looked at the DNA of 36 adults, 14 of whom had altered skulls, from six different Bavarian cemeteries. They also took DNA samples from a Roman soldier and from two women from Crimea and Serbia.

The DNA test showed that the cone-headed women had vastly different genetics than their Baiuvarii counterparts. All the people with deformed skulls analyzed in the research were found to originate from southern and southeastern Europe, with DNA coding for brown eyes and blond or brown hair, as opposed to their blonde-haired, blue-eyed Baiuvarii counterparts.

The archaeologists could not locate any children with cone-shaped skulls in the graveyard, dispelling the theory that the Baiuvarii practised skull-lengthening. In addition, the women were buried with local artifacts, indicating they had adapted to local culture. The new study shows they were long-headed, immigrant brides who traveled to Bavaria from an area within modern-day Romania, Bulgaria or Serbia during the sixth century A.D.

The cone-headed concubines had likely embarked upon the journey in order to cement strategic alliances during a time when the collapse of the Roman Empire had created somewhat of a power vacuum across Europe. Germanic peoples such as the Goths, Alemanni, Gepids and Longobards swept in to fill the gap and seize territory and power for themselves. The mysterious brides were discovered in a cemetery belonging to the Baiuvarii.

SOTT Comment: Elongated skulls and the practice of cranial deformation has been found all over the world covering wildly different time spans; who were the people with the naturally elongated heads? And why did people seek to imitate them?

elongated skulls have been found everywhere- one of my former co-workers who is a Swiss national (yes, in present time) has a slightly elongated skull- looks like a miniature of the Nefertiti skull- this continues in present time, although it seems to be very rare; you/we should go figure-

This one sentence covers so many sins. A closed mind has to fit new information into what is the currently accepted truth for that person.

I'm (slowly) coming to the conclusion that each individual lives in their own unique paradigm, that a Venn diagram of humanity would look not dissimilar to a cumulus nimbus cloud.

Not exactly in the elongated skulls folder, but I have a poster that shows giant human skeletons which have been found throughout the world. Goliath was around 10ft tall. According to this poster an almost intact human skeleton over 25ft tall was found close to Chateau Chaumont somewhere around 1500. Herve, have you ever heard of this or know what happened to it? Elongated skulls are fascinating. Giant are too. And Chateau Chaumont is on my chateau bucket list.

Most elongated skull images of beings from the past seem to have been revered
held positions of hi regard and couldn't live normal lives.
If the elongated skulls keep cropping up even in today's times, maybe they are the descendants of planed interbreeding, hiding?

    With love from russia:

"The Pyatigorsk skull was found at the excavation site of the Khasaot burial ground in the vicinity of Kislovodsk," says Doctor of Historical Sciences Vladimir Kuznetsov, the author of numerous studies of history of the North Caucasus. "The skull is part of culture of the ancient Alani. Approximately, it dates back to the 3rd - 5th centuries A.D. These strange skulls appeared at the same time when the Sarmatian and Alani hordes came around. Some of the nomads moved for the North Caucasus in 15th century."

    Yakovenkovo, Crimea
The remains of a 1.5-year-old boy with a large elongated skull were found near the village of Yakovenkovo in the eastern part of the Crimean Peninsula, says the Archaeology Fund (www.archae.ru), a group that organizes digs across Central Russia, Crimea and Northern Africa. The grave of boy dates back to the second century.

    About the disappeared Malta skulls:
In the megalithic temple of Hal Saflieni, in Malta, men with extraordinary cranial volume were buried. These skulls seem to belong to a strange human stock and if properly analyzed, could create an ideal link between the ancient Mesopotamian and Egyptian cultures and a race of sacerdotal men identified with the snake.

By Vittorio Di Cesare and Adriano Forgione of HERA magazine, Rome, Italy.

We are back from a visit in Malta among the suite of Maurizia Giusti, alias Syusy Blady and the crew of her Italian national TV show, "Tourists by Chance". Together, we followed the traces of an ancient story that originated from the presence of megalithic temples dedicated to the Mother Goddess on the island, a thaumaturgic figure, adored in pre-historical times of this island that was to become an important cult center. The coverage gave us the possibility to try to resolve a mystery of interesting implications. It was known that until 1985 a number of skulls, found in pre-historic Maltese temples at Taxien, Ggantja and Hal Saflieni, were exposed in the Archeological Museum of the Valletta. But since a few years ago, these were removed and placed in the deposits. From then, they were not to be seen by the public. Only the photographs taken by the Maltese researcher Dr. Anton Mifsud and his colleague, Dr. Charles Savona Ventura, remained to testify the existence of the skulls and prove…their abnormality....

There is or was a nationalist group in Poland which wanted to claim the Sarmatians as their national heritage. This culture has been found to have practiced head-binding until medieval times, often said to be an imitation of the natural phenomenon, which if I recall correctly, does not display a cranial suture.

Skeleton With 'Alien' Egg-Shaped Skull Discovered in Southern Russia (VIDEO)

    Sputnik Tech
    20:12 23.01.2019

Deformed skulls and necks have previously been found in the graves and burial sites of many ancient nations, such as the Alans, Huns, and Samaritans, with archaeologists believing that the remains belong to elite members of their societies.

Archaeologists from the Institute of Caucasus Archaeology have unearthed a strange-looking skeleton of a woman, who is believed to have lived sometime between the 4th and 6th centuries, near the Russian city of Nazran in the Caucasus Mountains. Her skull appears alien-like, as it was severely deformed [] and egg-shaped.

The strange shape of her skull and incredibly full rows of white teeth led scientists to believe that she belonged to a noble class of citizens. This is not the first time that archaeologists have found such skulls — several other nations, like Alans, Huns, and Samaritans, used special techniques to change the shape of skulls and necks. This was allegedly done by the nobility to underscore their status.

2,000-yr-old skeleton of toddler with elongated skull found in Crimea

The burial place of a 1.5-year-old boy with a deformed elongated skull was unearthed by archaeologists in Crimea. The scientists immediately dubbed the finding an 'alien' due to the unusual structure of the skull.

The remains were found near the village of Yakovenkovo in the eastern part of the Crimean Peninsula, says the Archaeology Fund, a group that organizes digs across Central Russia, Crimea and Northern Africa.

The grave of boy, which dates back to the second century, was a key finding of the recent expedition, according to anthropologists. The boy had an artificially lengthened skull, which is clearly seen in the pictures shared by the group.

The severe deformations of the skull immediately earned the site the name "alien's grave," the Archaeology Fund said.

Artificial cranial deformation, a form of body alteration, was practiced among many ancient cultures. It was typically carried out on infants, whose skulls were more flexible. However, some adherents of 'ancient astronauts' theories claim that the owners of such lengthened skulls may be human-extraterrestrial hybrids.

The archaeologists' group said that such skull deformations were typical for Sarmatians, who once inhabited modern-day Crimea. It is theorized that they may have used it to identify members of certain groups or bearers of a certain social status.

Archaeologists also unearthed a pottery vessel and small beads buried with the 'alien' and a copper bracelet on his right hand.

Several burial sites dating to the first-third centuries were also unearthed near where the scientists found the boy, as well as massive stone tombs believed to belong to high-ranking people from the Bosporan Kingdom, an ancient state located in eastern Crimea between the fifth century BC and fourth century AD.

... sure try to bind an infant's skull between wooden plates and get an increased cranial volume...
