    Who profits most from Korean peace on a geopolitical level? China!

    The US needs the Korean conflict as excuse to station their troops and missile interceptors in China's front yard. Sounds strange, but Kim's previous war rhetoric and missile threats where the best thing that could happen for the US military strategy.

    Peace and reduced or entirely removed US troops are a worst case scenario for the US and a major win for China.

    So I think, Kim got an offer from Xi that he couldn't refuse. Probably finalized and ratified at his recent "surprise" trip to China:
