One of my first favorite songs was "No Coke" by the Nigerian-born Swedish dentist and artist Dr. Alban (1990):

And I`ll never forget the first time I heard "Heal the World" by Michael Jackson on the radio (1992):

Or "Sleeping Satellite" by Tasmin Archer (1992):

This was played every friday night at the local disco: "House of Love" by East 17 (1992):

And this was all before Haddaway asked "What is Love" (in 1993):

and Spin Doctors` "Two Princes" (1993):

R.E.M. with "Drive" also brings me straight back to the nineties:

    as do 2Pac`s "Dear Mama":

    and Biggie`s "Juicy":

Holy moly. I was just getting ready to post "Two Princes" by the Spin Doctors. You beat me to it.

Shame on me; shame shame shame.

Mea maxima culpa - how did I not remember that this IS a 90s release?!!

    For goodness' sake.

The mighty mighty La's. (It's a Liverpool thing, right)

Here's "Way Out" - tumble down the stairs with the arpeggios here.......(parachute rolls, to facilitate a soft landing, recommended before the coda....)

    So right

Here's "Dissolved Girl" from the dizzy-ingly great 'Mezzanine' album. Guitar sampled shred here is quite something.

I used to listen to a lots of music in the 90's. I remember those times in the early 90's when MTV came to Finland but the thing is, it was on cable and we didn't have cable at our house. It was also when they actually played music videos almost 24/7. I was visiting my grandparents and my cousins as they both lived in same town and I remember bringing a lot of VHS-tapes so that I could record music videos, in LP-mode of course. So I stayed up late and recorded everything I possibly could and when I got back home I called my friends to come by and we would watch those videos I had recorded. Fun times. I was into heavier stuff right after Metallica released The Black Album so in the mid 90's I listened to a lot of metal, almost everything but black metal. But one of my guilty pleasures is to sit back, have few cold ones and watch 80-90's music videos on Youtube. Even those I absolutely hated back then.

But let's start with something that just blew my mind back then when I first saw it. I had to have the whole record immediately after I saw this video:

Some heavier stuff in this post. Does anyone like Dream Theater? This song too blew my mind at the time. I was back then trying to learn how to play guitar and when I thought I could play something, I heard this. It seemed almost impossible to learn or to play.

Quote James LaBrie: Pull Me Under didn't start breaking until we shot that amazing video.

Kevin Moore: We were in the dressing room and Dave Chieka our first road manager comes in and says... "The record company decided to shoot some footage tonight. They got some kind of deal going. They're going to have a film crew come out and do it really cheap. So put on your best shirts."

    James Labrie: Yeah right.

    Living Colour anyone?

These guys used to hang out with "Sonic Youth", back in the day ('80s) at, I think it was. Green Street studios in NYC. I may have become muddled with the studio name, but, all splendid; pretty sure that's where it was.

And they're a man down now which is very sad.

..and the quite remarkable Tori Amos.

I cited 'Little Earthquakes' earlier in the thread but along came "Boys for Pele", and the quite gorgeous opening salvo: "Beauty Queen/Horses" - "Horses" being quite one of the loveliest things I'd heard up to that point, and, I find myself returning to it now...

One of the great bands that bubbled under in England in the 90s and, probably ever since.

I know they made my list further up.

Wish I could issue a thank you to every post here with one press of a key.

This song had meaning to me in that sense of wanting to share an ethereal moment with anyone else at the moment it happens.

Not sure it qualifies for the thread though. Incubus came together as a band in the 90's but this track was released in early 00's.
