This is just our brain/mind looking for and seeing patterns as part of the process of seeking to make sense of things.
No its not that ...
The subconscious mind has two characteristics that play into this - it knows no judgement or evaluation but can be programmed, and it influences the 'filtering' effects of the brain.
Bill's "Red Ford" example above is pretty good - and if you extrapolate on that, the actual positive effects of "being positive" follows the same mechanism. If I read somewhere that 9:11 or 11:11 has some major significance, my subconscious cares little for whether I believe it or not - it has no judgement. It takes that input of "significance" that you exposed your mind to (a writing somewhere or a story someone told you) at face value.
Your brain mostly just filters things to give you a narrow point of view or a narrow consciousness - human minds are notoriously stuck with the "zoom level' on full or almost full, a mechanism that allows us to focus our attention on the physical plane, as a physical being.
The "Spell of Matter" in a sense causes our "focusing mechanism" (metaphorically speaking) to be stuck on high zoom. The result is the the brain is filtering out the vast majority of what you perceive with your senses and what you feel with your "emotions".
So what is chosen to get through this filter? That which has significance to your subconscious mind. When you buy a new red Ford "Focus" for example, (pun intended
), your excitement about it amps up the significance of those cars within your subconscious, and then suddenly your brain starts letting every red Ford Focus in your peripheral to be noticed by your conscious mind, and the result is you see scores of them daily, where previously your brain filtered out all of them because they had no subconscious significance to you.
The exact same mechanisms applies to your conscious and emotional outlook (hence being positive allows more positive opportunities to present themselves, negative outlooks presents more negative opportunities) and how things like the 11:11 or 9:11 (likely related to the "event", or, perhaps even past life events that have been genetically encoded that your subconscious has access to) are able to always be caught by your consciousness whenever they enter your periphery.
This is a simple mechanism and is really key in understanding how humans are controlled, but also how we can control ourselves. I wrote a thread way back on meditation with a partial purpose of explaining the importance of being able to control what goes into your subconscious, and how to "reprogram" it for your benefit, because if we don't do this ourselves, there's a plethora of entities and systems that are designed to use exactly this mechanism to influence you. it is why marketing works and is a multi billion dollar industry.
At the end of the day the mechanics are actually simple ... to be honest this is the best general guidance I can give to anyone ... properly understanding this is in my opinion, vitally imperative to having the access to actually change humanity, (yourself) for the better.
