The fact that Cannes has become publicly associated with sex trafficking certainly sparked headlines. And yawns. After all, for decades, the festival — with its booming yacht circuit and influx of wannabe actresses and uber-wealth — had been ground zero for nefarious activity, including sex trafficking in all its myriad forms. What's more surprising is that despite the tidal shift in awareness post-#MeToo, bad behavior on the Cannes party scene persists.

One producer says it should raise a red flag any time you see a foreign-born actress with no credits suddenly make her way into a U.S.-shot movie. "No one would legitimately pay for the H-1 visa for that kind of role. No way. It costs four or five thousand bucks," he says. "As a producer, there's no chance that there's this one-liner that should be a local hire [and] that we're going to go with a first-timer from Ukraine and get a work visa for her."

And yet, it happens with disturbing frequency, with the Cannes Film Festival playing a pivotal role. THR has learned of at least one now-prominent actress who made her first connections on a Cannes yacht and quickly landed her debut role in a U.S.-shot movie. In exchange, she told confidants, she was passed around to a group of Hollywood men, sometimes coerced. Another name actress has a nearly identical trajectory. Both declined to speak to THR.

Great thread.

Thought I might post something a little different; about the film Unplanned. Hopefully nobody minds.

Part of what prompted me was that one character in the film is played by Robia Scott. Before becoming a Christian speaker and coach Robia had been all too familiar with show business, having performed with Prince as one half of the Diamond and Pearl duo and having had a role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I find it interesting, on occasion, when someone in the entertainment industry seems to choose a different route in life; seeking to connect more closely with God, rather than mesh themselves deeper in the Hollywood undergrowth.

Unplanned is based on the memoir by Abby Johnson, and follows the life of Johnson as a clinic director for Planned Parenthood and her subsequent conversion to anti-abortion activism.

Abortion is an enormously difficult topic, and I'm not posting this to make an oversimplified statement about it. What was interesting to me about the film, and about the information in an interview of Abby's that I watched, was more the way Planned Parenthood reportedly works as a business in Abby's experience; its shady practices, and the questions that raises about its drives and motivations.

At the Red Carpet clip linked below, one attendee says at 2:36 :

“I think this film has a special power to actually show what abortion is, in a way that other films haven't, and then also to give an opportunity for hope – to be relatable, so that it's not down on people who've had abortions, or gone through abortion, or been in support of abortion. But it's an opportunity to think of it another way, and to be open to hope and change, and healing ultimately.”

Another at 3:32 claims :

“Hollywood does not want this film to be made because there's a linkage between all liberal thought, and even liberal theology, and Planned Parenthood. This should shut Planned Parenthood down.”

Amidst a culture of big and small screen productions that are wantonly violent, it was interesting to see something a little different, based on a true story, get a Hollywood red carpet treatment.

Whatever anyone's thoughts on religion or abortion, the film tells a story about PP that I personally found compelling. And I think the comment that elements of Hollywood wouldn't have wanted this movie made is probably accurate.

Issac Kappy, the actor who had been exposing Hollyweird pedophiles, jumps to his death from bridge in AZ.

The actor who allegedly choked Paris Jackson and accused Seth Green of pedophilia jumped off a bridge in Arizona and died.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety has confirmed Isaac Kappy is the guy who jumped to his death Monday at the bridge near Bellemont, Arizona. Kappy reportedly forced himself off the Transwestern Road bridge onto Interstate 40 where he was struck by a Ford pickup truck ... officials confirmed Tuesday morning.
Before jumping off the bridge ... several bystanders tried physically restraining Kappy from jumping but failed to hold him. There were no other injuries and authorities have now closed their investigation.

The above quote from wikipedia paints a picture of a interfered with childhood, and a picture that is all to "common both in and out of Hollywood".

For the victim suicide attempts, mental illness (Bi-Polar, PTSD, borderline personality disorder and so on), violence and substance abuse in an effort to vent their anger or to escape the torture that they experience "daily" when they relive horribly events as flashbacks or nightmares.

A child raised in a health house hold simply does not behave like this.
