Several Middle East TV channels and a US news channel have been sent to Jisr al-Shughur in Syria’s Idlib Governorate to produce the footage needed for the provocation, a statement by the Russian Center for Syrian Reconciliation said. It added the intelligence came from local residents of Jisr al-Shughur.

“All the footage of the staged provocation in Jisr al-Shughur is to be delivered to the newsrooms of TV channels, which are to broadcast it after its publication on social media,” the statement claimed.

It also said that an Islamist group was provided with two canisters of a “chlorine-based chemical” for the purpose of the operation.

The Russian military said the footage would include scenes of White Helmets operatives treating supposed victims of an apparent barrel bomb chemical weapon attack by Damascus.

Moscow has repeatedly warned that a false flag chemical weapon attack was being prepared in Idlib, giving the US and its allies justification to attack Syrian government forces. Senior US officials have threatened Damascus with retaliation if it uses chemical weapons in Idlib and even preemptively assigned the blame for any such attack to the government.

The game that RT is playing is to release as much as they can, as soon as they can. The closer to the eventual looming false flag that they get to, the harder the media in the West have to work to sell this attack as real. Therefore it is about sending out predictions of the potential attack on social media.

I personally am complying with both. Many friends think that I have finally gone completely nuts, however now may be the time.

My take-Russians are trying to get the Idlib pocket closed down. They have managed to get the Syrians, Iranians, & Turks into a hopefully united front to do this. It is very urgent for them because there is an undisclosed number of US Marines, British special forces and, shall we call them UK/USA/Israel irregulars - A.K.A. Isis, there. As long as these groups are there, peace in Syria, and the survival of the Syrian state in its current form are far from guaranteed.

The only way these insurgent forces and their western support can ramp up this nearly-finished horror is to involve the West in air attacks. The only way to do that is to have a chemical attack. Therefore the Western-backed elements HAVE TO do this soon. The Russians do not want this. As it could lead EASILY to hot confrontation between western forces and Russian forces. The two main ways to stop it are

a) Go in and wipe out the people trying to pull it off
b) Flood the media with predictions & evidence, so that western public perception struggles to accept the false western narrative that Assad did it.

It is interesting to see how these days information war is so intertwined with physical war. It really reminds of the Hunger Games Movies.

There is a cease fire in force - Russian implemented, so I would say we are on a hair trigger.

With the downing of MH17, "sanctions" were immediately imposed on Russia on alleged evidences which were never provided.

Russia and Iran have been documenting the kidnapping of children and adult civilians as well as the transport of chlorine containers and assorted chemicals needed to concoct some sort of mustard gas - to the Idlib region - all by the western-backed terrorists.

With such documentation, the western "coalition" cannot invoke "sanctions" or "retaliation" for the bombing of Syrian targets and would have to deny that such actions are being a bona fide false flag to trigger an act of war, by direct aggression, on Syria.

The White Helmets have shot at least nine videos intended to serve as proof in accusations that the Syrian government conducted a chemical weapon attack using chlorine against civilians in Idlib, the Russian military claims.

A number of Middle Eastern TV channels and a regional affiliate of a US broadcaster "have shot nine videos, in Jisr al-Shughur city in Idlib province, of a staged chemical attack" that will be blamed on the Syrian government, the Russian Reconciliation Center In Syria said in a statement on Wednesday.

All videos show activists from the White Helmets group, which purportedly provides assistance to civilians, the statement claims.

The Russian military details that on September 11, the White Helmets and terrorists from Tahrir al-Sham (commonly known as Al-Qaeda in Syria) held a meeting following the filming process, in which they selected two out of nine videos for future transfer to the United Nations and the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW). The remaining videos are to be used for propaganda on social media networks due to the poor quality, the military claims.

At the same time, since September 9, the White Helmets have been staging rehearsals of an alleged chemical attack in Khan Shaykhun, Russian officials say in the same statement, claiming that the rehearsals feature up to 30 civilians, including a dozen children aged 8-12.

Politically, the Bundeswehr is still arguing about possible military retaliatory strikes in Syria. Legally, the situation seems to be pretty clear according to a recent report. On Wednesday, the Bundestag will take up the issue.

An involvement of the Bundeswehr in a military action in Syria would violate both international law and the Basic Law according to a Bundestag Scientific Service report.

As a result, any involvement of the Bundeswehr in an action by the Allies in Syria in the form of ‘retaliation’ against poison gas use would be contrary to international law and unconstitutional,” states the 10-page expertise drafted for the German parliament on Monday against the background of the current debate, and published by the German Press Agency.

Proceedings of the Western powers in April were classified as contrary to international law
On Monday, it had become known that the defense ministry is considering a German involvement in a “retaliatory” action if the government forces of Bashar al-Assad were to commit a poison gas attack during the reconquest of the jihadist stronghold of Idlib. In April, following an alleged use of chemical warfare agents in Syria, Germany did not participate in the bombardment by the US, Britain, and France.

Even then, the Scientific Service of the Bundestag had classified the actions of the Western powers as contrary to international law. The assessment that a Bundeswehr involvement would violate the Basic Law, on the other hand, is new.

The parliamentary mandate of such a Bundeswehr deployment would then be unnecessary, since the Bundestag may only mandate foreign missions, based on a viable constitutional and international legal basis,” it says in the report.

In the view of the Scientists of the Bundestag, the government should therefore not submit such an intervention to parliament for parliamentary approval. SPD leader Andrea Nahles has already given such an intervention a political rejection. Several politicians of the Union and the FDP, however, have pleaded for keeping the option open.

“If there would also be a use of poison gas in Idlib, Germany would have to ask our friends’ requests for support very seriously, especially if our skills are requested,” said the foreign policy spokesman for the Union faction in the Bundestag, Jürgen Hardt, according to the Passauer Neue Presse.

His party colleague Norbert Röttgen told the newspapers of the Funke media group: “Germany should consider participating in a military operation in Syria with its allies USA, France, and Great Britain under certain conditions.” Röttgen is Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Bundestag, which has the lead in mandating Bundeswehr operations.

The Federal government has not categorically excluded anything
The Greens also do not want to exclude intervention by the Bundeswehr completely. For its part, the Federal Government has not categorically excluded participation in a military operation. So far, however, it has not yet made it own legal assessment of the air strikes of the Western powers in April. For the first opinion of the Scientific Service on the subject the government is silent.

The destroyer USS Ross was deployed to Syria during US military strikes last year. Will it again be firing it cruise missiles at the Arab country?

The experts for the Bundestag emphasize the following points in particular:
International reprisals in the form of military retaliatory strikes are basically inadmissible. This applies even if a government has violated a central standard of international law, as would be the case with the use of chemical weapons.

Support of acts contrary to international law is itself contrary to international law
Britain’s argument that it is a “humanitarian intervention” to protect the civilian population does not count for the Scientific Service, because bombing was first and foremost about enforcing the ban on chemical weapons and not about protecting the population.

As for compatibility with the Basic Law, the scientists write:

The participation of Germany in a military action in violation of international law can never be constitutional.

German authorities should not “participate in a violation of third countries against general rules of international law”. According to the scientists, it does not matter whether German Tornado or Eurofighter jets drop bombs on Syria or fire missiles. “The (mere) military-logistical support of such a military mission would also be contrary to the law of state responsibility as supporting a violation of international law which itself is a violation of international law.” On Wednesday, the defense committee of the Bundestag wants to deal with the topic. In the afternoon, the topics of foreign affairs and defense will be on the agenda in Parliament’s budget debate. Here, too, Syria will play a central role.

A volunteer group of search and rescue workers called the Syria Civil Defense group — better known as the White Helmets — is frequently subjected to unfounded conspiracy theories, such as the claim that the group “stages” various acts of violence using “crisis actors.”

These accusations were superficially bolstered by a set of images which purportedly showed the group staging a chemical attack in Douma, Syria in April 2018. Dean McGonigle, a congressional candidate running for Nevada District 4, helped promote this theory:

Although these images do feature actors, they are not of the “crisis” variety. These photographs were taken on the set of the Syrian movie “فيلم رجل الثورة” or Revolution Man, and they have been on the Internet since at least 24 February 2018 (more than a month before the alleged chemical attack in Douma) when they were posted to the movie’s Facebook page.

The belief that the White Helmets or similar groups are staging chemical attacks in Syria is not one exclusively held by conspiracy theorists or the uninformed. It is parroting Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad’s line that crisis actors were used to stage a terrorist attack in April 2017 and claims that a photograph of a young child in the aftermath of an airstrike on Aleppo had been forged. Assad’s regime also denied using chemical weapons in Douma.

Revolution Man pushes a similar idea. A news report from Sana about the premiere of the film, which was supported by the Syrian Cultural Ministry, explained that the movie is about a photojournalist who resorts to staging a chemical attack in an effort to win a Pulitzer Prize after he sneaks into Syria to take photographs of the war:


The film revolves around a journalist who enters Syria illegally in order to take pictures and videos of the war in Syria in search of fame and international prizes, and after failing to reach his goal, he resorts to helping the terrorists to fabricate an incident using chemical materials, with the aim of turning his photos into a global event.

In other words, photographs from a film set about a man staging a chemical attack are being used by conspiracy theorists (and Russian state media) as evidence that a chemical attack was actually staged. (Although the controversial film does acknowledge that chemical attacks take place in Syria, it places the blame on foreigners and activist groups — such as the White Helmets.)

Another set of images frequently associated with the claim that the White Helmets were caught staging a chemical attack also made their way around the internet after the incident in Douma:

These images have been online since 2016, and show members of the White Helmets filming a “mannequin challenge” video. A spokesperson for the group told the BBC that the video was never officially sanctioned and that the members demonstrated poor judgement and opened the group up to criticism:

“The video and the related posts were recorded by RFS media with Syria Civil Defence (White Helmets) volunteers, who hoped to create a connection between the horror of Syria and the outside world, using the viral Mannequin Challenge,” the statement read.

“This was an error of judgement, and we apologise on behalf of the volunteers involved.

“The video was not shared on our official channels, and we took immediate action to discipline those involved and prevent incidents such as this from happening again.

“Our volunteers are committed to saving lives by responding to, and reporting, war crimes in Syria.

“This leaves us open to attacks, not just from the bombs but from those who seek to silence us for telling the truth.”
