I googled stuff today that is on projectavalon.net . Nothing came up. (I usually use startpage.com but this doesn't always get enough results)

I noticed if I search Google for "Natural News" that I do get the main site. Also, googling "Project Avalon" also gets me our site. But all the thousands of pages of posts don't seem to be there.

Have we also been placed on Google's "naughty and not nice" list?

[UPDATE] I '"googled" a few recent thread titles and found them on Google. I think we are still there.

How many of the Top 500 Biggest Alternative Media Youtube Channels are Down? ... See WhyNotNews.eu

I need to update that site ... it is now more relevant than ever

idea : we can make a list too to "shadow-ban" them ... did you know that you can create your own filter in the settings of google search ... like search everything except these sites and all content on that site ... in this way we can look how much is left if we create our own reverse algorithm ... you can also create a search engine that ONLY looks at that list we have now ... a good friend of mine is already working on an alternative site search engine!

This shadow banning thing is so effective that people are still not aware enough that it's having a huge effect on our on line activities. As best I can understand it so far, it's a very sophisticated algorithm of selective ranking of all sorts of things. They are probably still working on it and it will get to a ridiculous level where a person can't even use google to research a serous piece of work.

I heard Richard Dolan say recently that google isn't what it used to be and it's getting harder to find the things he's looking for.

This is a very serious subject. It's still not being taken serious enough.

I noticed this 15+ years ago........

My history with the web is greater than most, though, going back to the pre 9600 baud modem and BBS days. Earlier, even. We were excited to get to 33k baud, and then the impossibly fast 56k baud....where it was "de rigueur" to use US Robotics modems....as they were the best.

Do you search specifically on Avalon?

    I mean, do you use:
    Code:
    "site:projectavalon.net"
For example if you search for 911, you would type:

    Code:
    "site:projectavalon.net 911"
Simply typing "project avalon 911" won't do that.

    ...

I only noticed in the last months that Google doesn't show me some things that I know to be there on the internet. For me, that was the straw that broke the camel's back to switch to DuckDuckGo.

I've got DDG set up as my default Firefox search and google saved as a quick launch pane.

DDG is fine for a lot of things but does a poor job with others. If I'm looking for stuff to do with equipment/gadgetry DDG is pretty hopeless for some reason. That's when I switch to Google which seems to be very much optimised for that kind of market and market support chatter. It's probably advertiser driven.

I still have my US Robotics modem ... though I'm not sure if there is anything left to connect to.

33k baud -- too fast man -- nobody needs that speed -- I was happy to upgrade from 110 to 300 baud -- finally my line could transfer characters faster than I could type them.

My recollection is that DuckDuckGo uses multiple search engines, so is not limited to only what Google provides.

However I seldom use DuckDuckGo, because they have less powerful tools for selecting and sorting what search results I get back.

The first decent, with powerful tools, alternative to Google that I've found is Yandex.com
