    Default Scotland. Ever wondered...?

Wondered if this was the right place to post, but here we go...
Grab a coffee and open that enquiring mind of yours.

I'd love your thoughts on this:

    Scotland.
Ever wondered where does all the money go?

Ignoring Oil, Salmon, Lamb, Angus Steaks, Fish around our coasts et al...

Just one brand - Glenfiddich Whisky is produced at 1 distillery in Dufftown, Speyside in the highlands of Scotland.

Up to 14,000,000 litres of this particular brand of whisky gets produced per annum from this one distillery.

(Full list of production capacity of distilleries... https://www.whiskyinvestdirect.com/a...es-in-scotland)

Now mentally prepare yourself but just add up the numbers in the far right column.

    Hmmmmm.

    KEY QUESTION

In shareholders' and coporations' quest for greater profit, efficiency, automation & ROI, ask yourself.....

....What % of capacity/production is the total ACTUAL output for storage of whisky into warehouses each year?

OK, Having planted that seed for you to ponder...

    Some quick facts & questions:

    1. Scottish Whisky contributes nearly £5bn p.a. to UK economy (39 bottles - £139 - a second, exported).

    2. Apparently, A whisky barrel contains 53 gallons and allowing for evaporation that equates to roughly 250 litres (up to 360 x 70cl bottles) of whisky.

    3. "The 74% tax (VAT and excise duty) is based on an average selling price of £14.15 for a 70cl bottle (as at June 2018) of Scotch Whisky in the off-trade in the UK. Of that, excise forms £8.05 and VAT forms £2.36. Therefore total tax on a bottle is £10.41"

    Now some real maths....

    4. There are 128 licensed distilleries in Scotland. (2017)
    5. Over 20,000,000 barrels/casks stored in bonded warehouses in Scotland. (Really? What were those production figures, again? )
    6. Thats 20m barrels x (Let's be conservative at 250 Bottles per barrel) rising in value daily.
    7. That's over 50,000,000,000 bottles x £10+ of FUTURE tax revenue for the future prescribing Government.

And production, doesn't stop while other held stock matures

Governments. Natural Resources. Profits. Central Power.

    Air. Malt. Water.

It's not just whisky tho - is it? Wot u reckon?

Eeeee me, and Don't get me started on bottled water

The regions of Britain are all sucked hollow by the south east. Every time I go south I'm clobbered by seeing where all the money is.

I know Scotland is a different case but there was a flurry of propositions to give the regions their own 'governments' a couple of decades ago. I asked myself would they have suggested and offered it a few hundred years ago when the empire was in full swing. Not a chance, they needed us then. Now, they think they don't, and they want to create as big a barrier between us and their grabbed wealth as they can.

I'm quite glad the strategically stroked political egos in the regions where unable to make it happen. If we ever get up and storm the castle I want it to still be the castle where the stolen wealth is.

    A little known probability.
The Scots were probably the first slaves of the English
Many starved or had to leave for other countries.
They were cannon fodder for the English desire to "rule" the world. Common wealth --where did that name come from
    No much common about it.
For the greater good of the nation--Im smiling
The Scots were conned into being front line soldiers for the honor of --what?
The English north of the Waterford gap did not fare any better.

Having said that I have never met an English person I did not get on with.

I dont vote but I have respect for the SNP and in particular Nicola Sturgeon -I trust her.

The thought that Scotland could not survive without England is just not true.
There are more people in greater London than the whole of Scotland--that's where the money goes.
Not saying that's un fair after all their vote keeps whatever elected Government there is in power.
Scots would never vote a Tory Government in.
Im not a supporter of any party --on the whole their intention is probably for the greater good.
However I object to the amount of money spent on "Defense of the Realm"
One well placed missile and an aircraft carrier that costs billions and thousands of a crew would be gone--while the NHS is short of money as is welfare of the "needy"

Tax figures generally are astronomical but when you divide them by the population they don't seem so big. A quick guesstimate for your £500,000,000,000 in whisky tax comes to about £100,000 per head of the Scottish population, which because of the tiny 5 million population is actually quite big! But divided by te UK population is well under £10k per head. But what about petrol tax? This must be far greater. Tax in general is huge but where does it go? To pay off government debt on money created out of thin air by the privately owned central banks.

That's a pretty clever scam and people get upset if you don't pay your taxes?
