Mergers and acquisition deals have fallen by $783 billion in the third quarter of this year compared with the prior quarter, a decline of 35%, Reuters reported.
"We've got some clouds on the horizon, vis a vis a trade skirmish, or potentially a trade war with China" Citigroup’s global co-head of M&A, Mark Shafir told Reuters.
"Anything that points to uncertainty and a lack of confidence is not good for M&A," Hernan Cristerna, JPMorgan's Global Co-head of M&A told Business Insider on September 24. "A prolonged trade war will, of course, mean large cross-border deals are more difficult and harder to get across the line.

The Trump-China trade war has already torpedoed at least one mega merger. Bankers aren't so optimistic at it stopping there.

Mergers and acquisitions are down globally by $783 billion in the third quarter of this year, marking a decline of 35% from the quarter before, Reuters reported. Qualcomm's decision to cancel its $44 billion acquisition of NXP Semiconductors back in July made it high profile victim of a bitter Sino-U.S. trade spat — China's delay in offering an antitrust nod was seen as retaliation for US tariffs.

US President Donald Trump's escalating trade war has cast doubt about other possible deals involving China, including the planned $23 billion acquisition of Rockwell Collins by aerospace supplier United Technologies.

"Anything that points to uncertainty and a lack of confidence is not good for M&A," Hernan Cristerna, JPMorgan's Global Co-head of M&A told Business Insider in a separate interview on September 24. "A prolonged trade war will, of course, mean large cross-border deals are more difficult and harder to get across the line."

There has been a drop in the volume of global deals by about 6% compared to a year ago, with the number of new deals announced at their lowest level since 2013.

"We've got some clouds on the horizon, vis a vis a trade skirmish, or potentially a trade war with China. You have the potential for a hard Brexit and we've got rising rates," Citigroup’s global co-head of M&A, Mark Shafir, told Reuters.

US M&A fared better then other regions in the quarter, and the first nine months of 2018 has seen global deal making reach a record $3.2 trillion. But announced deals in the Asia-Pacific were down 38% and fell by 14% in Europe.

"We’re already seeing signs that geopolitical risks, including trade tensions, are dimming the prospects for large-scale M&A going into next year," Cristerna told BI.

If you want to make an omelette you have to break a few eggs.
There are always going to be a few pawns sacrificed to position yourself for the end game.

Trump's plans aren't perfect but they are radical and right now the USA needs radical, I apologize if you are in another country and as such not seeing this from an American's point of view, but as far as folks in the states are concerned we love Trump, and those that don't have their own agendas they are pressing.

    Hello Everyone:

You know I am from another country BUT I have lived in the states and alot of my family were from the USA. I have alot of relatives living in the states as we speak. I could have got my us citizenship with no problems since my ancestors were american and owned land in the us or were born there whichever seems relevant here.
I am not putting these articles on project avalon to feel special or whatever you seem to think! I am putting relevant articles that show there are problems that are happening to you as americans and also people who are my family members.
At one time I thought trump was going to be great BUT after he has attacked my country which is Canada and pretty well every country he has talked about then my views changed greatly.
Thinking you are special and being special are two different things.
When you want to be great that doesn't mean you have to kick your closest friends in the ass for something that is not true.
We have a few politicians that act the same as trump BUT they aren't doing anything for us either. They just want to look special.
I could list alot of things that are completely lies BUT you love trump and won't listen to reason and I am not here to change anyones mind. Just inform.
Personally you and I disagree about trump. BUT that's not going to change your prices and my prices going up on pretty much everything because of tariffs that your president put on all of us including you.
When everything goes up for you and me as a Canadian and most other people in the free world then tell me how you feel?
Adding 450 jobs and losing 10,000 jobs doesn't sound like a good business plan.
As an american you want to make "America great again" BUT pretty much destroy every relationship will all the friends of america doesn't seem like a good plan?
OR maybe since you are american you think being alone in the world is great?
From a Canadians point of view I am sure glad that I never got my us citizenship not because of americans but because of people like trump who we can seem to enjoy the plan of a bully. You think it's special for your president to be laughed at in the UN this week? Doesn't sound special to me but apparently just because we are on project avalon I have to overlook the truth? Doesn't sound like it's making "america great again"?

I hope it works out for you but you might end up like Canada where the prices are going up faster than you can say "GREAT"!
Canadians pay 1.30 per litre which is 5.85 per gallon for regular gas in the province that provides a great amount of your fuel that you drive to work with everyday of your life.

These anti-trump from MSM like NYT-Wapo make me sick... i feel like in twilight zone with spin cycle. i can really feel people talking about Media and CIA. None of these media go into real issue but spin so many narrative.

He didn't attack your "country". He said he was unhappy with the Canadian negotiating position in their trade talks on agriculture amongst other things.

Also, he was quite clear to make the distinction between Canada as a "country" and the particular position that was being presented on trade.

So here we have the meat and potatoes behind your agenda driven posts.

I would apologize for how Trump treats Trudeau except for how much of a Globalist chump Trudeau is.

Your animosity is displaced, it should be aimed at your prime minister.

But if your closest friend is trying to influence you to become a drug addict because they are one then your friend could use a swift kick in the ass.

Trudeau's socialist agendas and gender focused policies are idiotic in my opinion, and I would like to see America steering a different direction.

Canada and it's policy with opening it's door for the refugee situation seems ludicrous to me as well.

Trudeau is prostituting himself and Canada out to the Globalists in my opinion.

Look, I would love to bring you up to speed. But you won't probably hear any of it.

How do you feel about 9/11 and the people who brought that to you?

How do you feel about the destablization and regime changes that have gone on in the middle east for the past 20 years?

How do you feel about human trafficking? Women and children for sex/pedophile purposes and the harvesting of human organs? It is documented proof that the deep state in cooperation with certain defense contractors have been caught human trafficking in massive amounts from war torn Serbia/Yogoslavia under Bill Clinton, and this has only gotten worse as time has gone on.

How do you feel about the refugee situation in the Middle East that was created and brought to you by the past two administrations in the USA?
How do you feel about the present opiate epidemic in North America right now? This was brought to you by the same people who invaded Afghanistan.

How do you feel about World War III? Because the deep state who controlled the past two administrations in the USA had WWIII planned to take off soon after Hillary was elected.

How do you feel about a Western political and social destablization caused by an influx of Muslim refugees who would later take up the ISIS flag and begin over throwing Western countries from within as they aquire arms through programs like Obama's "fast and furious" program.

How do you feel about a depopulation agenda started with immunizations against the very diseases we are told they will prevent?

All of this and more was in store had Hillary been elected.

So please forgive me if I seem not to care for your butt hurt feelings over Trump flicking ashes in your prime minister's face.

Mergers and Aquisitions are the global corporation crunching into a final form unity.

However Trump is holding up that process, he's got my support.

He didn't attack your "country". He said he was unhappy with the Canadian negotiating position in their trade talks on agriculture amongst other things.

He did attack my country and he attacked your country and he attacked alot of countries using the guise of Tariffs.
You must be late to the tariff party!
Unfortunately you don't see that BUT you will very soon.

Also, he was quite clear to make the distinction between Canada as a "country" and the particular position that was being presented on trade.
You defintely have been late to the party! In fact your president has no idea about my country! It's something you will NEVER seen on cnn or cbs or any other station in the states. Most people in the states don't know much about Canada. Canadians are very versed in your countries affairs since it's broadcast into every home everyday. We as Canadians get pretty tired of the reteric but it just doesn't stop

I would suggest you find a news station from Canada and watch it and you will see what is happening that is hidden from your eyes.
    Good luck

    Well hello DNA:
As I told the other patriot it's time to learn about Canada!
We have our problems but we are a peace loving country and treat people with respect unless provoked.
I do not need a lesson in patriotism since I probably know more or at least as much about the usa as you do. I also know about my country. That's where we part company!
I HAVE NO AGENDA of any kind. The only one that has an agenda is YOU.
I don't need to be told how you love trump. I already figured that out. Love him all you want because he is the "elite" that you are always complaining about.
Contrary to what you believe he does not care about you and yours.
He doesn't care about me and mine.
As all elites he only cares about himself which is fine as long as it doesn't effect everyone else including you and me.

You think I haven't seen your patriot posts for years? I don't have a problem with that BUT your agenda is to make people like myself feel swell about lies, bullying and not knowing anything about countries like your neighbor whether you like Canada or not I don't give a rats *ss!

I am trying to give honest and as truthful as I can find articles to project avalon. You think I didn't know that people like you would come out with the attitude you have?
Of course I did. All you and your friends post do is prove what the articles are saying....
It's great for my position! I just have to sit back and let you tighten the words around you to prove the articles I have posted.
You can love whoever you choose! All I am saying there is a very, very fine line between love and hate!

Just wait and you will find out by the price of everything you hold dear going up and then talk about LOVE

    Good luck
    chancy

    Good luck
    chancy

Look Chancy I'm sorry. I was trying to be tongue in cheek while trying to make a point.

Sometimes this discussion feels hopeless to start because we will not agree on mutual evidence that we can both agree upon.

I combat the hopelessness by trying to make light of the situation a little bit.

The situation is just so dire in my opinion, and the avalanche of bad is just so much more than a few dollars lost on a consumer's buying power.

The USA had a series of media mergers in the late nineties, I remember at the time wondering why this was going on.

Then 9/11 happened and the official story was never questioned and the media was complicit in the cover up.

Those mergers gave the deep state and the pentagon all the cover they would ever need.

They could invade and destablize at will and dissent would never be given a voice.

You talk about watching the media in Canada and this is what is fueling your anger over Trump.

Dude the media in the USA is a constant Trump bashing marathon.

But ask yourself, if the same media that was and has been in bed with the deep state for the past twenty years hates Trump then that makes him an enemy of the deep state, and thus a friend to humanity.

Chancy, again I do apologize for making any statements that make you feel I'm criticizing you.

Let me make one statement that sums up our differences in our view of the world.

You probably think that humanity as we know it has a long and fulfilling future in front of us, I on the other hand think we are living on borrowed time.

In my opinion Hillary's election meant the beginning of the apocolypse in so far as Western Culture and the world at large was concerned.

Trump stopped this in my opinion.

I've never been a fan of any President in my adult life until now.

The deep state manipulated the Republicans and the religious right after 9/11 so as to accomplish their goals, now they are manipulating the Liberal left with different agendas in mind.

They need the guns gone so they can begin their shift towards their one world Government, new world order.

can anyone explain how important is this? how it kill monopoly of merging company? on mainstream keep talking about deficits and so on against china but the way i see it much more than that.

just saw this in other website..chinese brands are replacing american brands in china

Move over Apple and Nike. Chinese phone maker Huawei and food delivery giant Meituan Dianping have replaced you as some of China’s favorite brands.

Default I believe there is great hope and prosperity for our world

    Hello Everyone:
An easy way to understand this threads topic.......

There's a survey that was done many years ago now. The survey was to see how people reacted to their governments.

People were asked if their government was completely honest and fiscally responsible but the people had no job and couldn't make a living very easily would they vote for that government and have them as their government?

99% said they would NOT vote for an honest government like the one above.

They were then asked if they would vote for a government that was corrupt, dishonest and were lying to the public all the time.
The people who were to vote had a great job. Lots of spending money and were all debt free.

100% said they would vote for this government consistently. They would love this government and didn't care if they were completely corrupt as long as they had lots of cash. A real nice home and their standard of living was perfect.
We are exactly in this situation right now with our governments. People overlook too many things that are wrong with governments today!
    How would you vote?

I'll go a step further than that. Lets say that you and everyone you know remains well fed and you have a roof over your head, no problems, but the method in which your Government keeps this possible is by leveraging it's millitary and forcing a form of debt slavery on the rest of the world.

Folks think the USA's war machine is in the Middle East to make sure they control the oil flow, but it is more than that, the USA forces natural resource rich countries into making a deal where they will only sell their commodities in American Dollars.

This forces all the countries of the world who wish to purchase raw materials to keep large amounts of US cash on hand.

Kadaffi was selling most of his oil to Europe but it was his mistake of starting a new banking system and trying to create a new currency in Africa that caused Obama and Hillary to attack him.

This 13 minute video is absolutely essential if any of this is new to you.

Simple, to the point and absolutely true.

Trump has stopped this war machine in it's tracks.

This should cause everyone to pause.

It is a wonderful thing that Trump is not contributing to the refugee problem by destablizing and over throwing countries. But by taking the stance of no longer invading any more countries, Trump has removed the fear and intimidation that has been used by the USA to force countries to hold on to useless US dollars.

The stolen wealth of America, if properly reclaimed from those who stole it, could carry America through an informal bankrupcy, especially if it is returned in some other currency than the Federal Reserve dollar.

I think we have to make a distinction between the U.S. & the One World Gov't that has been running things since WWII.

I would say the majority of the people here have been living in the illusion of what we THOUGHT the USA was....we are in the process of seeing the governing bodies are something quite foreign to the tales we learned in school!

I'm all FOR the Restoration of the Rule of Law!! If it takes The Producer to make that happen....so be it!!

Mergers and Aquisitions are the global corporation crunching into a final form unity.

However Trump is holding up that process, he's got my support.
This is my take... why would we want MORE monopolies? mergers and acquisitions are terrible for normal people.

No we do not. Do not let DNA make you believe that all people in USA love Trump.

Some of us see him for exactly what he is. What DNA means is that since Trump is pushing an agenda that he agrees with DNA supports him. THis means that DNA supports: Continuing the use of Guantanamo Bay for illegal detention of human beings, Allowing the Saudi/Israeli Agenda of Crushing Syria, Yemen, and Iran(it is only matter of time now before someone attack Iran), Allowing the CIA to continue to hide JFK files from the public which should have been released by law unredacted, by created a Space force to "DOMINATE" space.

Since the president actually does have limited power, even though it wouldnt not appear that way to some, the things that the president does directly control(the things I mentioned above) are things that you support by supporting trump.

Im am sure that DNA is gonna go ahead and disagree with my post, but if you support the president you support the policies. I just listed known and official policies.

But the long and short of it is, yeah of course people in Arizona love trump but dont let that fool, everyone here does not love trump.

Corporations are really only the 'trading' arms of banks. All lines of credit lead to the bank. All global ambitions lead to the bank. What more do I need to say ? What are the bankers up to ?

If a bunch of bankers want to take over the world, have one good guess how they would do it
