Default Acetone can fix Cold Sores

I got a cold sore last week for the first time ever. Annoying. I know some people who've got them every winter for 20 years. I found that acetone has helped a lot of people. I bought some 20% strength.

Within 3 days, the cold sore had gone, after about 4 applications per day. Impressive + powerful.

    Hope that helps someone.

Lysine also good, and avoid eggs, chocolate and peanuts

I've gotten cold sores my entire life on and off. Thankfully I haven't been getting them much in the last few years but I've tried many different home remedies over the years. I haven't heard of acetone but I did try L-Lysine and didn't notice any noticeable difference in healing time, but I only tried it with one cold sore so that is only anecdotal.

When I was a kid we used to something called Orasept (I think that was the name) that was dark red in color like Iodine and it would cauterize the sore - hurt like hell as a kid but it worked wonders, though I believe it isn't made anymore. Nowadays I take some rock salt 3-4 times a day and push it into the wound for ~60 seconds each time - it does hurt but it is "good pain" and although it may make that area of your face throb with pain for a few minutes it seems disinfect it well enough and reduces pain for the following few hours. and overall speeds the healing process significantly.
