Lightbulb Sodom and Gomorrah - destroyed by God or Asteroid?

Possibly we need to ask about the purity and veracity of our "sources" (written word) in the Bible and Quran, or how about Buddhist - are there unadulterated versions of "written word" that talk about this time period? The early Bronze age noteworthy events (to be recorded as history) was written down by whom? Why would we believe King James as the authority of a 'bible' depicting history accurately? So back on topic the "god" that did the deed, or was it all fabrication for a deliberate manipulation of Humanity for promulgating an "agenda"?

We could look at the stone that fell from the sky and placed within the KaaBa - middle of Mecca's Grand Mosque is the black, cubic shrine of the Kaaba, the 'House of God,' which was said to have been built by Abraham (Ibrahim). On one corner of the Kaaba is the Black Stone, which is believed to be of meteoric origin. The exposed surface of the stone is roughly 6½ by 8 inches and is framed with a silver band. Here pilgrims can touch and kiss the Black Stone. Some suggest that the object is not really a meteorite but may be impact glass, perhaps from the meteor craters at Wabar, 670 miles east of Mecca.

A stone that comes from the Heavens and attributed to God..

    Beliefs by peoples

In 1853 a meteorite that fell in eastern Africa just north of Zanzibar was declared to be a god by the Wanika tribe until famine and a massacre by the Masai rendered its owners skeptical of its powers.

On December 2, 1880, a 6-pound meteorite fell at the feet of two Brahmins near Andhra, India, who immediately proclaimed themselves as ministers of the "Miraculous God" and attracted up to 10,000 pilgrims a day.

On August 14, 1992, dozens of rocks fell on the African town of Mbale in Uganda (Sky & Telescope: June 1993, page 96). Local residents ground up some of the fragments and ingested the powder as medicine. They believed the rocks had been sent by their god to cure AIDS.

So we are "keyed" to believe in that which comes from the Heavens' is important in some way, and possibly that a God sent them.. The humans then interpret it ??

That's why I was quoting the Quran and not the religion. There is no black stone mentioned in Quran and its not called the house of God the site in Mecca is holy because it was appointed to Muhammad to purify that place from idols and where the face is directed in prayers, but it is not specified the way it was the structure. That existing structure and the including of the black stone, it well can be an arab manipulation.

Jesus was clear--"The kingdom of heaven is within."
"Of myself I do nothing, it is the Father within."
From that I take that God and the heavens are not up in the sky but within.
Anything coming from the sky, I would therefore take to be a natural event.
There has been many asteroids and comets creating disaster for the human race through out history.
Why would this one be any different?

That's an assumption on my part and not claimed to be true--"A may be so"

Default Sodom and Gomorrah - destroyed by God or Asteroid?

    On the Kaaba -

The Kaaba (Arabic: أَلكَعْبَة‎ al-kaʿbah IPA: [alˈkaʕba], "The Cube"), also referred as al-Kaʿbah al-Musharrafah (Arabic: أَلكَعْبَة أَلمُشَرَّفَة‎, the Holy Ka'bah), is a building at the center of Islam's most important mosque, Al-Masjid Al-Ḥarām (Arabic: أَلمَسْجِد أَلحَرَام‎, The Sacred Mosque), in the Hejazi city of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.

    A few images:

    pulling back the curtains:

    the BLACK STONE:

instead of the "stone being a meteor" it is conjectured that this is black glass from an impact.

Throughout Muhammad's time (570–632 CE), the Kaaba was considered a holy and sacred site by the local Arabs.

Muhammad took part in the reconstruction of the Kaaba after its structure was damaged due to floods around 600 CE. Ibn Ishaq's Sirat Rasūl Allāh, one of the biographies of Muhammad (as reconstructed and translated by Guillaume), describes Muhammad settling a quarrel between Meccan clans as to which clan should set the Black Stone cornerstone in place.

According to Ishaq's biography, Muhammad's solution was to have all the clan elders raise the cornerstone on a cloak, after which Muhammad set the stone into its final place with his own hands.

It is the most sacred site in Islam.

It is considered by Muslims to be the Bayṫ Allāh (Arabic: بَيْت الله‎, "House of God"), and has a similar role to the Tabernacle and Holy of Holies in Judaism.

Its location determines the qiblah (Arabic: قِبْلَة‎, direction of prayer). Wherever they are in the world, Muslims are expected to face the Kaaba when performing Salah (Arabic: صَلاة‎, Islamic prayer).

A point being when something comes from the "Heavens" it appears to be a message from God, or of God, or a wrath of God, or a support from God. Therefore, with Sodom and Gomorrah the message from God was to be destruction for not following the codified (? was it codified at that time) instructions in how to live and carry oneself..

Ancient meteor explosion ‘could explain Bible story of Sodom and Gomorrah

    https://uk.yahoo.com/news/ancient-me...105721160.html

The story of Sodom and Gomorrah in the Book of Genesis, where God ‘rains burning sulphur’ on the cities, might have a grain of truth, archaeologists claim.

A meteor that exploded above the Dead Sea 3,700 years ago with the force of a nuclear device might have wiped out tens of thousands of people, and devastated a wide area, researchers say.

Tests on the soil hint it was contaminated by salts, making it unable to be farmed for hundreds of years, the researchers say.

A dig at the Bronze age city of Tall el-Hamman (which some believe to be the Biblical city of Sodom) suggest that the heavily defended city (with 50ft high walls) was blasted by a powerful shock wave.

Writing in a paper entitled, ‘The Civilization-Ending 3.7KYrBP Event: Archaeological Data, Sample Analyses, and Biblical Implications’, the researchers say that the blast may have wiped out settlements in an area of 193 square miles.

Previously archaeologists had believed that the settlement might have been damaged in an earthquake, but the damage to the walls is directional – hinting it might be a shock wave.

A pottery shard found at the site also had one side melted into glass – which the researchers believe could have been caused by a sudden temperature of 4,000C.

Samples from the soil also show high levels of sulfates, which may have meant that the area was left unable to support farming for hundreds of years after the blast, which the researchers say may have been equivalent to a 10-megaton nuclear device.

The researchers write, ‘the archaeological data collected from across the entire occupational foot-print of Tall el-Hammam, [demonstrates] a directionality pattern for the high-heat, explosive 3.7KYrBP Kikkar Event that, in an instant, devastated approximately 500km2 immediately north of the Dead Sea, not only wiping out 100% of… cities and towns, but also stripping agricultural soils from once-fertile fields and covering… Tall el-Hammam—with a super-heated brine of Dead Sea anhydride salts pushed over the landscape by the Event’s frontal shockwave.’
