    I wish I could make it, but vacation time at my work is messed up this year (they are having blackouts for vacation due to training for a new computer system we are going on worldwide), not to mention the cost involved that Flash covered yesterday, and the small fact that I don't have a passport. One used to be able to enter the USA with just a Canadian birth certificate, but 911 screwed that up.

    I do envy those who do make it down there and hang out with Bill. Sounds like a VERY interesting time. I hope there will be pictures and video posted at some point thereafter...that would be awesome.

    I planned to go to the event alone as it was... And was a bit hesitant to go, because I didn't know what I would be doing with myself, being alone .. after hours.. I wanted everyone to know that you were coming to town, because I had hoped that more would come and I would get the opportunity to meet those we speak to on a regular basis... And then be around people, that I can form lasting relationships with. I think it is a WONDERFUL IDEA.. Those who can't do the whole week can do just a few days, or by the day if they choose... And those who want to save money can book rooms and share, (if they think that's appropriate).. to save some money.

    Any Avalonians who live in the neighborhood who could open their house for paying nice nice very nice guests???
    The rooms go up a bit.. And have been daily.. They went from $38 to $49 for single rooms, and are still going up so we need to book early..

    As far as someone renting their houses? THERE ARE house rentals in that area.. that can sleep MANY PEOPLE .. Some up to 10 people each.. and they're online and available for this time frame.. ( I accidentally fell into them when looking up the original details) It would be cheaper than hotel rooms and much more relaxing.. They looked pretty nice actually and I bet we could get one or two for all of us for much less than the hotel fees, and be much happier. Or we can share rooms to save money...

    I found one house, it is 1880 Sq. feet, with a nice pool and outside sitting area.. By the pool... Sleeps 11, and the price for the house for that time period.. March 23rd to April 2nd is $3,485.45.. Per person, (With 10 people) that is under $35 a night.. and that is fees included. I am sure they have smaller places.. But they're there.. This one has enough room to gather us all together as well..

    Just an idea.OR you could share a room with another Avalonian who is going alone..

    That is sad, because you are five hours drive from Montreal, I could have picked you up and we drive the remaining 35 hours of driving lollllll (I bet it would come more expensive than flying)

    Would love to be there but already have a flight to elsewhere and concert tickets booked in March. Would also need more time off from work to make such a long trip. Could we plan something late this year or early next year so there is more time to accrue time and money?

    Very many thanks to all who've posted here, so encouragingly and enthusiastically.

    It really does look like we have a very viable event.

    Here are the poll results so far, after just 36 hours. These numbers will certainly grow.
    • I'll almost certainly find a way to come... I'd move mountains to be there. — 7
    • I'd love to come. I think I can, but I'm just not sure yet. — 18
    • I really doubt if I can make it, but it may be possible. — 6
    • I'd REALLY love to be there, but I already know it's just not possible at all. — 51

    To those who creatively suggested some kind of real-time networking: it's a great idea, but this isn't a formal event with all the administration, tech support, and funds to support all that. It's really just an informal meetup, though I'd definitely repeat my main conference presentation (which will be a good one, all about Project Camelot behind the scenes) and we might have one or two other special features, depending on who else can make it. As Spock is famously supposed to have said (though, sadly, he actually never did!) — It's a Conference, Jim, but not as we know it.

    Here's an important little announcement
    . If anyone can definitely make the dates, wants to be there, and can afford the accommodation etc, but who can NOT afford an internal North American flight... please PM me. We may be able to work something out.

    I'd like to change my vote from the second option to the first, "I'll almost certainly find a way to come... I'd move mountains to be there."

    I can typically take a few days off from work

    And, Bill, you would certainly have a place to stay in SoCal if you so desired for any reason..

    Somebody here suggested sharing Hotel[?] rooms, another seeking P.A. members
    { Visitors too could help-out :-)) Frenchy say's cheekily ! }

    I hope it's relevant for me to share this story... ?
    When booking to attend the https://www.ukcolumn.org/ Telford Conference [2014], I saw that the single rooms were only about £15 less than the Double[Twin-bed} room, so I booked a Twin, anticipating, there might be ppl turning-up at the last-minute, who didn't have a room { For that Conf., they went fast }.

    Not only did I enjoy the Conf.,but
    1 - I witnessed an incredible situ, regarding an attack on an U.K., ' Craft-Recovery Operative ', seeing the Physical attack marks,

    2. I had the experience of understanding more, in respect of M.K. aspects, including witnessing Surveillance by {Who ? }, using the U.K.'s British Gas, utilities , as a cover.... Seeing, at First-hand, the devastating impact on a woman's life, as the D.S. targetted her... { Omni -I feel your pain... }

    I've known a long time that B.T. [ British Telecoms -* The former H.M.'s General Post Office * ] are an arm of the I.S. But British Gas ? { So how many other org's too ? ? }

    But, the idea that Avalons' Guests or visitors, near to the venue, could have an opportunity to help-out, is also a good point. { With of course, safeguards... }

    Hope this all works out....
    If not, I know a bloke with 75 Acres of Rough Pasture, to pitch Tents !

    I have not tried workplace by facebook yet but it should be very easy. I don't think you need any technical support. We can even try it with couple people here before the event, but it is up to you.

    Bill, We should chat, I might be able to provide you with a BRANDED webinar platform for doing live webinars and also for broadcasting ever green videos. Also, living in Scotland I'd love to attend a project avalon conference/get together here in Scotland and also meet Billy, Chris and others

    Food for thought.

    Sounds like fun. I couldn't vote because it said I already had. I'd like to come but you need a passport now to enter the US, I don't have one. Too bad I wasn't coming through the south border...heck could pretty well get free bussing to Vegas by those left wing nutters. Also work is ramping up again.

    Hope it works out for everyone.

    I also would very much enjoy to meet many of you (that is not to say that you would wish to meet me lol ) but I would not be allowed into the US as my government documentation would get me turned round upon landing!

    But I hope that this event occurs and wish all that attend a wonderful experience.

    I like the idea of renting a house if others are open....maybe we can find one that's large enough where we wouldn't have to rent a room for all of us to gather, but rather use the house as our location?

    Ok so who's bringing the 3rd generation night goggles? lol

    EDIT TO ADD:
    This is just an idea of what might be out there:

    https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/2753120...s=1&s=EnfvcLfK

    Whoever is driving could maybe bring as many outdoor chairs as possible? If I drive I could probably bring about 4 to 5 camping chairs.

    Yeah, AirBnB would be the better option, imo. We can all pitch in and rent a house for about the same price per person. And with a kitchen, we could all make communal meals, even. We could bond and be economical!

    I second the motion !

    Renting a house would cut daily expenses and bring people closer together.

    the hotel is 36$ US per night single X 7 = 252$ US
    The $36 rate does not apply everyday. I think it is $99 on weekends. Still the hotel is quite reasonable. I think they are counting on people to drop money in the slot machines.

    If you find a roomate here on Avalon, you can cut your hotel cost in half.
