Protesters demand California Democratic megadonor Ed Buck's arrest amid second man found dead in his apartment

----------- I don't think this need too much explanation -------------

Protests erupted Tuesday outside the West Hollywood home of prominent Democratic donor Ed Buck, with activists calling for Buck's arrest after a man was found dead in the apartment early Monday -- 17 months after a deceased male escort was discovered there.

In July of last year, prosecutors declined to file charges against Buck in the death of Moore. According to a coroner's report, Buck's apartment was full of drug paraphernalia, including 24 syringes containing brown residue, five glass pipes with white residue and burn marks, a plastic straw with possible white residue, clear plastic bags with white powdery residue and a clear plastic bag containing a piece of crystal-like substance.

The Sheriff's Office also said they are now taking a second look at the death of Gemmel Moore -- the male escort whose body was found in Buck's apartment in July 2017 -- in the wake of Monday's discovery.

Here is another take on this:

This seems somewhat premature and with a whiff of lynch mob mentality .You cannot arrest and hold anybody without some sort of evidence that some sort of crime has been committed by them.
If the protestors do not believe that the Sheriffs Office is honest they can surely wait until initial findings are presented .
Anyway , how many protestors were involved ? Were there five but shot CNN style to look like a mob or were there truly many ?

You can tell exactly what this is:

First the news source is fox news. That is your first red flag.

Second, his political affiliations are put like it matters for this case.

Third, they are making this sound like it a million man march on the police department with the implication that the police are protecting this rich dude?

For people who hate the Mainstream media, many people around here sure like fox news.

Two dead men in a year, drug paraphernalia, What else do you need, a confession. Don't understand your logic, this is about the deaths , not the protest. Your complaining about the media coverage and have lost sight of the crimes. You can't see the forest for the trees.

Go to the other source, if you don't like the other one . This happened, research it don't have a knee jerk reaction to it.

Praxis "For people who hate the Mainstream media, many people around here sure like fox news"

You sound like you have a bias.

Once again it's about the crimes not the protest. try this link if you don't like the one you read, there are many to look at.

You need exactly that -- a confession -- or independent hard evidence that acts as its own confession .
The actual and required protest is automatically covered by democratic institutions ----- the Police Department and all the related services .
You don't need people to parade and protest about the deaths per se .
You only need protests when matters are not followed - up properly or where there is evidence that follow - up was insufficient and/or deficient .
Sure this guy looks in deep trouble . But The Rule of Law must be preserved first, second and last .

Why didn't you mention the drugs , the syringes, and the whole quote that I wrote :"Two dead men in a year, drug paraphernalia" were you trying to skew the conversation, that's what main stream media does, I guess you're more like them than you think.

P.S. The evidence is all ready there .... read the articles, there are many. And you must be kidding... "Rule of law must be preserved," what it needs to be is carried out, that is the inference of the article. The rule of law was not carried out because he is a big donner to a political party that controls the state that this happened in ....... GET IT NOW ...

Ramus I get it all . And I mean everything .
The Police Department have opened up first death enquiries .
Time will show whether they made mistakes earlier or whether corruption played a part . i am quite capable of making both obvious and nuanced inferences but it is not our jobs to act as jurors , prosecutors and judge (s) . That is what the Rule Of Law is about -- not behaving like vigilantes , lynch mob members or sometimes dogmatic blind fools . Neither you or I can definitively rule out Professor Plum or the Butler , Mad Axe Man Cedric .

Why on earth do you find that surprising ? We have a hierarchical power and riches structure which is more efficiently handled by authoritarian figures .Albeit primarily for their own benefit .
The on- going battle is to fight for Rule Of Law while fighting against tyranny and corruption . Often the latter win - the bad guys -- and certainly in the short term .
But do you then want to make it easier or harder for them in the future ? That is why the Sheeple must become aware of the facts , get involved and force change through the Rule of Law, wherever and whenever possible . The moment you behave as badly as your oppressors ,you simply become a less efficient version of them .And without moral integrity .imho

2nd man found dead at Democratic donor Ed Buck’s West Hollywood apartment is identified

    https://www.dailynews.com/2019/01/10...is-identified/

"In ruling Moore’s death an accident, the coroner’s office noted that there was drug paraphernalia found in the home, along with sex toys and clear plastic bags containing what was suspected to be methamphetamine, according to a coroner’s report obtained by the Times.

According to the newspaper, the report also noted that somebody at the scene “is suspected to be known to exchange drugs for sex,” but the name was redacted. The report said Moore was found naked on a living room mattress with a “male pornography movie playing on the television,” according to the Times.

Amster has said Buck and Moore were good friends, and told The Times that Buck did not witness Moore injecting drugs the night he died.

Moore’s mother, LaTisha Nixon, continued to push the sheriff’s department to investigate her son’s death. She noted that her son had been living with her in Texas, but Buck bought him a plane ticket to return to Los Angeles, which he did the day he died. According to the Times, Moore had previously been homeless and worked as an escort.

P.S. the coverage is drying up ... go figure ...

https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/p...-his-apartment ... this one has taken down the article

https://www.dailynews.com/2019/01/10...is-identified/ ..... this one is still up with more detail than the first article

    https://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/...109-story.html

Buck, a 64-year-old white man, previously was investigated for the July 2017 death of Gemmel Moore, 26, who died of a methamphetamine overdose in Buck’s apartment, which was littered with drug paraphernalia, according to a Los Angeles County coroner’s report. Prosecutors this summer declined to file charges.

She believes Buck has gotten special treatment because of his activism and fundraising for local Democratic candidates, a charge officials have denied. In the past, he has donated money to President Obama, Hillary Clinton, former state Sen. Kevin de León, U.S. Rep. Ted Lieu, West Hollywood city council candidates and other politicians.

“It’s more than race and class,” Cannick said. “It is also political. This is a man protected by the Democratic Party.”

On Tuesday, Lieu said he donated campaign contributions from Buck to LGBTQ and African American advocacy organizations, including GLAAD and the NAACP.

On Tuesday, Jackie Tepper, who has known Buck for 25 years and lives in the complex next door, stood outside Buck’s building and yelled toward his window: “Shame on you! Shame on you!”

Tepper, a 58-year-old film producer, said she was upset that protesters accused neighbors — who have complained about Buck to authorities and the building manager — of being complicit. She wondered how it would be perceived if neighbors called the cops about black men coming to Buck’s home, citing news stories about mostly white people making racist assumptions about bystanders.

If it walks like a duck quacks like a duck . It's probably not guilty of being a duck because no one witness it being born from ducks.

Activist Jasmyne Cannick has been investigating predator Ed Buck since the first death (of Gemmel Moore) and found evidence he was cruising for new victims while still under investigation for Moore's death. In July 2018, via Twitter, Cannick predicted/warned there'd be another death in Buck's home and unfortunately, she was correct. Unbelievable Buck wasn't even charged with possession of controlled substances when they were clearly strewn about his apartment.

The second gay black man to be found dead inside a Democrat donor's house in 18 months described him as the 'f***ing devil' before his death, it has emerged.

Timothy Dean, who died of an apparent overdose at the West Hollywood home of Ed Buck in January, had been warning friends for months that he was bad news.

DeMarco Majors, who had known Dean for 20 years, claimed to have seen strings of text messages from Buck to Dean trying to get him to go over to his house, which Dean had been ignoring.

'Don’t you go over there,' Majors recalls 55-year-old Dean telling him in November last year. 'I'm not going over there either. S***, I’m not trying to end up dead.'
Timothy Dean, 55, painted Democrat donor Ed Buck as a dangerous predator in conversations with five friends before he was found dead at Buck's home last month

Dean described Buck (pictured), who he had known for years, as 'the f***ing devil' and a 'horrible, horrible man', his friends claimed

But two months later, Dean did go over to Buck's house and was found dead on January 7. Majors told the Daily Beast that he has no idea what changed Dean's mind.

In total, five of Dean's friends who claimed to have known him for decades spoke to the Beast, all of whom said Dean was fearful of Buck and described him as predatory.

Walter Harris said Dean had gotten involved with Buck years ago and their relationship involved lots of 'odd behaviors' - such as Buck's insistence that he wear white long johns - that bothered Dean.

But things changed in 2017 after 26-year-old Gemmel Moore was found dead at Buck's home.

After that, Harris said that Dean became afraid of Buck and 'didn't want nothing to do with [him]', Harris said.

In text conversations with multiple friends in which they discussed Moore's dead, Dean described him as a 'horrible, horrible man', 'the f***ing devil', and mused 'this might be it for Ed Buck'.

In the end, no charges were filed against Buck after Moore's death, though the investigation has been reopened since Dean died.

Speaking about Dean's death, Buck's lawyers say that Dean reached out to him while going through a hard time.

They say Dean and Buck had been friends for years and that Dean had arrived at his house high on drugs, while Buck was trying to get him clean.

Buck's attorneys refute claims that Buck had been reaching out to Dean, and say Dean was the one to make contact.

They also point to the existence of text messages which they say show Dean was living a 'secret life' that his friends were not aware of.

'That is as far as we will go with what we and law enforcement possess,' lawyer Seymour Amster told Fox.

'If this matter ends up in a courtroom, and that is a big "IF" we will then decide if it is necessary to disclose Mr. Dean's secret life.'

Police have yet to file charges over Dean's death

Dean worked at Saks Fifth Avenue was a member of the National Gay Basketball Association and of One LA - a religious group - prior to his death.

But before working in retail and pre-baptism, Dean was actually known in the gay porn industry as a dominant top named Hole Hunter.

According to the Internet Adult Film Database, Dean had been starring in gay adult films from as early as 2007 up until 2016.

Some of the films include: Dark Chocolate Cravings 2 (2007), Black on Boys 4-8 (2011-2015) and Interracial Public Pickups 3 (2016).

Another man - Jermaine Gagnon - told DailyMail TV how Buck paid to fly him from Minnesota to Los Angeles, drugged him with a substance dissolved in Gatorade then injected him with crystal meth at his West Hollywood apartment.

The 28-year-old shared pictures which show Buck, wearing white long johns, crouched over him on the mattress of a pullout bed during one of their nights together, as well as the 'toolbox' of sex toys he produced during their encounter.

Jermaine Gagnon, 28, also claimed to have been paid to spend the night at Buck's house and said he feared he would die after being injected with crystal meth

Buck has been plagued with accusations that he preyed on vulnerable black men after inviting him back to his home in West Hollywood

Gagnon said that he feared he would die after being injected with meth, as his body went numb and he fell in and out of consciousness.

Buck's attorney, Seymour Amster, declined to comment on Gagnon's allegations when contacted by DailyMailTV but questioned why Gagnon didn't contact the police at the time.

He added: 'We see no reason to respond to unverified accusations from individuals just trying to seek attention.'

Buck is a prominent Democratic donor gave to Clinton and posed with former California governor Jerry Brown.

Buck has also faced protests outside his apartment over the deaths, which his attorney has denied he had any part in, claiming he opened his door to 'vulnerable' people in bad circumstances to try to help them.

The District Attorney's office and Sheriff's Department have also come in for criticism for failing to properly investigate Buck after Moore died.

At the time of Moore's death the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office decided not to prosecute Buck, saying there was 'insufficient [evidence] to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that [Buck] is responsible for the death of Gemmel Moore.'
Since Dean's death protesters have gathered outside Buck's home demanding that a proper investigation is held

Since Dean's death protesters have gathered outside Buck's home demanding that a proper investigation is held

The DA's Office said: 'Likewise, the admissible evidence is insufficient to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that suspect Buck furnished drugs to Gemmel Moore or that suspect Buck possessed drugs.'

In February of last year Moore's family published pages from his diary in which he alleged that it was Buck who first introduced him to narcotics.

These revelations prompted the LASD to reopen its investigation into Buck but that too was closed until this week.

Since the investigation was launched, a number of other men of color have come forward to claim political power player Buck, who is single and came out as gay at 16, paid them to take drugs.

The coroner's report, from July 31, 2017, noted that investigators spoke with a woman who knew Moore, who said that the prostitute had told her about another man he knew that had been tied up by Buck 'over a year ago', who then 'held him against his will at the residence in West Hollywood.'

The report also stated that Buck's apartment was full of drug paraphernalia including dozens of syringes containing brown residue, five glass pipes with white residue, several baggies of white power, and a bag of a 'crystal-like' substance, such as crystal meth.

Pages from Moore's personal journal allege that Buck had a strange fascination with watching others take drugs, and had even supplied him his first hit of crystal meth.

Buck has given $47,427.50 to Democrat campaigns, according to Federal Election Commission figures, including Clinton, Barack Obama, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and many others.

He became a successful businessman, pioneering in computer technology, specifically in electronic information services, in Arizona before moving to Los Angeles.

A one-time registered Republican, Buck began getting involved in Southern California Democratic politics in the early 1990s.

Dem Donor Ed Buck Arrested After 3rd Man’s Overdose, Charged With Operating West Hollywood Drug House

Prosecutors said Buck injected the victim with methamphetamine at his apartment in the 1200 block of Laurel Avenue in West Hollywood on Sept. 11. The victim suffered an overdose, but survived.

Buck is known as an animal-rights and LGBTQ activist who has donated to Democratic politicians and once ran for West Hollywood City Council, however past incidents strikingly similar to Wednesday's overdose have put Buck at the center of investigations.

This most recent incident marks the third time a man suffered a methamphetamine overdose at Buck's West Hollywood apartment. The previous two victims did not survive.

The first man, 26-year-old Gemmel Moore, died on July 27, 2017. Prosecutors cited insufficient evidence in declining to press charges against Buck in connection with Moore's death, which was ruled an accidental methamphetamine overdose.

A second man, 55-year-old Timothy Dean, died of methamphetamine and alcohol toxicity on Jan. 7. Dean's autopsy report said he died at least 15 minutes before anyone called 911. That death was also ruled accidental.

Court documents filed on Tuesday portray Buck as a "violent, dangerous sexual predator," who uses the bait of drugs, money, and shelter to lure men struggling with addiction and homelessness into his home, where he "manipulates them into participating in his sexual fetishes."

    That's a boring story.
When you are one step ahead of the crowd, you are a genius.
Two steps ahead, and you are deemed a crackpot.

Officials detail drug overdose case against political donor

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Gemmel Moore had moved back home with his mother in Texas two years ago and was missing Los Angeles when he texted a photo of syringe in an arm to a wealthy gay man he knew in California.

Ed Buck, an influential political activist more than twice Moore’s age, later replied: “Be here now.”

Buck bought a plane ticket for Moore and had a car pick him up a week later at the airport. By sunset, Moore, 26, would be dead on a mattress on the floor of Buck’s Los Angeles-area home.

Federal prosecutors released new details Thursday as they charged Buck, 65, with distributing methamphetamine resulting in Moore’s death on July 27, 2017.

A criminal complaint and accompanying affidavit detailed multiple allegations that Buck injected men with meth against their wishes during sexual encounters.

The investigation found at least 10 alleged victims, several of whom described in salacious detail Buck’s apparent fetish to pay men to use drugs and have sex, which often took a dark turn and led to several suspected overdoses.

Messages to Buck’s attorney, Seymour Amster, were not immediately returned.

Even after another man, Timothy Dean, died of an overdose at Buck’s home in January, the Democratic donor continued to solicit men for sex and drug use until last week, when another man who overdosed managed to escape as Buck tried to stop him from leaving, authorities said.

Both men who died were black. Buck, who is white, was not charged for more than two years after Moore’s death, and critics have questioned if wealth, race or political ties influenced the investigation.

Buck has donated tens of thousands of dollars to California candidates, including Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, and is well known in LGBTQ political circles.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Jackie Lacey, who is black and charged Buck this week with running a drug house, rejected the notion that there was any favoritism based on campaign donations.

“We were not at all moved by his reputation,” Lacey said.

U.S. Attorney Nick Hanna said Buck preyed on homeless and other vulnerable men and is a “serious threat to public safety.”

Authorities said Buck used his position of power to manipulate men into participating in sexual fantasies that involved injecting meth.

Male prostitutes knew Buck’s habit for paying in cash and drugs and some referred to him as Dr. Kevorkian, an apparent reference to Jack Kevorkian, a doctor who went to prison for helping patients end their lives.
