The Heart of water
These villagers in Guatamala have created a virtual oasis for themselves by embracing the wisdom of their ancestral knowledge.
"Perennial resilience" was a term I had never heard before
The villagers grow cash crops of watercress - The watercress itself has been a blessing because it has grown as a by-product of water and their terraced and aquatic water systems.
The watercress naturally seeded itself into the water system; there wasn't an initial planting and establishing of the crop. In other words, it grows like a weed.
The watercress crops have been very low maintenance (watercress is also an amazing detoxifier for the body) and it even filters the water as it runs through the aquatic systems!
