Default Anyone got experience of the NEW opera browser with built in VPN?

On their site, Opera states it is now offering...

a Free VPN in the Opera browser - surf the web with enhanced privacy.

Opera is the first and still only major browser that integrates a free, unlimited VPN service, allowing you to focus on the content that matters without fear of losing privacy.

Anyone got any experience of it, and is it secure offering full privacy?

An interesting definition of a VPN from https://www.webopedia.com/TERM/V/VPN.html is -

"A virtual private network (VPN) is a network that is constructed using public wires — usually the Internet — to connect remote users or regional offices to a company's private, internal network.

A VPN secures the private network, using encryption and other security mechanisms to ensure that only authorized users can access the network and that the data cannot be intercepted. This type of network is designed to provides a secure, encrypted tunnel in which to transmit the data between the remote user and the company network."

Sounds interesting, then again I'm sure the NSA and other agencies can track everything we do whether we use a VPN (virtual private network) or not.

What's your thoughts on this over CHROME or Microsoft Edge...?

I did briefly use the Tor Browerser, which had something like VPN. This was NOT good for accessing sites like online banking, where the software demands to know where you are.

On the other hand, VPN is excellent for accessing Torrents from places like Pirate Bay. If (in the U.S at least) your internet service catches you accessing torrents, they will suspend your service.

I haven't had a chance to look at the specifics of what Opera is offering, but this sounds like only your browsing would be on a VPN, your downloads, like torrents, iTunes, etc, would not.

Alphabets cannot crack everything. They only want you to think that they can. And they are most successful triggering the almost inherited paranoia of the security freak inside us all. Do they even have to try hard ?
