Default Seems I am not allowed to watch Youtube videos

I have not been able to watch any youtube videos for about a week now.
It keeps tell me to log in, which it had never before. I never put videos on youtube, only go there to watch....is anyone else having problems watching or have I been banned from watching.

If I hit the login button it ask for a lot of personal info
like my address, my name, etc. I've never been a member of Youtube, nor have I ever had to log in to watch videos.

    Is Google after me....

Yes. google is after you. Turn off all equipment and grab a roll of aluminum foil. LOL. Just kidding! Try resetting your computer and your router. You do not have to log in to watch YouTube.

Do NOT reply to any requests for info! YouTube does not ask for your physical address. You may want to run antivirus tosoftware to be sure. Sounds like a phishing attack?

And if anyone calls you on the phone claiming to be Microsoft? Hang up! It’s a scam.

I can think of several things to do or check here, but first on the list have to be
    1. Turn off your computer and restart.
    2. If you still have the problem, clear your browser cache of all data. If you're using Firefox (depending on what version you have), go to Firefox (the menu heading at the top left) > Preferences > Privacy & Security (a tab on the left, marked with a little padlock icon) > Cookies and Site Data > then click the button which says Clear Data. (Or in an older version, 'Clear Cache' may be in the Advanced tab. It's there somewhere, even if you're using a different browser.)
A 'cache' is just a way that data, or instructions, are kept on your own computer, by a browser that's dumbly trying to help you.

For instance, it remembers where you've been or what you've done, so next time you go there or do that it'll all be a little faster.

But it can also make mistakes sometimes, and when that happens, you have to empty, or 'clear', the cache, which is like wiping its little memory clean.

If these weird things happen, that's always a simple thing to try. No harm at all can come by doing that, as it then rebuilds itself soon after, maybe in a more rational way.

    Sadieblue-

You wrote “ If I hit the log in button”.

Now that I have actually thought about this, do NOT hit the log in button- that is only for people who have created YouTube accounts. You need to hit the “search” button. Looks like a magnifying glass.

Have you ever had a Google email address or profile on the Google homepage? I ask because Google is revamping their site, and as such they're deleting pages and many other things.. If you tend to use youtube and you DO have a Google account, you have to log in to post comments or anything else.

When Google recently updated their site, they deleted a lot, and this requires that people log back in. If you have not done this, this may be your problem. It may be recognizing that you have a GOOGLE ACCOUNT yet you are not logged into it..

It my just be a glitch but it is worth checking.. I know I can't post a comment on youtube without being signed into my Google account. Not youtube, but Google itself..

While this isn't required to watch youtube videos, because they're updating it, they may be using that to force you to go update their new agreements and such..

It's a guess, but it may help.

I use a VPN and have Firefox set to delete all cookies on exit. Recently youtube says "You're not logged in," as soon as I hit the webpage, but I can still watch videos. I suspect you're not deleting your cookies. Have no doubt, though, youtube is upping the pressure to get people to log in, and they are also trying to transition to a subscription "no ads" site.

    I agree with Tomkat,
I think the reasoning is, they can't spy on you as easily, until you log in ;-)

    Side Notes:

On a somewhat related note- I've noticed my iPhone keeps trying to trick me into using the iCloud. F the cloud... no thank you lol

Windows 7 is being discontinued in 2020.... and from what I know of Windows 10.... I am very nervous. Pretty sure Windows 10 keeps a bunch of your stuff in the cloud, whether you want it to or not. Especially if you log into windows using your Outlook account.

Try to watch a video via the DuckDuckGo home page.

Default Re: Seems I am not allowed to watch Youtube videos

I have been having a lot of conflicts, not only with the sites on my laptop, but in getting my iphone and laptop to sync. My laptop is aging and while I have been keeping up with updates with both the software and operating system, the new updates are finally progressing at the point where I can't update my laptop to run them at all.. So I am now facing the same issues...

There is about 2 hours everyday when Avalon refuses to load, as well as youtube, but everything else works fine.. (Which is very peculiar to me).. So I sit there for 2 hours trying to reopen these two things.. Resetting everything, clearing everything.. But it only resolves when it wants to.. So I am thinking it is my carrier, Comcast that is causing the problems.. I get so mad, I can be in the middle of a post, and I get booted from Avalon, and have to rewrite everything because I hit "Send" and it failed. . But they eventually start working again.. (Knowing I didn't change anything) .. I find myself writing something, selecting it all, copying it before I click share, and HOPING that it goes through.

It is possible your provider may be having issues as well.. So don't lose hope just yet lol...

Google's having issues too. They're in the process of revamping some stuff.
I test my webpage, and it fails a few tests.
I test the exact same webpage again a few minutes later, passes the tests.
About a week ago I was getting different results on google.ca as google.com

Sadie is able to watch Youtube videos, just not on Youtube's website, from the sound of it. That's a really weird issue, and if I had to guess, I'd say something might be interfering with the web browser. If it was my problem, I'd try uninstalling and re-installing the whole web browser.

Okay! Well, it's all very interesting. It's some kind of weird setting, for sure. No-one's spying on you. (Well, not any more than usual!)

The next step to help those here try to offer any kind of diagnosis — and cure! — would be to take screenshots of what you're seeing there.

There are various ways of doing that, depending on your operating system. But of course, you could always simply take a photo of the screen. You can upload an image here as an attachment (see this FAQ about how to do that: How do I embed an image in a post?) — or e-mail the image(s) to me, and I'll happily do that for you.

Burn yourself a Linux Mint live DVD, boot to it, and try youtube without windows. If it works you'll know you have to reinstall windows -- or just stick with Linux

Well I have Vivaldi browser on my PC, so tried watching videos from
the Youtube site, and bingo.....they played just fine. So now at least I can watch.

I was using google chrome...and with that browser they would not play.

Well I just tried to watch again from google chrome, and now
the vids are playing from there too, may have been google for the past three days, or could have been my provider which is Spectrum. This is really weird.

I get this Popup all the time among others...I have to klick away... It is just bothering....

..there is one special one I often get, which is just driving me nuts..the video stops and stops and then a add pops up asking : do you have interruptions watching this video? Klick here and find out why.....

So this is done on purpose...it is part of this add...

And I guess I am only allowed to watch certain videos on youtube??? Or did you also recognize while searching there.....when you scroll down ....it is always the same videos coming up and up again?

It repeats....this is how it is for me...for a while already.

So it is limited on how many videos are there in the search result.

It used to be different. And I did recognize also....the more older ones (which are often the better ones) are very hard to find by now...even if you still partly remember the titel....
