Default Diversity is *Not* Strength (Identity Politics)

The mantra at the forefront of Identity Politics says that Diversity is Strength. It isn't. We are naturally diverse as individuals, and that's a good thing, a necessary evolutionary thing. It ensures that vibrant cultural richness and a multiplicity of ideas and viewpoints are upheld and carried forward, as well as a healthy genepool. Diversity is good, but it isn't that which makes us strong. Humanity finds its greatest strength, and acquires its greatest power, through cohesion. Cohesion is therefore true strength, not diversity.

Diversity = difference. And when you push, pedal, and promote differences, you fracture cohesion. Breaking it, and us, into separate parts. This is where Identity Politics becomes thoroughly destructive. In generating this mindset, even in light of its surface benefits (acceptance, tolerance, inclusivity), the marginalization of one group or another invariably results. One "identity" gets smothered by another. All gay people were once together, and now, in many instances, they stand apart. Gay men against gay women, gay men and gay women against trans people (who stole their thunder), and even gay black men against gay white men... It never ends.

Identity Politics emerged at a time of great social upheaval. It was long overdue, but at last black people got equal rights, women were liberated, and homosexuality was decriminalised. But then it changed. Identity Politics grew shoots, multiplied, and mutated like a virus. New groups and identities were created (invented), new abbreviations and acronyms sprang into being. And with each new subdivision, people grew more and more estranged from their fellow human being.

Identity Politics pretty much takes top billing these days in the political conversation. But why? I think most of us on PA are aware enough and savvy enough to detect an insidious agenda at work here. Maybe it's because, so long as we're busy fighting amongst ourselves, we're not fighting them, the Powers That Be. This is a matrix of control, and social engineering par excellence, make no mistake. To divide, or to diversify, is to conquer (the social fabric). In my opinion, Diversity is only Strength in the same way that War is Peace, or Freedom is Slavery, from 1984 by George Orwell.

This ideology wants to remind us that we're all different, to focus on that perceived difference, even construct our entire reality around it. In politicizing diversity, and making movements out of it, all we see, and shall continue to see, is the further breaking of bonds between people. The true message should really be the opposite: no, we're not all different, we're all One.

Thank you for starting this thread, Star Mariner.

I've had to read your post over a few times, and will need a good think on it.

My initial thought was when did we allow this to happen.

There was a time when diversity was celebrated...unity through diversity was the mantra. The town I live in had a Diversity Day each summer where food from each culture was brought and tasted, native cultural music was played, and 'religious' services in native languages were offered to those who were interested. Rather than division, we were brought closer together through sharing our stories and history. Understanding each others culture helped us to understand each other better. The differences were in nurture...not in nature...by things we had no control over. On the inside, we were looking to the same future...of peace, love and unity together.

Now I ask myself, when did we stop celebrating Diversity Day...and why. How did we allow this to happen?

    Much food for thought.

It's a mixed bag, I de facto work in a foreign nation, which is somewhat adverse to me personally, and difficult to communicate with, and therefor a much poorer environment than one where "everyone looks and talks like me". I had a community, but, it's gone, and won't be coming back, since those of others have swamped it.

In old times, it was a strategy called miscegenation, to wipe out a culture not by straight genocide, but by overpowering it and breeding it out. As examples, Israel was miscegenated by Assyria, and Judea was miscegenated by Edom. Therefor neither one actually continued.

I personally love cross-cultural trade of music and food and that kind of thing, but, it should be that when entering a "different house"...it's different. There is still some kind of border and if I cross it, I need to respect the fact. This, I think, is much different than crunching everyone together in one room. You can't "make a team" by casting them into this new fate and assuming it will go well. People will pretend it does, but, forced mixing seems a bit unhealthy to me. Both extremes are perhaps undesirable, whether as a shut-in racist monoculture, or as a blend of watered-down non-culture.

Politics is mostly a pack of lies wrapped up in an advertisement, and our weakness is to sit there and grin while these regimes do whatever they can get away with. In the OP, if you talk about "gay", this simply meant "happy", at least up until the time it was used that way in the Flintstones' theme song (1960s). Were most gays happy back then...no, probably not...so why even this single word has been re-invented and twisted around, I have no clue. What plane dropped "the bomb"...Enola Gay wasn't it? Are we now saying it was homosexual tendencies that attempted genocide on Japan?

Fluff usually has top bill in the political arena since if you present a real issue, those buffoons are unable to speak, they will stall and crash and get someone else to churn more fluff to get rid of you. They do have a device to split families and add stress by commutes, long hours, rules on child care including kidnapping them if you sneeze funny, those are all wear-down tactics and it works. It largely seems to function based from the assumption you should work full-time for someone else, since the real estate game makes housing so expensive that there is little choice. This is a manufactured situation. A ridiculous charge just for being on earth.

Quote Feminism, Misogyny, and Racism, are Symptoms of the Same Mental Illness Caused by the NWO System Brainwashing
    by Marco Amaya

    https://steemit.com/psychology/@marc...m-brainwashing

Feminism and misogyny is ultimately a war between genders, and racism is a war between skin colors, a war against love.

I can remember the seeds of modern feminism being planted into children since I was a kid in 1st grade through middle school and high school. I would hear many times, "Boys are so stupid" with supportive laughter, it sounds a like a joke but these jokes are supported by the controlled mainstream media in repetition to the point where women begin to believe this to be the truth over time. Generalization of an entire group of people is neglecting the vast variety of intelligence within the group being judged so therefore generalization is never accurate, thats why racism and masculine superiority falls into the same illness as feminine superiority. I'm not talking about feminism in the past that fought to gain women's equal rights like voting, I'm talking about modern feminism which is based on finding superiority over men while at the same time pretending to be victims of men, an insecure inferiority complex, similar to the group "black lives matter" that says all blacks are victims (assumes inequality) and all whites have to pay for all the damages of slavery which was conducted by less than 2% of the entire white population in America in the mid 1800s, black lives matter fuels hatred not love and now colleges and universities are creating segregated dorms for different races which is contradictory to ending racism, because they are fueling racism and inequality, not equality. Fighting for equality by demanding inequality is a contradiction. Men have also been sometimes falsely accused of rape because women are told that men will always take advantage of them sexually even if the woman had consented to sex. Feminism is actually a class in college to brainwash women on topics like this. Here's a link to an article about [racially] segregated dorms:https://www.thecollegefix.com/cal-st...lack-students/

Women always hear about how they develop faster than men, physically, which is generally true, in teenage years but some women extend this logic for the rest of their life to believe that men are never developed in comparison to women, mentally and emotionally, because of mainstream media brainwashing. Men are also brainwashed by the mainstream media to look at women as sexual objects like most pop rappers and singers do, calling them "hoes and bitches" along with music videos, movies, and shows that also portray women this way, as sexual objects or prostitutes, and also as "gold-diggers" that only want men for their money, social status, and physical appearance, this media is jammed into the brains of children and adults, both males and females, to focus on the manipulated 3-dimensional reality of materialism, rather than focusing on higher spiritual perspectives, like the "content of their character" as Martin Luther King Jr. would say, which is what actually matters because we are all life as ONE together with nature and the universe, regardless of colors and genders. The mainstream media is forgetting this, purposefully, it's no coincidence that MLK and Gandhi were killed for these views. Some brainwashed women have even assumed and adopted the role of a "gold-digging" sexual object as the mainstream media depicts women to be. So, when women are manipulated to look down at men, and men are manipulated to look down at women, then we have the dysfunction and lack of harmony between men and women usually starting in the teenage years.

Is it a coincidence that divorce rates are skyrocketing? Families are being destroyed? Not at all, considering the mainstream media and education that influences many people. Broken families have negative psychological effects on the development of children that live in dysfunctional families with only a mom or only a dad, as well as having parents that are both gone most of the time because they're slaves to their careers or jobs and making money. When people choose their partner based only on shallow criteria like physical appearance, social status, or money, they are very likely to be disappointed and unfulfilled by their choices and they will wonder why, because the media had always said it was the right way. But the mainstream media has an agenda.

One agenda is money, money, money. Men are told that without money, there are no women. Women are told to look for men with money or make money themselves as a priority. This leads to the slavery of humans desperately finding ways to make money even it means sacrificing everything else, even their morality, to get money because their minds have been conditioned that with money, you will find love and all your dreams will come true. The system has been corrupted and that's why we see the problems we see today. Nothing is what it seems to be when we're growing up, most things have been turned upside down. Men are being told to look at women only sexually, and women are being told that they are better than men, this fuels both feminism and misogyny, because the mentality of it is based on the DIFFERENCES and expanding the differences, and not the SIMILARITIES of men and women. This leads to DIVISION and not UNITY. It causes various mental and spiritual illnesses when men give up on women, and women give up on men, such as mass loneliness, depression, empty relationships based on sex often called "open relationships", cheating and lack of loyalty, divorces, suicides, sexual assaults, addiction to drugs and alcohol, confusion, masturbation, obsession with pornography, and resorting to homosexuality in some cases because they have given up on the opposite gender. There are natural physical differences in the minds and bodies of men and women, but it is meant to serve the natural order of balance to create harmony and children, which continues the existence and growth of the human race and life. There is no spiritual difference. One gender is never superior to another, only the illusion of superiority and inferiority causes chaos and hatred like feminism and misogyny which is based on misunderstandings and systematic brainwashing that ultimately results in chaos and hatred, a war between the genders, just like racism is an illusion of superiority and inferiority. We are still ONE together as an organism. We're an organism inside of an organism (Earth), inside of another organism (solar system), inside of galaxy, inside of a universe, etc.

Feminism, misogyny, and racism are all manipulations of the human mind conducted by social engineers directing mainstream media propaganda and the controlled education made to suppress and manipulate knowledge. It is meant to destroy the essence of True Love. Love is to set aside all differences and love each other for who we are as a full human being beyond the 3-dimensional viewpoint as well as loving other life forms. Human beings are beyond 3 dimensions but the mainstream control grid brainwashes people into thinking that what we see with our limited human eyes, is all there is. Can we see radio waves? No, can we see positive and negative energy? No, we feel it, but positive and negative energy does have a large effect on the 3 dimensions which are all expressions of energy. The human eye only sees a fraction of the universe.

It is the SIMILARITIES BETWEEN US that we should focus on, because after all, the future of the human race depends on Love, not hatred or division which is the opposite of love and unity. Love creates children, good art, promotes truth and creates meaningful jobs, it is the essence and basis of all life in the universe. The mainstream system bias towards destroying the essence of Love, comes from the virus that controls the media and education to do this more and more, the virus that produces hate, war, disease, mental illness, and poverty in the world. We must be aware of this force in order to know how to combat it and live free from its mental and spiritual manipulation and find True Love in our life which is not based on money. Money is just a piece of paper, or electronic digital numbers on a computer screen, that humans are trained to be slaves to, money is not even close to being as important as Love. By understanding the underlying nature and cause of feminism, misogyny, and racism, it reveals the negative nature of it that produces problems because of its lack of unity, and also how it is based on ignorance. UNITY is a basic aspect of True Love.

True Love is the answer to the world's problems because it is the opposite of war. Feminism and misogyny is ultimately a war between genders, and racism is a war between skin colors. Love is the solution to war. Love is peace.
    From comments:
Quote Identity politics (feminism and some racism) are driven by cultural marxism. the most vocal proponent of this propaganda is Herbert Marcuse , one of the most prolific of New Left ideologues.

    Herbert Marcuse and cultural Marxism
I agree fully with this assessment. Cultural Marxism is a honeytrap (a very sophisticated one); but its victims are often those who experience legitimate marginalization. So the problem is, in my view, the critical examination of Cultural Marxism in a very real way is also a criticism of those who unknowingly jump on board with only good intentions to advance the equality of women and minorities. Unfortunately, pointing out the honey trap also exacerbates the divisions. No one wants to be lectured that they are being duped, especially when they have good intentions.

It's so very important to raise awareness of the agenda underlying cultural Marxism without unintentionally employing it as a tacit apology for legitimate racism and sexism. It's a slippery slope.

thanks for opening up this discussion star mariner.

i think i would say *forced* diversity isn't strength. but i do understand why it is encouraged sometimes.

nuanced topic. exclusivity certainly isn't the solution either.

devil's advocate here: ever since the jordan peterson phenomena began, we've been having this conversation about identity politics. what are "identity politics"? without looking it up, it would seem to be that it is a term used to describe a group or groups of people who use sex and race and sexual orientation to curry favor and/or use victimhood to push forward various agendas.

and there is certainly some of that going on.

other concepts that peterson has introduced to the mass consciousness are:
1)equality of outcome: tyrannically forcing equity amongst people of all races and sex and sexual orientation in the workplace, universities, athletics, clubs, groups, so forth.
2)equality of opportunity: giving everyone the same opportunities and the freedom to choose

2 seems the reasonable route, but what if certain groups aren't getting equal opportunity? what then???

well, then they are forced to play "identity politics" because their group or groups have been unfairly treated and discriminated against.

to play devil's advocate here again, it appears some folks are forced to play identity politics as a result of various institutions identifying them solely as their group...be it color, sex, sexual orientation etc

they may not be getting "equal opportunity" and therefore have no choice but to stand up for themselves. when they do, they are ridiculed and their movement slapped with accusatory labels, like "identity politics".

sometimes it seems like an underhanded and sneaky way of using language to suggest something noble is instead sinister and agenda-driven.

take race, for example. when this argument is made against someone like a ben shapiro or a crowder or whoever, they will generally jump in and demand stats and pie charts and study results proving that discrimination exists..as if something like racism would be overtly written into legislation

in the words of comic bill burr: "..real racism is quiet, it's subtle...people look around first, make sure the coast is clear....there's disclaimers involved, like "you know i'm not racist but (fill in group name followed by f#cked up conversation)..that's how it goes down

he goes on: (paraphrase)..."there's not gonna be any white guys standing up in a swimming pool saying, "...there's negros in the pool!! does anyone approve of this?? i work down the street at the bank...can i get fired immediately please!"

    T. Smith's last paragraph sums up very coherently my feelings as well:
Quote It's so very important to raise awareness of the agenda underlying cultural Marxism without unintentionally employing it as a tacit apology for legitimate racism and sexism. It's a slippery slope.

The difference is that the media does not talk about the difference between opportunity and outcome, they are purposefully silent which allows the interpretation to be whatever the listener perceived.

If certain groups aren’t getting equal opportunity, then they need to understand the problem at a deeper level. The media misdirects where the actual discrimination is coming from, and it’s not coming from Jordan Peterson et al.

There’s a large community here that investigates these conspiracies, but people are too brainwashed to find common purpose.

Here’s an article on equality, and how problematic such a potentially good thing is, equality of opportunity, when it is polarized and weaponized into equality of outcome.

Quote Equality is a bad word
    By James True

    https://www.jtrue.com/blog/equality-is-a-bad-word

Equality is a bad word. It sounds weird to consider but words can be judged good or bad by a simple mathematical formula. Prana is lifeforce. Does a word extract or install prana after hearing it? How does it affect your prana to hear “economic equality?” Racial equality? Gender equality? A deficit of equality enlists injustice while a profit in equality enlists guilt.‬ Equality is a machine that harvests sympathy for power. This is a machine of self-evacuation. Once the self is gone, the victim is willing to join the hive. It won’t matter what color or side, they just don’t want to feel alone anymore. This is the essence of communism.

Equality was invented by psychopaths who pretend everyone needs their help. They insist help only comes from a centralized power that becomes generous and kind despite the evil required to win control. Equality insists it can only pay after it controls every piece. Equality insists this is the only solution. Equality is a trap for gullible people who think blind empathy is kindness. Blind empathy is what got us here to begin with. Equality is a trap for fools who don’t learn history. It’s a philosophy of fear that requires a scapegoat to bring everyone together for a witch burning. Three words say it all, “Eat the rich.”

A friend from childhood spends his days fighting oppression on a white collar college campus under the corporate flag of Black Lives Matter. He’s empowered by the solace of racial oppression. I knew him as a boy. To watch him now fully invested reminds me of the true power of mind control. He is convinced equality is the answer. He calls me an ignorant Nazi because I don’t agree with him. He calls anyone who doesn’t agree his enemy. 100 million dead from communism isn’t enough. He needs more bodies before he will reconsider. He’d rather punch Nazis in a pro-wrestling ring before looking at the promoters. This is the cancer of anger misdirected. We become trapped in the Hegelian dialectic. My friend hates my telling of the truth. He calls “mind control” bull**** and thinks himself immune from groupthink. He does this after shouting a corporate motto from MSM. Narratives and psyops are designed for the brainwashed who think themselves too clever. Mind control supersedes intelligence. Mind control is the constriction and release of dopamine by an authority.

Equality does not exist in nature. It’s the invention of the hotdog factory where every weiner comes out the same. Man is pulverized and extruded into a shrink-wrapped package and stacked neatly on a pallet. There is a shiny sheen to equality as it grinds liberty into a wax sleeve. I don’t want a hotdog world. No self-empowered person would want that. Most of the history of Bolshevism was left out of schoolbooks in high school. Most of the killings and death brought on by equality are ignored in college. The French Revolution failed because of its insistence on equality. The American revolution succeeded because of its insistence on liberty. Colleges won’t tell this truth anymore. Colleges say Mark Twain is racist. Colleges want equality, not discernment. Colleges want every book to have exactly 200 pages.

Equality insists everyone with a penis has an advantage on everyone with a vagina. It insists every white man is here to suppress the black ones. Equality is a narrative of the narcissist to set up a victim paradigm to justify oppression. Equality is cannibalism and we will chew off each other’s feet insisting it makes us feel better. Equality is mind control.

Most minds won’t consider ideas outside of their programming. This is the purpose of programming. It keeps us in our lane. Prana constriction is vital to mind control. When we get sick it weakens the lifeforce and we feel threatened. When we are self-empowered it grows our energy and we become more compassionate. Pain makes us selfish. Abundance makes us generous. Our government uses mind control to suppress our prana. This makes us malleable to bad ideas like centralized power and communism. If my friend truly believed there was injustice in the world he would find a lawyer and fight for a person, not a color or genital. Lawyers love to litigate and social justice is a lawsuit away. But equality is a religious cult of oppression. It requires oppression to remain. Without it, there is no glue holding the congregation together. This is the foundation of communism and equality. My old friend is a shepherd pretending to be a revolutionary. He never once considered equality could be a bad thing.

My new book Blueprints for Mind Control is on shelves now!
I would take this one step further. Those indoctrinated by the dogma of equality and all its fixings not only maintain little capacity to critically consider this type of analysis, they likely are unable to comprehend it. This has nothing to do with intelligence, per se, but rather, similar to operant-conditioning hypnosis, which trains the mind to associate A with B (regardless if such association exists, e.g., a bell rings, you drool, etc.,), advancing this kind of argument, A, will trigger the ideologically possessed to elicit a specific response, B. Moreover, the program itself has a very neat protection mechanism built into it; it creates an immunity to reason and logic that might otherwise serve to challenge or unravel the program. My very real question is, what is the point of this type of eloquence?

Shame on you, Joe. Anyone advancing this nonsense is clearly racist and is merely protecting their White Male Privilege

All said, the challenge for those of us who understanding the power of mind control, I believe, is to develop an antidote to the protection mechanism itself. These are not hard concepts to understand. But one has to seek a way through a back-door in the program for any of the seeds to bear fruit in the hearts and minds of those hypnotized; that's why people like Candance Owens and Milo Yiannopoulos are so dangerous to the cause and so feared and despised among the ideologically possessed.

I believe diversity should be celebrated. It is with adversity that we grow, learn patience, understanding, and we can then pick and choose what we wish to become or how we wish to live our lives. It is when anyone determines that an anomaly is a "defect" in some way, or that their differences clash with the rigid status quo that we run into problems.

So in many ways, I not only see this as a Strength, but one of our strongest ones..

I agree. Four eyes see better than two, and even two eyes have slightly different perspectives, although belonging to the same person.

It might be helpful (to many reading this) to define the generalities a little further.

    I'll be specific here.

I'm glad that the Portuguese are different from the Spanish, who are different from the French, who are different from the Italians.

I'm glad the English are different from the Scottish, who are different from the Welsh, who are different from the Irish.

I'm glad they have different histories, different myths, different legends, different traditions. I'm glad they're different cultures.

Maybe I've misunderstood. Are there some posting here who'd welcome a United States of Europe? A United States of Africa? A United States of Oceania?

The true message should really be the opposite: no, we're not all different, we're all One.

But what if we could supersede the inevitable cognitive dissonance of holding two opposing perspectives equally in mind at the same time?

The message could perhaps become We are all different, We are all One.

From a spiritual perspective it is possible that the only way for Source to know itself was though diversity, shooting out Divine Sparks to love, explore, create and reflect on itself. If so, then the message above could be on the money.

The One makes the many from itself and so loses nothing of itself in granting autonomy to a portion of itself. Even with this free will/autonomy/diversity the One is still the One, whole yet not unified.

    Different but the same.

Incidentally each diverse individual Spark is also the One, just a portion of the One currently not unified with the other portions of the One.

I agree with you on that last post PainterDoug.. And I do agree with your first post, to a point, but I may see it a tad bit differently.. I do agree that cohesion gives us strength. But I also believe that if you can have diversity within that cohesion, that strength is even stronger. Perhaps we can call it "Diverse Cohesion".. Meaning if we can work well together, cohesively, without allowing our differences to weaken the whole, we will be a better species as a result.

But it takes understanding and patience, and many other things as well. And to reach that, we all must want the same outcome, be able to let go of ego for the "whole", and agree that none are better than the other, just perhaps a bit different with our own individual strengths and weaknesses.. and as you said, realize that we are merely all different facets of the same gemstone.

So I can't argue that cohesion indeed gives us strength, but if we have diversity in the group, we are more capable then, of addressing many many more things, as a less diverse group, tends to focus their attention on less things.

I suppose if you had two groups, one that was solely cohesive, yet limited in their differences, and one that was equally as cohesive, yet very diverse in their interests, and their abilities, then I would suggest the "Diverse Cohesive" group would far surpass the plain cohesive group.

For example, if you had a group of cohesive people such as History majors in one group, and in another you had some who studied ecology, one that studied mathematics, one engineering, one flora and fauna, one, animal husbandry, etc. Yet they too, worked together cohesively.. Which group would survive better if left alone in the wild? I Believe it would be the more diverse group. You're post originally suggests that you can't have both, I disagree.

It is a balancing act. Unity without uniformity, and diversity without fragmentation.
Just by contemplating these concepts we can give our behavior direction.

Some of the counter-points argued above I do not disagree with. I am certain that humanity, if left to mingle freely amongst itself, undisturbed and unmolested by the control matrix of social engineering, would no doubt soar to new and marvellous heights, in touching and exploring each and every surface of these, our many wonderful aspects of diversity. From that we would indeed draw great strength.

However when politicized (co-opted) as it has been, artificial divisions are created that weren't there before. It has created agendas, competition, and victimhood, and therefore discord. It is on this point I wished to dwell. When identity politics has us plant flags in this camp or that camp, we are thus encouraged to channel our energies into what 'makes us different', rather than what makes us the same.

What I'm trying to argue is that, contrary to what pundits and celebrities and political candidates vehemently claim (to score virtue-signalling points), politicized diversity is not a strength but an impediment. Collectively, I believe it's what humanity shares in common that ultimately gives us strength and cohesion. Even when we continue to have opposing opinions, belief systems, different creeds, sexualities, skin-colours or whatever, all these things are strongly outweighed by our basic common interests. The simple recognition, particularly of the spiritual, that we're all facets of just the same divine diamond, could end strife, disorder and war forever.

I'm very glad we're all different, and in so many ways. But if there's ever going to be a new and peaceful age for humanity moving forward, it will be built on the foundation of what, in our shared humanity, brings us together, not what sets us apart.
"When the power of love overcomes the love of power the world will know peace."
    ~ Jimi Hendrix
