Gravitational anomaly discovered weighing down surface of moon

A large gravitational anomaly has been discovered beneath the surface of the moon by researchers at Baylor University in Texas.

The anomaly was discovered when the scientists measured subtle changes in the strength of gravity around the moon, analysing data collected from NASA missions.

Researchers suspect it may be caused by a mass of metal which originated from deep space being buried beneath the moon's surface and weighing it down.

"Imagine taking a pile of metal five times larger than the Big Island of Hawaii and burying it underground," said the study's lead author Dr Peter James.

"That's roughly how much unexpected mass we detected," Dr James said, explaining the research published in Geophysical Research Letters.

Or, maybe the tractor beam theory is the cause. An unidentified force such as a a tractor beam, which is a device with the ability to attract one object to another from a distance.

The name Tycho Magnetic Anomaly-1 (also known as the TMA-1) refers to the strong magnetic field found somewhere in the lunar Crater Tycho by an American scientific satellite. Astronauts find that this magnetic anomaly is caused by an alien Monolith buried about 15 meters below the surface. In the novel, when the Monolith is excavated and examined, it is found to be a black cuboid whose sides extend in the precise ratio of 1 : 4 : 9 (1² : 2² : 3²). In the novel, Clarke suggests that this sequence or ratio extends past the three known spatial dimensions into much higher dimensions.

The TMA-1 was dug up during the lunar night, but after sunrise and its exposure to direct sunlight, TMA-1 emits a single powerful burst of radio waves – aimed at Iapetus (a moon of Saturn) in the novel, and aimed at Jupiter in the motion picture. Its powerful magnetic field disappears immediately. In the novel, some scientists speculate that its magnetic field came from large electric currents, circulating in a system of superconductors for millions of years as an energy-storage mechanism. All of that electric power was expended in the one radio signal.

There is no specific evidence, no. However, there is a plethora of unexplained anomalies regarding the moon that invite legitimate hypotheses, so until these anomalies are resolved with scientific consensus, I have no problem with speculative conjecture (the post in question doesn't appear to claim anything to me, but is rather speculative). I don't see how this speculation is any more outrageous than any other.

In any case, here are the facts:

The isotopic ratio and makeup of the Moon’s surface material relative to the Earth’s mantle material is significantly different. The moon appears much older than the earth. This could be because the Earth is volcanic and recycles its mantle, but this explanation is also speculative. Regardless, we know the mean density of the moon is 3.3 grams per centimeter whereas the mean density of the earth is 5.5 grams per cubic centimeter. There are a number of explanations why this might be so, but we can probably rule out any theory that suggests the earth and moon were once part of a larger body (the moon appears to be a foreign object relative to the earth) unless, as speculated by Dr. Harold Urey, a Nobel Prize winning chemist, the moon itself has an enormous cavity. Hmm....

My main point here is to point out that any notion that posits the moon may indeed have a hollow cavern is quite plausible and grounded on scientific evidence. Like to see more evidence, sure. But hardly insane.

Of course it is and so are a great many things, such as the magnetic anomaly in Lake Vostok, the monolith on Phobos (moon of Mars), Cydonia on Mars .
So much is investigated but then things get classified and silenced.

Well whatever it is is probably tied directly to that other object that has a strange gravity effect in Antarctica and it's probably like two magnets just far enough apart from each other to attract but not enough to draw them any closer. Something is certainly holding the moon locked there in place ey? I imagine it's like the spin the earth spinning the one here on earth causes the moon to move about exactly as it does by the hold the earth has on the moon object hidden underneath the outer shell there.
